San Diego, CA Datasheet (with an entire book on the city)

A year or so ago, with a year of blogging under my belt, I decided I'd pen my first eBook. After doing a bit of searching around, I realized that Google saw about 1,000 hits a month for "San Diego nightlife", which had been my stomping grounds for the previous 5 years.

So I wrote a book about it and sold all of two copies.

Thankfully I learned my lesson and my new book is far, far better, both in it's quality and how well it has sold.

I've decided I might as well just give the San Diego Nightlife guide book away for free in case anyone from the forum is wandering through there and wants some good information on where to go. Therefore, it's attached to this post.

If you're one of the two people that bought the book I'm sorry! [Image: tard.gif]

Without further ado...

San Diego, CA Datasheet

If you’re visiting or vacationing, you should know:

- There is a very large military presence here. This means that there are drunken Navy and Marine boys running around all the time. They often have quite a bit of money to blow because they live in the barracks and therefore have no living expenses. While they don’t have usually have much game, the sheer number of them means that girls get endless attention, drinks, and as a result their bitch shields are often sky high.

- Know that despite the numbers, there is no shortage of the quantity of girls. There are beauties everywhere.

- San Diego is often referred to as “Man Diego” and the only rain we get is “when it rains men.” The ratios are horrendous. Urban Dictionary says it is a 7:1 male to female ratio. The latest census data I could find for this book says it’s about ~2.5% more males than females. Neither of these are accurate – it’s not as bad as 7:1 but the census data is skewed, as it does not account for ages. Assuming you are looking for good looking girls in the 18-30 range, you can expect a ratio of 3/4:1 at most venues you frequent.

For the record I live in LA now and find it significantly better.

- There's a major bro culture. Lots of dudes in good shape and juicin' up.

- Lots of diversity. 20 minutes from Tijuana, plenty of Asians at UCSD. Plenty of slutty white sorority girls at my alma matter, SDSU. Lots of foreign tourists as well.

- Great Mexican food.

Accommodations

The majority of people who visit want to stay near the beach. Completely understandable. Generally speaking, hotels there are expensive. You're better off with AirBNB if you want to bang.

Ocean Beach: Very hippy, lots of stoners and bums. Nightlife CAN be fun if you just want to chill with the guys and drinks. Most chicks wear flip flops out so I wouldn't bother gaming.

Mission Beach: Tourist central.

Pacific Beach: Slutty college girl area.

Anything north of that I wouldn't bother for nightlife.

People also stay in downtown and North Park. Downtown is pretty touristy and NP is more of a locals scene (lots of cute hipster chicks out at nights, though).

Night Game

There's only three neighborhoods usually worth going out in. Pacific Beach, Downtown, and North Park. Below is a list of places worth checking out. Far more details than most will care to read are in the book.

Downtown

 Double Deuce
 Fluxx (wouldn't bother unless you can drop $$)
 McFadden’s Saloon
 Shout House
 Sidebar
 Star Bar
 Stingaree (don't bother if it's raining - thankfully that's only a week a year)
 Tipsy Crow
 Whiskey Girl

Pacific Beach

 Bar West
 Johnny V’s
 Pacific Beach Bar & Grill
 Pacific Beach Alehouse
 Silver Fox Lounge
 The Tavern
 Typhoon Saloon (hit or miss)

North Park

 Seven Grand Whiskey Bar
 True North
 U31
 West Coast Tavern

Lots of other good places out here too, though I didn't move to North Park until after I'd written the book. Happy to elaborate if needed.

Daygame

You have a lot of options here.

All three colleges have plenty of hot girls to go around. Don't bother with UCSD unless you really, really like Asian girls; and even then they're mediocre. SDSU has the sluttiest girls, hands-down.

Fashion Valley Mall is a fantastic spot to daygame. Don't bother with Mission Valley, it's where all the teenagers go to hang out after school and look cool.

The beaches. Any of them provided that the weather is good. You can see more info about them above.

Balboa Park - plenty of museums, gardens, etc. to explore. I used to come here and read and make approaches.

---

Again, if you want to read way, way more details, just download the PDF attached to this. Let me know if you have any questions or want specific advice. I moved out of San Diego about six months ago. It's a fantastic place to live for a while, and a great place to visit - but it's really not a city I'd recommend to an aspiring player.

San Diego, CA Datasheet (with an entire book on the city)

Just spent a night (and part of the following day in San Diego) with mah boi FCP.

We visited pretty much every key spot (The Gassylamp Quarter, Belmont Park, La Jolla/UCSD, SDSU, Pacific Beach, and The Fashion Valley Mall). I believe the only important spots we missed out on were Ocean Beach and Old Town.

THE GOOD: San Diego is a very scenic city. You've got mountains, hills, beaches, and palm trees. SD has a Mediterranean climate, nearly identical to its SoCal brother up north, Los Angeles. The Gassylamp Quarter is the name of the downtown neighborhood in SD and it's pretty cool. It mostly boasts a fun vibe, it's clean, it's nice, and there are a slew of women running up and down the main street there (5th Ave, I believe it was). The Gassylamp is definitely a far better spot than Hollywood and Downtown LA. It's much cleaner, nicer, safer, and has far more foot traffic than Los Angeles' main two night game spots. I didn't manage to pull any women but I did do roughly 12 approaches and most of the women were receptive. I think SD is definitely better for game than LA, not that that's saying much. We also visited a very upscale neighborhood called La Jolla. La Jolla was very beautiful but thin on babes, as expected. The neighborhood was saturated with wealthy old geezers.

THE BAD: Logistics. I knew they'd be bad but they were worse than I thought. The traffic was bad (not awful) but what really made this city a logistical nightmare was the extreme sprawl. Every time we plugged a new spot into Waze, we had to take the highway. Our next destination was nowhere near our prior one. If you were to move to SD, I'd recommend that you set up shot in the Gassylamp. Outside of the Gassy and maybe the Fashion Valley mall, you're going to be hard-pressed to find spots to game at.

THE UGLY: Cock-blocking belligerent, ghetto beta orbiters. There were a few of these dudes in the Gassylamp. I figured that San Diego, due to being upscale and clean, would be immune to these shady characters, but I reckon no American city can boast such a claim. It also took us about 40 minutes to find parking in the Gassylamp. Not fun.

All in all, SD is a nice city, but far from ideal for pick-up. A wise man named G Manifesto once famously said that SoCal was the worst part of America for the single man looking to date, pull, and pork honeys due to its horrific blend of logistics, flakage, competition, and "tribal" social nature. Not sure it's as bad as Wyoming, Montana, etc, where you're more likely to find a cow than a human, but I can attest to the fact that the logistics from LA to SD are nightmarishly bad. Every true playa knows the value of logistics in this game.

"Niceness" of the city: 8/10
Quality of women: 6/10
Quantity of women: 6/10
Logistics: 2.5/10

Nice datasheet. I lived in SD for two years and I agree with the assessment of the hookup scene. The ratio is terrible. So many SEALs and Marines everywhere. A bar will be jam packed full of guys with all of them surrounding two tables of girls. I got laid a lot in San Diego because I was very fit and have a funny accent, but not like the opportunities to hookup in LA.

I actually hooked up several times from just being the guy at the bar that wasn't being an orbiter. My friends and I would look over at a table of girls being surrounded by a fawning pack of meatheads, and laugh about how ridiculous the situation was. Then on various occasions the girls would come over and say, "Will you guys please save us from those idiots? Act like you're with us." It's counter-intuitive that being non-aggressive might be a successful ploy, but if you could witness how lame the scene is that I'm describing, you would understand why the girls just want to get away from the orbiters and hang out with chill guys that aren't pawing at them. If you see that scene where girls look uncomfortable in the middle of a pack of dudes, then make eye contact with the girls and grin like you understand their pain. You might get a chance to "save them."

Day game is better than night for the above reasons. The gym and beach bar patios during the day are great places to meet girls. San Diego is a really beautiful city with the US' best weather. If you can sort through the stuck-up attitudes, then I highly recommend seeing it. If you're going for the sake of gaming girls, then LA is a much easier spot.

This post struck a chord with me, had to comment. The combination of military bases, mixed martial arts centers, tech industry and a high cost of living has led to an unusually high ratio of men to women at most mainstream establishments (gyms, restaurants/coffee shops, bars/clubs). There is a similar story in other West coast tech cities (Seattle, San Francisco, Portland seem to stand out) but it seems unusually severe at this southern tip, leading to an almost acrimonious male-female dynamic. It is pretty striking to cross the border in Tijuana and notice the ratio normalize.

Economically, most women here are not as affluent as men, so unless they have a male provider, it is rare to see a single woman where I live. And if they are well off enough through their own efforts, they are almost inevitably ugly or old. It is not uncommon for me to see bars/clubs at peak hours that have, literally, 20-30 men and 1-2 women. And the two are like walruses at feeding time, reveling in the free clam chowder bath they receive from the lonely and desperate androgen sea that surrounds them. The inappropriate sense of entitlement that is off-putting even with a 20-something millenial is almost comically disgusting in a 42 year old divorced mother of 2. A general rule of thumb from my time in other cities is that San Diego 8 = Los Angeles 5 = Eastern Bloc 3.

There is a similar and more extreme version of this phenomenon in rural parts of China and India due to female abortions/infanticide, which may be part of the reason for acid attacks and other gender-based crimes of almost inhuman cruelty that have received media attention as of late. It is obviously not that bad here, but as this country sinks further into a welfare state I imagine the asymmetry and desperation in cities like this will progress in step (ie. the few remaining forward-progressing economic hubs). Almost the evil doppelganger of the eastern bloc. Roosh's commentary about the androgyny and instability of DC women is heartbreakingly familiar.

To those considering a move to the city, I would be aware that your game will need to be razor sharp.

I haven't lived there since 2014 now, but at the time I couldn't imagine it getting better. It is just a weird dynamic because of all those factors you mentioned.

That being said, it's still a damn beautiful place and it's at least somewhat removed from some of the fake LA behavior and the tech/SJW space of the Bay.

Only place in California I'd ever consider living again.

What are some cheap places to stay besides the hostel? The conference is at the Humphrey's Half Moon Inn. I am flying into the airport. I hope I don't have to rent a car.

I don't think you will need a car. Humphrey's is on Shelter Island, a quick drive down Harbor Drive from the airport. If you rent a car you will have to pay for parking at your hotel. I can't recommend a specific hotel. There are a ton in that area. Good thing you aren't paying summertime prices. I wouldn't stay at the Ocean Beach hostel on Newport Ave unless I had to.

Not game related, but check out Cabrillo National Monument and the tide pools if you have time. They are very close to Humphrey's. The Living Coast Discovery Center is kind of far in Chula Vista but it's much cheaper than Sea World. Another cheap idea is to take a drive from Coronado Island down the Silver Strand, if you have a car.

I don't know if you will have time for game. I would recommend concentrating on the tourist chicks. Maybe you will have exotic value, depending on where they are from. Also their standards won't be as ridiculous as the locals. If you speak Spanish, the Mexican chicks are easy to impress. If I think of anything else I will let you know.

Mexican chicks are everywhere. Using Harbor Drive as a reference point, you can go south of the airport to the area around Seaport Village. There are many interesting sights there and it's easy to get to from Shelter Island. People that work downtown go there as well as tourists and Mexican chicks that live or work in the area.

There is a trolley stop near there that has a high concentration of people. You can take the trolley to City College. Horton Plaza is a mall near Seaport. At that point you are downtown so tons of targets.

Took a trip to California recently and visited San Diego as well. Got laid in SD (story here) and have to say that it's a pretty nice city.

I don't think I'd visit again other than to see people I know because of value/novelty (California/America in general is expensive for what you get and I grew up in the US so traveling here isn't as "cool" as going abroad for me), but the weather is quite nice and the girls are pretty attractive and friendly.

I'd say it's worth a visit if you're nearby or visiting California/USA.

Men’s Style Guide: For Guys Who Want to Get Laid

You aren't getting laid because you still believe in "game".

Here's how I went from being a 21-year-old, videogame-addicted, Asian virgin to banging too many girls to count (no PUA bs):

WKR That is a fucking great write-up hah. Glad to see somebody who actually enjoyed Southern California. Most of the writeups I read are depressing and don't mirror my experience at all.

This may be true in a lot of places but people in Socal have such a mundane party lifestyle.. some version of brunch, pregame, go to bars, sleep at 130am after close. If you're a guy who is adventurous enough to go to fucking Tijuana at 3am to hit some strip clubs, you're naturally going to stand out just by actually being a fun person who is cool to talk to and enjoys life. This attracts women by defualt.

How is december in Pacific beach? I've heard there is college break from around 15th Dec till Jan 15th. Are students in town or they go back home?
I'm scouting for a place now, wan't nightlife close and not use much car (i won't have one). WKR said he spent over $250 for uber alone. Airbnbs i've seen so far are also expensive.
