Consulting/contracting work in Germany for an American?

Consulting/contracting work in Germany for an American?

Does anyone know German job board websites like Monster or Careerbuilder, where I can browse job posting and find some gigs, ideally in Munich, Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg, etc? I do mostly contract software development/programming and also software architecture and project management.

I'm thinking of taking a 3-6 month euro trip and working part-time to make some money. I'm thinking Germany since the economy is probably the healthiest in Europe and the most hospitable to an American speaking English.

I may enter via Poland as suggested by another thread here.

Any help is appreciated.

There's a large US military contingent in Germany. Try usajobs.gov and set the location to Germany

There is indeed still an American military contingent in Germany but the size has been greatly reduced and will only get smaller over the next few years. You might be able to pull a job with one of the defense contracting companies but it won't be simple. Understandably, many Americans love living in Germany either for the travel opportunities, they married a German, or they just like living in Europe. With the military reduction and people wanting to stay, competition for gigs can be tough although not impossible. Good luck.

Try monster.de and stepstone.de. Your best bet for software stuff is heise.de, not sure if you can flip it to english. Also don't forget about the jobmarket in the most important newspapers, check them out on faz.net and sueddeutsche.de.
