Inside New York’s new playpen for millionaires

Here's an interesting article regarding a very "exclusive" new restaurant in Manhattan, Beautique. The NY Times really went quite crazy with this article. It's about high value men who come into this spot with hot, young women. Sometimes they come in with like 5-7 women at a time. Seems more exclusive than a lot of the nightclubs even. Probably yet another testament to hypergamy in one of the world's alpha cities (NYC). Check it out:

Is this satire? It literally reads like an updated version of the vapid and pretentious social scenes from American Psycho.

I mean look at this shit:

Quote:Quote:

A suited, bushy-haired Hains slaps his buddy high-five and then, for good measure, slaps Sushko on the behind.

...

“Leo [DiCaprio], Dylan McDermott, Maxwell, the guy from the Strokes . . . countless others. They’ve all been here,” says Beautique managing director Frank Roberts, who previously managed Gramercy Park Hotel’s Rose Bar, known for its tough door and free-range models.

...

“Every time we’ve come here, there have always been many, many beautiful women,” says 37-year-old Rudy Gofman, who was recently holding court in a corner booth with his wife, Eka, and former USA soccer player Cobi Jones.

“She used to be a model,” says Gofman of the missus.

“Now I’m housewife,” chimes in the Ukrainian stunner.

...

“If anyone looks the part — good-looking, upscale, classy, A-list — they’re more than welcome,” explains Evans, 47, who guards the normally touristy stretch like it’s the hottest downtown block in NYC.

...

Those brave enough to wiggle their way through the kitchen’s tiny corridor will be greeted by a dimly lit “secret” lounge with stools clad in Jean Paul Gaultier silk upholstery. Everyone from models Iman and Joan Smalls to movie honcho Harvey Weinstein and chef Eric Ripert have been spotted there.

...

“I think Beautique is upscale and goes in line with who I am: elegant and sophisticated,” says birthday boy Alexander, who hosted Douglas Elliman president Howard Lorber and Sir Ivan Wilzig, who throws raucous parties at his infamous Hamptons “castle.”

...

“We met a couple of years ago in church,” Bojaj says of her friends.

“No, no,” corrects Samove, in a red, body-hugging dress and matching Celine bag.

“I thought at church, no? Oh, OK, at Lavo,” clarifies Bojaj, in a black sequined frock with a matching black sequined Chanel purse.

...

“We’re going to the Hamptons for the Fourth of July and then South of France, so …,” Rosetti says with a shrug.

...

“It feels like how my parents described the Playboy Club back in the day,” says Lee, who recently sat next to Kim Kardashian’s bestie and E! star Jonathan Cheban at dinner.

“I love it there,” says Lee. “It’s a very pretentious place.”

Is the high end NYC social scene really like this? Truly revolting. These people seem about as likeable as toenail fungus.

When you get past the mystique, prestige and status, the people in 'high end social scenes' are every bit as venal and vapid as people in more vulgar circumstances.

Such a venue would have a different vibe in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, DC, Toronto and San Francisco - and they'd all be vapid and pretentious in their own way.

Seeing scenes like these makes me respect hookers and johns more - instead of spending thousands of dollars on bottle service and such to seduce some club slut into bed, you give the money to her directly, and considerably less of it. Prostitution is the greatest form of 'disintermediation' as the techies call it, eliminating the middleman.

Regardless of the 'attitudes' that pervade places like this, guaranteed the hottest chicks in NYC will be inside.

I like joints like this, but I also like pretentious spots. At least I'm honest. [Image: lol.gif]

Ha yeah man you go where the pussy is. I just can't stand people, men or women, who make up some phony bullshit reason for being there - i.e. for something besides the hot women and monied men.

I get your point.

*That new joint Davy Wayne's or Wayne Davy's in Hollywood, can't remember how it goes, is pretentious, but it's all in how you present yourself and deal with the door, as you know. I've been a couple of times (once with you) and there's some solid girls there.

Question for Christian McQueen: could a guy of average/below average looks (think of Owen Cook of RSD for thought experiment purposes) get into a place like this purely on rapport and "game" at the door? Or would Jesus Christ himself have to bring a few hot girls?

Dr Johnson rumbles with the RawGod. And lives to regret it.

It's always funny to me how in America, even rich guys just have terrible style. Dudes will have million dollar homes that look the part, but when it comes to their wardrobe, they look like they work at a 70's themed Office Depot or something.

That's a silly question. It's like the old story of a gentile who asked a certain great rabbi to teach him the Torah while standing on one foot. If you're serious about accomplishing something, what you don't do is limit how you can achieve it. If bringing hot girls with you will work, then do that. You're limiting yourself because... why? So you can get more validation from other people for achieving something by making it harder to accomplish?

If his game was that good, then bringing hot girls to the spot to get in shouldn't be such a difficulty.

How you dress and your swagger have nothing to do with your looks. To be honest most ballers I know are below average looking.

Rock at least a tailored suit, be ready to spit some 'game' at the door guy following these tips, and you'll be fine. If you don't have girls then go solo.

Bringing hot girls is the easiest way to get into a hot spot, but the second easiest way is to roll solo. It's much easier for a door guy to let 1 guy slip in quick, then a wolf pack.

Perfect example, although it's because they're spending money and are probably socially connected in the scene in NYC, is the guys in the photo: I would consider them average looking and the girls are nothing special.

You're much more acquainted with high-end American nightlife than I am, but if the women in the above pictures are representative of the quality, I'm not 100% sold.

My experience with the high-end is that yeah you definitely get some stunners, but you can find stunners in the lower echelons of society as well. Maybe sporting cutoff jean shorts and with their tits busting out of their shirts but stunners nonetheless.

Rich guys seem to like a broad spectrum of women, just like other guys, and you see them with ugly or okay-looking birds a lot as well.

The girls who hang with these guys are often hot, but it's more their fashion-sense and their composure that makes them really stand out. You see women just as hot and hotter in other places, but they just don't have the same vibe about them.

That vibe can definitely be attractive in itself, but it's worth pointing out.

But again, I'm not hosting actors in some of the most popular clubs in the states on a regular basis, so I could just have no clue what the fuck I'm talking about.

I'll also add that I like pretentious places too. More for the service, the quality of the food and drinks, the decor and music, and the fact that some accomplished people are more interesting and know how to have a good time than anything else. I also really like women who go all out to get dressed up.

But sometimes trashier crowds (or just the mainstream) can be just as target-rich and fun, in my opinion.

Beyond All Seas

"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
To be your own man is a hard business. If you try it, you'll be lonely often, and sometimes
frightened. But no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Kipling

Went to Good Times at Davy Waynes a few weeks ago. It's a cool spot.

The way these articles describe 'high end' places makes them seem worse than they are. I'm sure my experience is a lot less than most people here, but I've been to a few and they were all a lot of fun.

In my experience, the difference between these places and others is that they are less crowded and the women are mostly super hot, or at least there are a lot less busted women. That, and the hot women will automatically talk to you because they assume you are there because you have game.

So if given the opportunity, by all means go. They're not as stuffy as they seem to be. Plus, as stated above, most rich guys have no style, but that may be because a lot of them are faking it. I'm not perfect, but at least I know how to match.

Well - the club makes it easier for the 50+ millionaire, who wants to hook up with some 7+ girl.

Some of the guys in the pics are Players. The article is of course crap.

The reality is more brutal. Players with Game get the most pussy there, while the Betas are the ones being hunted by the women. But at least they get some there.

It is not such a raw deal - even for a RVF Player past 50, who has the cash and feels a bit awkward doing Yad-stops on the street like he used to do.

The guy to the right with his shirt open - typical high-end Player - some of those buggers have been like that in their 20s and never stopped - some of those are my friends - nice coke-heads with trust-funds - their IQs are usually sufficient to perform at their handed jobs, so they are more or less normal:

I don't rate any of those women. The two most presentable ones are right at the wall. Looks like a million dollars doesn't buy you much.

I've picked up hotter women riding through a town and pretending to be an out of work biker.

What I was expecting:

Not to throw a wash on the party here, but this is a restaurant. You can go make reservations on open table for it. Probably similar to Catch in MPD.

The NY Post will attempt to create some sensationalist article over just about anything.

Exactly. I have never had any issues getting access to the most fabled doors anywhere because all it requires is the planning of coming early and grabbing something of the menu.

rsd instructors struggle to get into top venues. They rarely stay in any one city long enough to develop connections and typically have a few shitty dressed boot camp students in tow

LOL, this is just a very pure NY Post article pumping up this particular establishment. The exact same article has been written at least a hundred times about different NYC venues.

If you can't mildly relish this kind of lively boilerplate and its stately, venerable, and rather cozy and copacetic cliches ("hedge fund titan" lol), then I don't know what to tell you. [Image: confused.gif]

Some rich folks dont really care because they dont have to prove anything.

This guy has 2 motel budings in hollywood and west hollywood, has a house in hollywood hills (probably more, who knows) he is a jew and maybe in his 40s.
He drives e36 bmw (the one i bought when i was in college, 10 years ago because it was cheapest bimmer i could have) and dresses like one of maintenance people.

When i realized he was the owner, i had a respect for him.
Would he care if i would think of him as some average joe?

i dont respect those rich folks (usually entertainment, athlethes) who have money but spend it in a trashy way. (Eg: dropping $$$ on ghetto riders, obnoxious jewerlies, making rain in front of hoodrat strippers)

Completely true. The richest people I know (a billionaire and a couple 100s millionaire families) don't flaunt it. They have better than average cars, huge but outwardly unremarkable homes and send their kids to the best universities they could get into.

In my experience, its always been musicians, athletes and criminals who've spent conspicuously. People who have a high income for only a few years spend the most. The real rich, however, try to hide their wealth. When you're worth a billion dollars, you have enough self-appreciation to care about what everyone and their family thinks about you.

I can confirm this. Look at it this way, most wealthy people are pretty low key. You don't notice them. The few that are into obvious shows of wealth really stick out. Most of the people I've met that "seem" rich are living month to month.

Good points. While you can definitely find hot women in all types of environments, I also like joints like this for the networking to be had. Many of the business opportunities I've been fortunate to get, came from places like this with wealthy men who were bored and interested in investing money into a club etc. It's hard to meet ballers at Sonic [Image: lol.gif]
