Richard Dawkins: Rape at knife point is worse than date rape

The guys says this here;

http://www.dailylife.com.au/news-and-vie...3cswk.html

he argues about the scale of trauma and it results in an ensuring twitter war populated with feminists.

Quote:Quote:

On Tuesday, the God Delusion author tweeted to his 987,000 followers that “mild date rape” is not as bad as being raped by a stranger at knifepoint, and that anyone who thinks the comparison is an endorsement of date rape should “go away and learn how to think”.

Counterpoints end up being irrelevant segues, histrionics and appeals to victimhood..

Quote:Quote:

Shami Chakrabarti, a spokesperson from The End Violence Against Women Coalition, told The Telegraph that his words were “not merely ignorant but extremely offensive”. “I know there are men of a certain generation who just clunk around on this subject but it’s really not good enough. It sends a very bad signal."

Chakrabarti added: "Language is important. Even great minds need editing. There are very clever people who are experts in their own subject and write books, but when they write books they are edited. Some very clever people who ought to know better occasionally let themselves down online and on Twitter in particular."

Quote:Quote:

As Jody Woodward, a spokesman for East London Rape Crisis points out, “Rape itself is a violent act regardless of whether any physical force is used. For survivors there is no hierarchy as to what constitutes ‘better’ or ‘worse’ rape. Rape is rape; there is no such thing as mild rape.”

He tried to defend his position with reason.

I think we know how successful that would have been

The law makes distinctions between rape and aggravated rape with force and weapons, different degrees of sexual assault, so what he says is legally endorsed and operative.

Still, you can get life or a lot of time for "date rape."

Dawkins is just trolling for a laugh imho.

He knows that most people are too stupid to understand what he is saying and is clearly smart enough to know how his words will be misinterpreted.

Amazing man.

The thing is, "date rape" is being redefined to mean cases such ad when a woman willingly had sex but had a couple drinks during the date, or where they have sex but she didn't explicitly give a verbal yes, or any of the other expsnsions if the definition of rape that feminists are pushing for

Yeah, he's generating outrage to get people to look at his writing.

There must be more than a few people who saw the tweets because of the complaints, thought "hang on, he's right!" and promptly started reading more of his stuff.

Same principle as fat shaming week on RoK Tuth's short hair article etc.

If you see culture as a war, it can never be won. If you see it as a struggle to enlighten others, then victories are everywhere.

To quote Heartiste - regret or remorse does not equal rape.

Assault is assault. There's no difference between being lightly slapped and getting bludgeoned with a ball peen hammer. They're both inherently violent acts and to claim any distinction is highly offensive.

I wouldn't say Dawkins is that kind of pc crazed liberal, he's always been harshly critical against muslims.

Feminists keep expanding what rape is to ridiculous levels, then want to say all rape is equal. It's insanity.
