People in the US will miss the days of having a middle class- pensions, job benefits, social security, "job security". All of that will be gone. You guys better start learning some useful skills ASAP

Sure, pal. That's what Germany, Japan and Al Queda thought.

Care to take on some Seals, Rangers, Marines, and Drones? Who do you think can actually fuck with us? Name them.

Who leads in the most advanced technology-- genetics and computers?

Where do the very absolute smartest people in the world go, the BEST geneticist, the MOST BRILLIANT computer scientist?

Maybe Geneva. But mostly America.

Doomsaying is easy, building the most powerful civilization in the history of humankind isn't .

Of course, a meteor the size of Manhattan could end it all in a few weeks I guess.

Come to think of it, what if scientists conquer Whaleism?! Imagine if American girls below the upper middle class were cute again!?? You heard it here first: The obesity epidemic will be reversed in 15 years. They will have shit that will just kill your appetite.

Relax man. Countries dont always fall apart due to military conflict. I think what he is getting at is the country will not be recognizeable in 50 years. Let's be honest, what the USA is today isn't exactly what the founders had in mind for America. Changes happen.

Printed books.

In 50 years, printed books will pretty much be nonexistent. Reading on a device(smartphone, tablet, e-reader) will be the new norm.

in 50 years we will miss the days when we only had 15 Trillion dollars of debt, because we'll have 500 trillion dollars of debt. Or more realistically our economy will just completely fall apart and we'll finally default... but realistically this will happen way sooner than 50 years.

Assuming the continuance of present trends, the internet as we know it today will be a fondly remembered relic 25 or 50 years from now. By that point it will be completely locked down and anonymity, piracy/file sharing and the promotion of forbidden ideologies will be impossible. Our grandchildren will marvel at the fact that anyone in the world was once able to access any kind of information he wanted on the internet and discuss ideas anonymously with others. In the future the internet will be entirely corporate/government controlled, will require licensing to host web content and all websites will require the use of universal logins tied to your real identity. We are currently experiencing the tail end of the "Wild West" phase of the internet. From here on out it's just going to get more controlled, more centralized, more regulated.

This. Being able to get a job at the local plant with great pay and benefits while having minimal skills is already coming to an end. It will only accelerate.

My Mexican coworkers here in Mexico find it crazy that when they visit the other plant in the USA, many of the American workers dont have degrees and make 5-6x the engineers here in Mexico while doing the same job.

World wide pay differences will even out somewhat. This will be bad for Westerners.

All things made today are disposable, worthless junk destined for obsolescence. There is nothing around of lasting value like the pyramids which have been around for thousands of years and are still standing. Even modern man's most impressive achievements - skyscrapers - would quickly corrode into dust if humans no longer maintained them. Twin towers fall down - no problem - just build another one. It's just a commodity. Nothing is special and worth preserving.

In the future, privacy will be a thing of the past. The regulation of America will increase with little room for spontaneity. Millions of "unhappy me"s will escape into entertainment where they are permitted to fantasize about how life was meaningful during the days you were allowed to do something dangerous. They will anesthetize themselves and drain their life force with the idiot-maker drug marijuana and think they are free.

From today pretty much nothing. I don't miss anything about the 2000-2009 period. Very little of value was created then beyond the growth of handheld computers. Ironically something I embraced when Palm OS was the main mobile operating system. Now I want to find ways to get rid of my smartphone. I doubt I'll miss anything from this decade either. The last great decade was the 90s.

Oh, i'll miss slutty women, easy sex, and the ability to go to college for practically nothing. I won't lie, I doubt society is going to put up with the status quo for much longer.

I miss the lack of 24/7 connectivity and the resulting extent to which we are expected to be contactable. It was possible during the 1st half of the noughties to be off the grid somewhat for more than a few hours without everyone you know thinking you were dead etc.

Looking back to the 90s, the standout thing, other than even less connectivity, was the lack of rules, regulations and downright nanny state-ism that we are in now (here in the UK particularly…I think the Aussies are ahead of us here and the Americans a step behind).

The overarching intrusion of government into everyday lives is only going to go one way going forward.

Freedom. That's what we will miss in 50 years. There will be nowhere left in the world to find it.

above all...HOME COOKING?! Imagine in twenty so years when current college girls are all mothers. these girls can't cook now...who will teach them? not the nonprofit they work for.

you can already see it in advertising. Burger King just started doing burgers for breakfast. KFC, Pizza Hut, and others now have family size meals you can pick up and feed a whole family with.

current mothers have already slowed down on cooking breakfast, substituting in toaster strudel and fruit loops. lunch is now majorly fed by schools (thanks to taxpayers). 50 years ago, moms were responsible for breakfast, packing a lunch, and a filling dinner. now? ha

Ya'll touched on many of the big ones, others off the top of my head:

Inexpensive water.

Pin numbers in lieu of biometrics.

How to physically write words other than your signature.

Seeds.

Not as long as hackers exist. Hackers built the internet. As Internet grows more complex, only those with vast knowledge of its working can manipulate it. Since the number of such people is small and they are usually driven by an intense drive for knowledge, I don't see dumbass politicians controlling Internet in the near future.

Maybe in America, China and Western Europe. Definitely not in other countries. Very few countries have the infrastructure to do that.

Government control of telecoms, the NSA, software and hardware backdoors for government access built-in to all devices, the popularity of Facebook and Google+ universal logins tied to real identity, etc... These things are already happening now. It's not going to suddenly stop. The course is very predictable. All it's going to take is a major "cyber attack" (whether genuine as an act of war/terrorism or as a false flag) to give developed countries justification for locking down the internet. The de-centralized nature of the current internet makes it extremely dangerous from the perspective of the present powers that be. They are used to having total control over information flow in society through centralized systems like academia, radio, television and newspapers. The internet has been extremely disruptive to the centralized information distribution system, which means that people have access to a lot of information that they otherwise wouldn't. This makes it harder to fool them with disinformation and propaganda.

Make no mistake, the free internet represents the biggest threat to the status quo. That is why it will be eliminated.

People will miss enjoying a peaceful day in the park without having drones overhead taking your picture, buzzing too close, dropping things on your head like pigeons, and generally making a nuisance of themselves.

The age of meat will be coming to an end shortly and will be replaced by CRUSHED BUGS. Yep I saw the article for this already and they already succeeded in making bug patties in Germany that taste like burgers.

The way the world is going now, I'd say crowded places since people are dying off and younger generation doesn't want children.

Then i don't even know if I will make it that far.

How do you think the forum will go out?

My guess is the same way the "seduction community" went. An influx of newbies that drove the solid guys away as they realized they had little to gain from a community that made them feel obsolete.

I sure hope RVF stays around for a long while. The value you guys provide to my life is immeasurable.

Things people will miss 50 years from now:

American culture: American music, television and cinema are already aiming for the lowest common denominator. A steady flow of quality works from Central Europe, China and Japan will be the source of popular culture to the world 50 years from now. "Latin" music is spreading all over the world as of now.

"Natural" food. Its hard enough already to find food that hasnt been pre-washed, pre-processed, and pre-packaged. Eating fruit picked right from the tree will be one of your fondest memories 50 years from now.

Freedom of speech. Expressing your thoughts freely and openly is hard enough already. Saying that you dont want fags in your community, that women are less capable in the workplace, or that you would never vote for X type of person can get you fired today. Imagine how hard it will be in 50 years.

Manly men and feminine women. Any XY chromosome carrying individual will be pressured to abandon any display of independance or free will. Every cis-gendered non-polyamorous womyn will be indoctrinated into accepting a body positive (fat), promiscuous, gender-neutral lifestyle as a way of being accepted into society. Basically, men will be castrated (even chemically, at chidhood, as its happening now with boys under 10 getting gender reassigning surgery) and women will be told to grow balls and armpit hair.
