I'm 17 from NY. Thinking of doing something in economics and finance at uni, but would like to set up some passive income as well. Not sure where I'll apply in the U.S... but thinking about how expensive student loans are gonna get with this economy McGill in Canada is looking more appealing because 1)good reputation 2) is really cheap compared to other schools of similar quality, and 3)its in Montreal, which I had a great time visiting before but all the raving on the forum about Montreal has got me eager to go back [Image: biggrin.gif]

17, thats awesome! I think we are the two youngest guys on the forum.
The only problem with Montreal is the brutal winters. I wouldn't ever want to be there during the winter. Toronto is cold but quite a bit warmer than Montreal during the coldest winter months.

What kind of passive income are you thinking about? Shoot me a PM and we can talk about things from our perspective.

@torontokid.

better make that 3! i am 17 aswell..

A passive income that's working for me is that i have a pretty close elder friend (know him through my dad). And i get 5 % from all the money that a gym makes, and all i have to do is setting up posters, handing out some flyers around town, and at my school. like 2-3 times a year.
Then i also work a bit as a personal trainer at my dad's gym when i'm not studying.

im 17 (please dont ban me) and im living with my brother and my father in naples, fl. right now we are trying to open an in door flea market that went into forclosure.
ive been here for over a month now and so far its going really shitty, i havent been payed a fucking cent, im gaining weight and losing muscle like a mofo because my dad is too fucking lazy and cheap to by anything but forzen pizzas and fast food, my dad has gone into detox/rehab twice already because hes adicted to ambien (hes so bad he ate 60 pills in 4 days) and zanax and hes an alci, i dont get any fucking respect because my older brother is always taking my leads (we are looking for vendors to fill up the mall) so my dad thinks that he is doing all the work, and my dad is a fucking slob so im always cleaning up after him, and im really starting to doubt this thing is going to work because we have to fill 200 spaces by feb 3rd, and we only have 20.
but on the up side if this works my dad says he will pay me 500 a week, and he started taking new meds (seraquil and some other shit) that seems helps him with his anxiety and sleep deprivasion so he seems to be doing better.
the only other choice i have right now is to move in with my sister in tampa. she says that she can get me a job as a waiter or a bus boy at this place called lee roy selmans, and probably get payed 300-500 dollars a week, and she just got her ass beat by her ex boyfriend so she wants someone to live with her.
i doubt im going to get any advice that wil really help but if you were in my shoes would you; A. live with my dad and bust your ass until febuary and hope for the best. B. live with my sister and get the waiting job OR C. slash your wrists

Pick Tampa. Your story sounds about the same as everyone else your age here.

Hi, I'm 18, English and at Uni studying theoretical physics.

I think an overlooked disadvantage of being a student as opposed to a young guy with a job is that, given I'm poor as fuck, I can't afford to look good going out unless I go out less.

Just my tuppence worth.

Just posted in the official intro thread, doh, probably better suited here.

I'm just 21, at a UK university studying Economics BSc, with a job in London secured in 2013 after interning this summer.

I turned 17 a month ago. I joined the forum when I was 16 1/2. I think I'm the youngest here. From Melbourne, Australia.

Congratulations, tough to do these days. Want to be more specific? I was a Nottingham man.

19, and go to a local university in NJ. i was gonna go to Fordham originally, but it's expensive as fuck and they gave me no money.

Also, I commute cuz I'm already taking a shit lode of loans just for the tuition, which sucks balls and I feel like I'm so separated from my school and the students where over 85% of them dorm. My mom's really fucking protective and I have like a billion brothers and sisters and share my room with my younger bro, and I have to watch them all the time, so I really yearn for that "independence" and "freedom" crap all my friends keep saying they have in college =P

Any tips from fellow poor commuters with protective mommies? I wanna get out of my "comfort zone" so bad.

PS: I apologize for bitching.

It could be worse. When I was 19, I had tons of freedom and nobody to watch over. I was living out of the back of my car. [Image: dodgy.gif] I'm 23 now, and just now finally getting my life back on track...my family is nutty, my brother was dealing dope, and, with no education or money, I'm stuck in a ghetto.
Probably leads in well with my next question...how to start getting "in the swing of things" and getting out again and getting pussy after two year period of severe depression and losing your job?

hey guys I'm 21 here in montreal just swallowed the red pill over the summer after being constantly pissed at not getting any play in this great city and undoing all the beta social conditioning my parents involved me in. Oh and I go to McGill so for who ever's interested I can tell you a bit about some of the social scene and what's going on.

I'm 17 and in Toronto. I'm in my last year of high school and looking to make things happen. Working on some business ideas but they are not online business(thought of one online business too but it was too expensive).

Hit me up if you're in Toronto to chill.

If I was from Toronto and about to go to university, I would definitely try to go to university in Montreal. There are some great universities there that are also some of the cheapest in Canada. Great environment for game and culture. Montreal rent is also way cheaper than Toronto. Quebec has some of the highest income taxes in Canada, but as a poor student that doesn't matter at all since you'll be paying no taxes probably and it makes everything else cheaper. Family would also be close and cheap to get to (take a car or bus), but not too close so you can grow as your own person.

Do you guys ever feel like you don't know what to do with life? Do you recommend a long vacation abroad to find out what it is you want?
