Central Coast, finding local gems.

Central Coast, finding local gems.

I've been road travelling around West Coast area for a while.

When I drove from Seattle to LA, I took coast highway and stopped by few small towns. I LOVE those small cities!!

I am driving from LA back to Seattle. I am taking longer route to visit small towns again on the way

Right now, I am in San Luis Obispo.

My first impression, I was driving around downtown and I noticed just more women (all in shape, properly dressed) walking around with very friendly vibe.
(If you go to a good neighborhood, this is the first thing you will notice. younger fit women walking around.)

I lived in Salt Lake City, Utah for 10 years and I feel like home.
It's mostly Americans (aka White) I really don't see minorities. (don't get me wrong, I am one of them.)
Since it's a college town (cal poly), there are many young people.
The street is clean. there is no ghetto neighborhood or people (LA...sigh)
I see women noticing me. (I don't know if that's because I am rare or it's just a small town making eye contact thing) I never felt that in LA.

The women dresses more traditional manner than girls like in LA. LA girls might look hotter (more makeup, expensive attire, more skin exposure) but girls here have more pure beauty.(less makeup, simple and classy clothes)

In the end, I see cute next door type girls whom you would take to your parents, everywhere.

As far as gaming goes, I don't know. I think you need to rent out the room at least for a month and keep hitting the local places.

Most guys just want to go to places like LA, SF, Vegas etc to hit the hottest spot when they travel. I lived in small town for a while. So I always wanted to go to big cities. But it wears off pretty quick. You are surrounded by nice things, lots of people but you don't feel that connection with people.

Please don't ignore the town like this when you travel.

I am going to Monterey next. It has the same vibe there.

Central Coast Cities for Game from many sources:

1) Santa Barbara
2) Santa Cruz
3) San Luis Obis (nicknamed SLO (slow) for a reason)

Never heard of any others.

Dude, I hope you are sticking on highway 1 the entire way up North. Some of the best scenery in the country is in Big Sur. Not to be missed.

Just south of Monterey there is a state reserve. Point Lobos.

If you can get there early in the morning to explore the rocky coast and tide pools, do it.

I had a good night. Met a pretty hot local girl whos originally from bay area. She even bought me a glass of wine and took my number. Im guessing its because we have the same interest maybe. After all, those two things usually dont happen when I go out. So im pretty satisfied.

I think i was the only guy with a blazer (kept very casual. T shirts underneath, casual pants with sneakers) Other guys were all wearing casual clothes like utah. So if you dress up bit nice (suiting up is trying too hard here), you will stand out from the crowd.
Im going to settle down in LA. Instead of going to vegas on weekends, id rather come here 100%.

Go try your luck in Carmel and Monterey for game. I am sure you can find some spots there with wealthy golf tourists and the like. Check out Nepenthe near there for great food over the cliffs of Big Sur.
