Day Game in the Street - Colombia

Walking around on my lunch break from work in Bogota, it is stunning how many cute girls I pass in the street. Long story short: I got out of an LTR not too long ago, and my skills approaching women I don't know in the street, not so great to begin with, are rusty. Not gonna lie, the idea of cold approaching a pretty girl makes me a little nervous, and without something prepared to riff on I just know I'm gonna go blank. What are some good openers for breaking the ice with a girl I want to talk to? Keep in mind, I am not fresh off the plane, I have lived here for a little while, and my spanish is pretty decent, so I don't think I can pull the whole "rube fresh off the plane asking for directions" thing off. Any guys with specific Colombian insight, or with day game from anywhere, I'd love to hear your thoughts. All I got rattling around my head at the moment is asking what time it is...I need some help for sure.

''Hey how you doing, i have just moved around here and im trying to get to know new people, are you from here''

Man i usually say whatever comes into my mind, i dont have anything pre-programmed in my head and to tell you the truth aint nothing extraordinary..actually the more natural you sound the better..just approach every girl you see, then you wont even be concerned with what you say, you will be more concerned in appproaching..it would be good if you had a good homie that was always approaching.

Can't believe this thread hasn't received more replies. Here are some thoughts off the top of my head:

1) The "asking for directions or the time" is pretty weak if that's all you do. What you need to do is interrupt her while she's giving you a response and say something like "you know what, I don't really care what time it is, I just wanted to chat with you". You need the right tone of voice to pull this off, a bit of cocky/funny.

2) Say something like "excuse me, you look familiar, have we met before?".

3) Go to a grocery store, pick up a strange looking food item, look for a cute girl/clerk, and say something like "what is this? Is this food, am I supposed to eat this, etc?". Again, a bit of cocky/funny works well here. You can do a lot with the grocery store cause there are lots of foods/items that probably don't exist in your native country.

4) If you see someone sitting down, approach and ask to practice your spanish with them.

5) If you see someone with some food that looks good (like ice cream) say "hey that looks good, where'd you get that". Or even better, throw in a bit of cocky/funny "hey that looks good, can I have a bite???"

6) If someone has headphones on tell them that you're looking for some new music to listen to and ask what they're listening to/recommend.

7) Ask for recommendations for places to eat, bars to go to, etc. Yeah, you've been in Bogota for a bit but tell her that you're tired of always going to the same places and want to try something different.

Go to you tube and type in David Wygant. He's got some good material on day game and situational openers.

Hope this helps! Would love to see what others have to say.

Walking in the street or the mall...You see a cute girl and first you go for the eyecontact (or maybe she is eye-fucking you already) and smile....then just quick talk to invite her for a coffee or icecream...Or just to get the phonenumber and facebook exchange.

In my home country i would not do this so direct, but when i''m another country or even another city...i just think...WTF i will never come back here/ nobody knows me here...Nothing to lose

Do Colombian girls know English at all? Can someone put up pictures of some typical Colombian guys and girls? I want to see how similar I look to them

Colombian don't really have a typical look. You'll see all different types.

As for english, I've found that the college educated ones can generally understand some english but lack the confidence to speak it.

I'd think the best approach would be to pretend your new to the city...

Bogota has an almost new york type of feel... people don't trust strangers, and theres a lot of roberies and crimes, and scams... so when you go indirect and the girl doesn't know your intentions she might think you've got other agendas...

Maybe you can start off indirect (asking for directions etc., don't ask for the time, it's too quick) for a quick second just to get her attention and then go direct, but I think the overall approach would have to be a bit direct, but at the same time, make it known you're new (even if you aren't, you can clarify later)... Just to break the ice... At least that's what I would do...

Ajiaco, have you ever tried gaming on Transmilenio?

In Transmilenio, as you're gringo you can try the typical opener of the Gringo: "¿Tu sabes si este bus para en [Station]?".

Or an easier one: "Hola" ... she will answer beacause most girls are polite enough to answer then you ask her some directions like: "¿Sabes dónde queda Juan Valdez/Bogotá Beer Company/la Universidad de los Andes/etc?"

After that little and easy opener you star bantering and telling her that you're lost and that she can be your tourist guide:

"Es que estoy un poquito perdido y no sé donde queda todo por acá..."
"Tú podrías ser mi guía turística"
You can ask her where is she from: "¿Are you costeña/paisa?" (if she's not she will ask you "Why you think that?" and you answer that she has an air, "Es que pareces Costeña/Paisa".
You can tease her telling her that she is more lost than you when she doesn't know the answer: "Tu estás más perdida que yo"

After that you can flirt a little, you can tell her that you think she's cute and you can flirt as you know (Colombianas love gringos for their goofy accent when speaking spanish):

"Dime si lo digo bien: Me... pareces...muy/mucho(it's better to have a little grammar mistake)...linda..." (awww que tierno [Image: angel.gif])
"Me agradas mucho"
"Eres...muy/mucho(grammar mistake)...linda"

For closing: "Vamos a tomarnos algo algún día, dame tu número" ("Let's go for a drink someday, give me your number")

Ajiaco, It's better to start small, I'm not an expert but I think I have managed to get some succeses beacause I've been disciplined with this and I have kept on making at least one approach per day, at least one.

I will leave you an assingment: Ask for directions to 5 different girls today/tomorrow and tell us your experiences.
