Grad School in D.C.

Hey fellas,

Love reading all the posts here daily and thought you all would have some great insight for me about Washington, D.C.

Little background: I've spent some time in D.C. before and know the downtown area pretty well, but I was under 21 so I haven't been around the night scene. I'll be going to grad school at Georgetown this fall and will be living in the immediate Georgetown area. I'm basically entering D.C. with no expectations about the women as I am well aware of its reputation for sucking with the chicks. Also, having lived mostly in CA and FL, I know the women will be a downgrade already so I'm just trying to have some fun while I'm there.

One a positive note, I do love international women (who doesn't these days, right?) and have heard some decent things about that type in D.C. I'm pretty much interested in any woman college-aged to 35ish.

So, what are some great places/bars/etc. to game in the city? Any tips for ways I can get the most out of my 2 years there?

Thanks guys.

If you take me off ignore, maybe I can give you some ideas via P.M. Also, you resumed posting after an almost five-year hiatus. That may be some kind of record.

ha I'm much more of a "lurker" here I guess, but it's a weekly read. Don't know what "ignore" is, but I'll take a look and see how I can get you off. Much appreciated.

EDIT: It says my ignore list is empty, so I think you should be good.

Lot of fly girls at Georgetown -- especially in the SFS. Definitely live up in Glover Park or Dupont and your logistics will be pretty good from the bars. The Tombs is the "go-to" bar for Georgetown students, but it's mostly overrun with undergrads. Grad students typically do a lot of house parties.

God speed, sir!

Thanks for the comment! Did some quick research on The Tombs and it got rated one of the best college bars in the US according to one source. Not bad.

I'm not planning on bringing a car and I'd prefer to walk to campus (and just take a cab/bus to a metro to go out anywhere else), so it sounds like Glover Park might be a better choice than Dupont. Is Glover Park walkable to campus and the bars, though?

I tried to send you a long-winded P.M., but you either have me on ignore or for some other reason are unable to receive P.M.s from me. If you want, I can send the P.M. to HungWeiLo and hopefully he can do me the favor of forwarding it to you.

Shit - I had the settings to "not accept PM's from other members." No idea why that was unchecked. You should be good now!

There are some areas where you can just walk up and down the street and check out several bars/lounges/restaurants. If you're going to Georgetown, you can spend the majority of time on/near campus and still have tons of options. For a little older/different crowd go to 14th Street. I left DC a few months ago, but even then every week there was a new restaurant or cafe opening up.

Thanks man! I will be at Gtown. Just from my short visit there a few months ago, the area by the school seemed to have a lot of things going on with various restaurants, bars, etc. all within the general walking area. I'll be sure to mark down 14th street as well.

The best thing about grad school is the flexible schedule. Make sure to travel and do some daygaming as you will for sure have downtime during the day. I'd advise daygaming at some other university (GWU? American?).

If anyone has any suggestions bar-wise in Georgetown, Dupont Circle, Adams Morgan, etc. that would be great. Roosh has a list on his website but it's 7 years old so not sure that is a good one to follow haha

I'll give you the cliff notes. Yelp.com and choose DC then pick bars and then sort by the type of nightlife you are into.

Not sure what, "what kind of nightlife you are into" means? Pick from below.

Maintream Post College Top 40 bar? Dupont Circle (Lucky bar, Buffalo Billards, Mad Hatter etc)

Rich College Girls who aren't likely to fuck an old dude unless you are part of their social circle? (Tombs, Rhino Bar, Whatever Gin and Tonic now calls itsetf)

Girls who wear perls necklaces (prolly both kinds) The expensive places in Gtown

Fancy Restaurant Beer Nerd Land Anything that isn't a nightclub that has openend since 2012 near 14th ST, Ust and most of Logan Circle This style of bar is bleeding into Top 40 Post college land and hybrids are starting to occur now that Craft beer has gone mainstream.

Fancy Restaurant Craft Cocktail Bar 14th Street (Ghibelina, Barcelona, 2Birds, Gibson, Jack Rose Saloon)

Girls with Fake IDs and Recent Grads Adams Morgan

Younger girls who dont' have rich dads and probably lean hipsterish Columbia Heights, Petworth, and Shaw Dive bars

This is awesome man, much appreciated. I like all kinds of venues. I can do bars, clubs, live music (heard The Black Cat is good for that?), country bars (acre121?)...you name it. A lot of where I go depends on who I'm with, of course. Consider this printed! We'll see if I can get into that "rich college girls" social circle after a few months going to school there haha
