Sao Paulo, Brazil - 2014 Night Club Datasheet

Initially I thought about dropping a data sheet giving a more complete overview of the city, but there are already threads on this. Also, I'm a local who has lived here most of my life, so my depictions will most certainly not match the ones of a gringo who wishes to visit or live here for the medium term.

So I'm going to focus on nightclubs. I have a done a lot venue experimentation last year, so apart from spending my hard earned corporate slave wage and banging a few hoes in the process, I figure I could give visiting RVFers some info for free.

First of all, check this thread by Ringo. Plenty of info here.

Glossary
Three words related to nightclubs in Brazil you absolutely need to know the meaning:

Consumação: when you enter the venue you agree to pay an entrance fee. This can include consumação or not. If it's too hefty, it will most likely include consumação, which is part of the entrance fee that you can revert into drinks at the club. It can be part of it, or the totality. It comes in the shape of a card, that you give the barman in exchange for your drinks at the bar. If you lose the card, rush to the bar and tell that to the barman as soon as you realize you no longer have it. He will ask for your ID number (which you gave in the entrance), and proceed to cancel the card and give you a new one. Bear in mind that if someone else found it on the floor or wherever you left it in the meantime, they will invariably screw you by drinking on your expense until you cancel it. You pay at the exit, so if you drank more than your "initial deposit", you will obviously pay more.

Camarote: This is the VIP area. Some clubs will only allow you to the camarotes if you're doing bottle service at one of the tables, but some others will give you an individual "pulseira" (a plastic bracelet) so that you can have access to these areas without having to buy bottles. Of course, you will pay more than the regular fee for that, but less than what you would pay for a table. So it's advisable if you have disposable cash, mainly because it gives you more targets at the club to work on, as well as access to a bar that is much less busy and easier to get drinks.

Sertanejo: This is Brazilian country music. It has become really popular in recent years among Brazilian middle and upper class girls, so it's a natural consequence that sertanejo clubs are being opened everywhere. You don't need to know how to dance sertanejo in these clubs to successfully pick up, even though it helps.

Now on to the actual clubs. They're divided by region.

Vila Olimpia

Villa Mix - High-end sertanejo club. This is the most popular (as in, everyone wants to go to) club in town, so getting inside is quite difficult, unless you get there real early (before midnight). The workaround is to bribe the bouncer. A bill of BRL 20 per guy should do the trick, but do it discreetly (this is no different than Hollywood clubs). Also, if you have more disposable cash, I suggest you to skip the main entrance and go directly to the VIP entrance on the side (where the "camarotes" are). You pay BRL 250, of which 180 is "consumacao", but it's easier to get in, you'll have access to a lot of talent, and it should be a more pleasant experience over all than hanging out on the dance floor (which is huge btw). Girls: a lot of hot girls, most of them dressed in short and sexy dresses. High attitude (this is the "in" club in town, remember), and bitch shields can be high, depending on whether the dickheads at the door have relaxed the entrance policy that particular night and let too much sausage in. But I've banged quality girls I've met here from solo cold approaching, so it's surely doable, even though you can probably find higher ROI elsewhere. Open: Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Wood's - Another sertanejo club. Remember the Villa Mix tip about getting a "Camarote" card. Same applies here, although it's cheaper (BRL 200 with less consumação), and the entrance is the same for everyone, so you just go up to staff behind the rope and say you're in for the camarote. They will let you in because you're paying more (there's no free lunch), and you'll skip the massive line. Important: I never had to bribe here, while in Villa Mix it's pretty much a given if you get there late. Inside, it's similar to Villa Mix, but with a lot less talent and much smaller. So there's no real reason to come here, and if you want to go to a sertanejo club but spend less than at Villa Mix, go to Villa Country instead. Open: Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Royal Club - This preppy club used to be in Centro but moved to Vila Olimpia last year. I went a lot to the older location, it was a very small venue (tough to go solo), with young-ish crowd and decent talent. Football player Ronaldo owned a share here and could be seen on one of the "camarotes" more often than not, especially in his final career years. The new location is much bigger with a smoking patio upstairs, so going solo shouldn't be a problem. Dress up. Take it easy with the drinks here, as they're quite strong for some reason. Hip hop, house, top 40 and even Brazilian funk are played here. Open: check out FB page for the exact info.

Kia Ora Pub - This place calls itself an Australian/NZer pub, but I'm pretty sure 99% of Brazilians (myself included) wouldn't for the life of them be able to tell the difference between that and an English or Irish pub. Anyway, the important thing is that this place is a goldmine if you don't mind older, career type girls (25-35 age bracket). The women at Kia Ora are down, and me and my friends have pulled many a ONS from here. The place has decent live cover rock band shows, and two floors. The first one is where the stage and the dance floor is, and it gets pretty mad after 1 AM or so with most people hooking up. Brazilians call it "guerra" (which means war in portuguese). The second one is where you can find a few mixed groups sitting on tables and a few smaller groups standing, and it's not bad for pick up either. Open: Wed-Sat.

Limelight - This is the most famous cougar club in the city. And I'm talking real cougar here, with ages ranging from 30 to... 60, even though you can find women of all ages here. I once hooked up with a very cute 18 year old girl here, after some time I asked her if she wanted to leave with me for sex, she said she was down but I had to ask her divorcee mom who was with her at the venue!!! Obviously the mom cockblocked me. It was one of the most surreal moments of my nightclub "career". Anyway, even if you don't like cougars, this is always a fun experience. DJ starts the night spinning Abba and then progresses through dance hits of the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, until modern top 40 stuff. Open: Thu-Sat.

The History - At walking distance from Limelight, this is another cougar club, very similar but not nearly as good as the former in my experience. They have access to the main room and this weird system of different "camarotes" with a small difference in prices. They also take nostalgia to a whole new level with wide screens showing cartoons from the 1980s and such. Anyway, if you're looking to hunt cougars, Limelight is probably a better bet. Open: Thu-Sat.

Itaim

She Rocks - This probably qualifies as a pseudo rock club, but it's slightly posh and expensive. Live rock bands play to a small dancing floor, with the occasional house played in between the shows. There's an area upstairs which is less crowded and better to relax after you already have a girl in your arm. Slightly older crowd (25-35), and usually pretty good m/f ratios. This is one of the few venues I have went several times and never bombed at, so obviously one of my favourite clubs at the moment. Open: Thursday (happy hours), Friday, Saturday.

Provocateur - Posh club that I've never been to, but have heard a few positive second handed accounts. Worth checking out on Thursdays and Saturdays.

Disco - Another posh club at Itaim. This one is quite traditional in the sense that it has existed for more than a decade. It's a small venue with VIP tables taking up 80% of the space, with the rest being corridors and areas surrounding the bars. Some decent DJs playing house music. Typical American-inspired club with a focus on bottle service, but tables are too expensive and this venue lacks in female talent, and even the 5s and 6s will give you attitude. Don't bother unless you want to bare a dysmal ROI. Nobody goes there anymore, anyway. Open: Thu-Sat.

Sailor Pub - Pub located at Avenida Faria Lima, it has three floors. First has a stage and a dance floor. On busy nights it can get very hot (I'm talking real body temperature here) and claustrophobic. Second floor is more spacious and probably better for pick up. Third floor only has tables with people that are there to eat. Nothing special about this venue, really, apart from the fact that it opens on Sundays.

Aurora - This is a bar and not a club, and on most nights it will be composed mostly of mixed groups sitting down at tables and not mingling. However, on Saturday afternoons, and especially on Sundays, this has more of a party vibe with lots of pairs and small groups of single girls looking for some action, and most people up from their tables and mingling. One of your best options if you're in the city and want to run game on a Sunday afternoon/early evening.

Pinheiros

Casa 92 - This venue is huge (recently enlarged) and has many different areas. The main one is a house with different rooms that emulate a "house party" feel, which can make it a tough place to work solo. Outside there are two outdoor dance floors, plus two different areas upstairs, one with an outdoor lounge with some tables and an indoor dancefloor, another one with a bar/lounge. This club plays "alternative" electronic music and more often than not attracts the hipster types. Women are usually over 25, but most of them are on the carousel. I don't consider this a true hipster club, because, judging by my results, social proof is important here. I've got more action here when I went with my friends rather than when I went solo. So I like to call it a pseudo hipster club. [Image: lol.gif]. Open: Thu-Sat.

Bar Secreto - Tiny bar with a small dancefloor. This is another pseudo hipster club, where girls appear alternative but will promptly ask you "who are you with here" after you approach them. Go with a wingman and put your name on the website list to avoid hassle. There's always some talent there, but m/f ratios can vary a lot. So I strongly recommend you to scoop the line and even the confirmed guest list on FB before deciding to pay the hefty entrance fee to get in, to avoid being stuck in a sausage fest. Open: Tue-Sat.

Caribbean Disco Club - This club used to be called Happy News back in the day. It attracts a very young crowd and plays the usual top 40 stuff and Brazilian pop music. Open: Thu-Sat.

Vila Seu Justino - This is a more of a bar, but on Sundays it gets live bands playing pagode/samba and a very decent amount of female talent that you can run game on, provided they are not in mixed groups.

Jardins/Rua Augusta

Ballroom - Located on the rich part of Rua Augusta, this is a posh electronic music club. Some hot girls on the younger side will be here (18-23). It's more focused on bottle service but you can always do some damage on the dance floor too. Entrance fee is BLR 200 consumação. Open: Thu-Sat.

Outlaws - Located across the street from Ballroom, this place used to be an electronic club called Mookai (very similar to Ballroom), but it gave place to Outlaws, which is a sertanejo/funk/pagode club. It opened some two years ago and was initally popular, but you don't see much people talking about it these days. Maybe give it a try if you're in the region. Check out FB page for open dates.

Lab Club - Indie/hipster venue located on the poor side of Rua Augusta, it plays rock and electronic music. Crowd is usually very young. Never been to.

Beco 203 - Hipster club, also located on the poor side of Rua Augusta. Also attracts a young, college crowd. Also never been to.

Centro

Lions - Cool venue with a massive terrace outside where people smoke and get a great view of the city center, and some nice electronic music playing in the background. I dislike the people that go there though, so not really my cup of tea. Also located at Centro. Thursday nights are LGBT if I'm not mistaken, and the other nights are gay friendly too.

Cine Joia - Located in a shithole of a street in Liberdade district, it's actually pretty cool once you get inside. It's an old cinema from the 1950's that now hosts music gigs of many different styles, from rock to samba, and a few parties as well. Easy to pick up as well, even in LGBT nights when there are fewer girls but no competition.a

Yacht - Same vibe as the ones above. Wednesdays and Saturdays are LGBT nights (notice a trend there?). On Friday it feels like a college party, the crowd will be mostly comprised of rich university kids, you'll struggle to find someone over 25 there. There's a traditional business school in the surroundings, that's why.

Brooklin/Santo Amaro

Club A - Located on the pool floor of the Sheraton hotel, this was one of my favourite clubs in the past couple of years, but unfortunately, quality has declined and the club is expensive (therefore, ROI has become lower than what I consider acceptable). Anyway, it's a cool club for the preppy types with a VIP area surrounding a big dance floor, and a pool deck outside which is good for smoking and approaching. The venue can differ radically based on the day of the week you go. In the middle of the week it's samba or pagode, on Thursdays it's sertanejo, on Fridays it's house with a youngish crowd (but ratios aren't the best), on Saturdays it's top 40 with a more mature crowd (aged 25-40, one of the best ratios in town). I still have a clean sheet here on Saturdays (went more than twenty times, never got less than a makeout). Check out the website for open days.

Brook's - Another sertanejo club. Same tip applies: skip the main entrance and go to the camarote entrance instead, you pay more but you have access to a whole new area with more targets. Beware: a lot of the girls circling the tables are actually "working", if you get my drift. This club is nothing special, and the prices are the same as Villa Mix, so unless you're in this zone (logistics), I recommend you to skip it. Open: Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

Barra Funda

Villa Country - The mother of all sertanejo clubs. It opened more than a decade ago and still gathers a good following to this day. It's not as high end as the other sertanejo clubs mentioned in this data sheet, but the girls here are down. Go Thursday night for better quality. Also opens on Friday and Saturday.

d.Edge - The most internationally famous club in the city, it has received a top ranking several times by DJ Mag. The club is very cool with led panels, many floors and a terrace. Music playing is also very nice, if you like electronic music that is. Girls? Forget it. Friday is gay night, and the other nights are massive sausage fests too. This venue used to be good for picking up (I once pulled a virgin ONS from here), but these days are over. Come here if you're into afterhours partying (maybe you can find some easy targets after 4-5 AM), or if you're into the music. Open: Thursday-Saturday (Friday is gay night).

Clash Club - Same as d.Edge. Cool electronic music venue but its best days are long gone.

What a solid club-based data sheet. Very updated for 2014 too.

Great info with tips on how to manipulate the "system" in each venue.

Sampa can be an overwhelming $$ city with tons of talent & a plethora of nightlife options that's hard to narrow down. The abundance of choices, high pricing, and fluctuating scene are factors that will prevent this city from ever getting played out for foreigners. Venues for personalities of all different types whether living here long-term or in "for business."

That's perfect described and really updated shotgun. There's good information even for myself, a local too. [Image: smile.gif]

I can say that I've been to Villa Mix for like 10 times and banged girls 9 times. Can't go wrong in that place. If you have money, camarote (VIP) is always recommended in basically most of SP's clubs.

Ballroom is one of my favorite clubs for "hot ninfetas"'. Thought it doesn't have such high % of DTF like KiaOra or Sertanejo places like Woods/Villa Mix.

PS: calling the club before and reserving a table is always a good option if you are willing to spend ~BRL 250.

Wait that's it for a table? Does it come with one bottle & mixers or perhaps two bottles?

On another note, will consider suicide if I can't lay a gal with a "camarote" deal at Villa Mix lol.

Shotgun is the real deal. Got to meet him in person...very slick player who has the edge of a Paulistano but the smooth operator skills of the Mineiro dudes I know without coming off as too caveman-ish (something the typical guy in Sampa is guilty of in club settings).

Miss Sao Paulo...I wonder what it would take for a gringo to sign a reasonable one month lease there.

70 for the table/entry, 180 you can spend as you want. If you do not spend it you will have to pay anyway. That's the consumação thing.

Usually the small tables (for 2) costs ~BRL 600 and you can drink BRL 400 (it also includes 2 entrances and skip the line). That's the avg table price for Woods, Villa Mix, Ballroom, etc. BRL 400 = 1 bottle of Cyroc vodka + mixers.

PS: table inside the camarote (VIP) is always better than a table in the dance floor only (not VIP), as girls love being taken to the VIP area.

Great list, shotgun.

Good to see so many players from SP together.

I must admit that your posts give me the impression we live in different worlds though. I have nothing against it, but I just can't see myself spending BRL200+ in one night. I usually go to much cheaper, alternative places, but I'm sure you're killing it and I can definitely see the upsides.

What do you guys think of a SP meetup?

9 out of 10 at Villa Mix, that's a very impressive record. Congrats. [Image: thumb.gif] I have mixed feelings about that place, I had a couple of miserable nights where I bombed, and many others where I pulled successfully.

I need to go back to Ballroom, the last time I was there the talent was pretty good, but I went with a girl I was hooking up with.

Drop some data on these places then, if you don't mind. I usually don't go to these cheaper places, mostly because I don't know where they are. Everything seems so expensive in SP these days. I agree that paying BRL 200+ in one night is a lot, and I think the ROI in SP nightlife is not the best, if you compare it to Europe, for example (but there are worse places like Miami and LA). Thanks to Tinder, my cost per notch dropped dramatically this year. [Image: lol.gif]

I like the idea of a meetup!

There is no way I do that often here around my city in the US. At max..I usually spend 80 Reais around Dallas/Ft. Worth..not to mention I don't get too drunk and drive around everywhere. Sao Paulo = expensive man...but when I was there...when in Rome..spend at those venues.

Is you current Ringo's SP sheet still active for cheap places? What about botecos/restaurants that are good for saying hello to groups of women at tables? During my last night..got a makeout and information exchange running street game in Jardins....should've kept doing it but ended up at Provocateur again, which lead to another makeout and more exchanged info. No bangs in Sampa yet...[Image: dodgy.gif]

Yeah most def. I agree with that part in bold. I will say...the "hipster" chicks in Sao Paulo are actually quite hot..maintaining their femininity & long hair. I think like you...was too preppy for them...at least in regards to a ONS, haha. Will switch to a casual plaid flannel shirt if heading to one of their venues next time.

Got a few Tinder contacts & still talk to these gals via app in say Porto Alegre...but since there are already so many Asian guys in Sampa...wasn't so "exotic" there. Only got connections with 50 year olds, haha.

I don't believe so.

It's a good question though because we could use some good data on:

Sao Jose dos Campos
Campinas
Santos
Campos do Jordao (Winter Vacay spot)

within the state of Sao Paulo. Might as well just check wikitravel for now!

I think I'm a bit older than the others in this thread and I'm past my club phase and more into smaller low key venues. Below are a few cool and relatively inexpensive places in Consolação (aka "the poor side" of Av. Paulista).

Bar Exquisito: Can be a happy our spot, first stop out on a night out on Rua Augusta, or a final destination. Good vibe, slightly artsy/hipster crowd but not annoyingly so. Not recommended if out solo.

Kabul: Hipsterish live music spot. The crowd can be hit or miss depending on the night and the act (so research ahead), but I've had good times there. Consumação ~R$ 50.

Igrejinha: Another cool, low key place similar to Exquisito. Slightly less hip and not as good looking, but still worth checking out for a drink or two.

Dex Bar: Hit and miss rock bar. Went there twice, first time there was a good ratio of young chicks (proximity to Mackenzie) and second it was a sausage fest. Inexpensive cover so if it sucks you can cut early and find something else to do on Rua Augusta without hurting the wallet too much.

Very good data sheet.
Vila mix doesn't seem easy at all, it's very encouraging to see its doable from solo approaches. On the other hand, I agree that Wood is pretty pointless without a camelote. I went with the normal entry of r80 and there were hardly any girls downstairs. Most were upstairs in the VIP area.
D edge: there are still some nice girls on Thursdays, but it's a long line usually. Mondays are ok too with some small groups, there are some Italian girls we met, but overall the place isn't as good as the name suggest now.
Casa 92: this place is a social proof place, especially on a weekday like Thursday, as there are a lot of people going there after work and quite group oriented. I had much better results going there with a large group versus going with one other friend. With the new extended area, they also increased their prices, and becoming more like a social place than a club. It used to be a gringo friendly place, but now seem like there are more brazilians. There seem to be a lot of early thirties girls there.
Lions club: why don't u like the people there? Is it because they are too young types?
Bar secreto: nice club that's difficult to tell the ratios inside. One thing we did was asking the bouncer if we could check it out before hand, instead of relying on the ratio of the line. Sometimes this is possible.
Club A: a good place to be on a Saturday afternoon. But the entrance is quite steep. It seems like there is more of a social vibe in the afternoon, and them turns into a party after sunset. Need to be careful about how much to drink as the night party is also pretty good but a lot of people are too drunk by then having been there for hours. Girls are dressed very stylish and although not as sexy as in Vila mix in short dresses. I see it as a place where u need a lot of endurance and obviously money to spend.
Vila country: pretty good place with a lot of traffic and there are a lot of players looking to pick up there. The room with fountain especially. It also opens until quite late.

To be honest, I only went there once, and bombed. People seemed way too group oriented. No problem with young people as long as they're ready to mingle. Otherwise I will feel like the old guy in the club.

The recent second hand accounts I got were that this club has pretty much turned into a gay venue.

Very solid and up to date datasheet Shotgun
I was gonna drop a São Paulo's night clubs datasheet but there is no need to after this one, so I will just add my 2 cents. Keep in mind that I'm also a local.

O'Malleys It's a Pub close to Paulista avenue that attracts gringo and girls (not pros) that want to meet a foreigner and speak english. Not my kind of venue, but it's an option for foreigners.

Gracia bar This is a restaurante/bar close to Faria Lima and Casa 92 that has a nice sunset party on sundays late afternoon/night with a dj in the lounge and some benches outside on the sidewalk. Good talent and worth checking out, but hard to mingle between groups as its focused on social circles.

About the clubs listed by Shotgun
Kiaora always has[/b] some DTF girls in their late 20's mid 30's during the week. Villa Mix and Provocateur have the best talent but they can get kind of expensive. In my experience its hard to pull from Provocateur, girls are often closed in their groups and are the rich/snob kind. Villa Mix on the other hand is much easier to approach and create leads/pull. I didn't have as much luck regarding SNL as other posters here (9 out of 10 is really impressive O_cartola).
Villa Country is also pretty good. The quality is not as high as Villa Mix, but this place is huge and girls go there looking to hookup. Bar secreto is small. Last time I went there 2012 it had some cute hipster girls.
I've never been inside Ballroom, but at least looking outside it looks like it has the worst ratios in São Paulo. I often see dozens of guys for a couple a girls in the smoking area.

Any meetups going on in SP?

Thanks for the tips on OMalley's and Gracia Bar. I know some out of towners that like to visit those places (Brazilian out of town females).

Thursday Night Provocateur - Issue here would be the models and total bitch shields. Go early...ONS can be difficult...

Sat Night Provocateur - Got a makeout with an ok face milf with fake tits. I kinda ditched her for this other girl (existing contact) as that ended up not working out because I was cockblocked not to mention her friend was goo-goo-ga-ga for the mofos wingman. Nothing happened there...but in all fairness home girl was not going to come home with me even though she texted me like crazy through Whatsapp once I got back home to the US 2 days later.

I'd say Sat night had the friendlier more outgoing chicks that one can exchange info & makeout with...including models too...but for ONS? Likely harder...especially for the dudes that were headhunting me.

I am heading to Sao Paulo and Rio soon. Thanks for the info!

Check out Pimp Game, Picking Up Strippers, The Fun Way!, Weaponized: Add Cold Reading to your arsenal! and Tarot Game.

Game isn’t what I use to get what I want out of women.
Game is what I use to get what I want out of life.
