The 8th Law

Lately I've been re-reading one of my favorite books, The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene

Amongst the various laws the law that has really resonated with me in terms of daygame has been law number 8 : Make other people come to you- use bait if necessary.

After re-reading the law I saw the correlation between a game/ charismatic tactic that I have been applying lately.

The tactic is to basically assume or pre label your target with characteristics that may or may not apply to them. Thus giving them the opportunity to validate or correct your assumption. This correction or validation creates an opportunity for rich conversation to commence.

For example...

At my work we had a new co-worker start his first day. I had made some small talk with him , wanted to know where he was from but did not want to seem intrusive. So I asked him

Me; Hey so what part of Puerto Rico are you from?

Him; oh im not from Puerto Rico my dad is from Venezuela and my mom is white american ( he looks latin american)

* For me personaly on my job knowing who speaks/understands spanish or not is imperative, this lets me know when I need to switch up languages depending on who is around.

A second example...

Im at a gym that I normally do not attend regularly. I am finishing up my workout when I see this cute chick(7) stretching in the stretching area.

I walk over and pretend to post workout stretch, while stretching I open her with this

Me; How long have you been in gymnastics

Her; lol oh ive been doing it my whole life

Me; oh so you probably started with mommys and me

Her: yea lol

At that point she was in the process of leaving and left the area.

The point of these two interactions is that you can get information out of people by just assuming something about them.

Your positive assumption about that person should invoke them to correct you or praise you in aww at how your correctly knew the assumption (on your part).

This falls directly in line with the 8th Law: make others come to you- use bait if necessary

By assuming a quality in an individual, that person is coming to you by either disclaiming or asserting your statement.

Often times people will reveal much more that you would have hoped thus creating a wider platform for a conversation to develop.

Anyway, this was just something that I played around with this week and thought I would share.

I've always believed that most people are open books and that one can extract just about any information from them if you go about it in the right way.

Good post.

Anyone here who hasn't read Greene's books are missing out big time.

^ If Mystrey was turning up to perform such as an magician, the outfit is totally suitable. Otherwise that ensemble is laughable!
