TA what do you think about the cops down there? Are they regularly trying to shake down gringos? Have you had any issues?

In TJ I have never had a problem. If you do get pulled over for a traffic citation my recommendation from an police chief I know is to say "look I apologize and I am in a hurry and do not have time to go into the station so would you please pay the fine for me and offer $20." In recent years they started firing cops giving tourists a hard time. Of course anything is possible. They have really started cracking down hard on DUI's and now checkpoints can be seen as often as in the US.

I just have some questions about Tijuana and unfortunately I'm not sure the answers to my questions can be found on this thread, so I will ask some questions. Are there any decent, reasonably priced places to rent there for a week or so? The places I found online were few and far between and were pretty expensive. Is staying on or near the beach a logistical nightmare, as much of the city center is pretty far inland? Are there any shuttle services which take you from the San Diego airport to the Tijuana side of the border and/or downtown Tijuana? Will the hotels cockblock you? If so, which ones?
