Would Americanizing your name help you get laid?

One thing I've always wondered is why so many Asian parents from certain backgrounds always give their children European names to use on top of their legal Asian names. Most Asians where I'm at are ethnic Chinese or Vietnamese so I'm mainly talking about them, it's practically universal for them.

My first name is a common curry name and it's never hurt me, that said it is pretty easy to pronounce. Often times girls (ONLY ever white girls) will compliment me on my name when I tell them. I'm not actually sure why since it's a pretty ordinary name for my background, maybe they're just trying to flirt. A group of SWPLy girls JWLZG introduced me to were actually raving about my name one night, it was like they were fetishizing it, sometimes it pays not be a white man [Image: tongue.gif]

Interestingly my European last name is much more uncommon here (it's unmistakably non Anglo-Saxon) yet people never say or ask anything about that...

I don't think having an ethnic name is a problem game wise. The girls who will be turned off by an ethnic name are already turned off by your race anyway so unless your called Hardik Shittal or Ti Nee Kwok your name itself won't ever come into play.

Also like we all should I usually don't tell girls my name until they ask me first (a classic "IOI") so it's not even a factor until they're already interested.

correct, don't introduce yourself anyway to a girl, let her ask...it will either help or be neutral as the only reason she's asking is to continue conversation. You can also make a game of it if you have any reprehension using the good ol' "whats your name? Guess.." If you look very indian and have a name with 17 syllables and she guesses "Tom", you at least have the option to lie, or half lie and say 'Everyone calls me Mark"

My mom chose well and my name suits my look and is very unusual without sounding weird. Its the kind of name a nerdy fanboy or angsty alternative person would change their name to. So again, I paint that picture for a girl up front, then when she asks my name it just fits nicely into the puzzle and she usually says "ohhh, I love that name"...which is expected because I've already had her hooked with 10 minutes of interest by that point.

I feel like, talking to women to pick them up is like writing a romance novel or movie, on the fly, in which they are the main character....always be setting up the next scene while connecting the threads from the last one.

Another interesting observation - black American guys with ethnic names (Antwan, Keshawn, etc.) are less likely to date/ bang non-black girls than black guys with "white" names (Michael, Fred etc.).

Is this because of the name itself (makes the girl perceive the guy as ghetto) or because ghetto parents give their kids black names?

*Not trying to race-troll. Just interesting that black Americans, who are more integrated into American society than most Asians, may have the same issue with ethnic names.

Where did you get that stat from?

Personal observation. Black friends and acquaintances with ethnic names have fewer interracial relationships. IDK if this is because of social conditioning (they tend to be more into black-pride and such) or because of the impression the name creates. Maybe it isn't true and my observations aren't representative of reality.

I always tell them the Latin version of my name and then say "thats what my Grandma still calls me" and always get a great response.

Would Americanizing your name help you get laid?

While I have know experience with Americanizing my name (My name is totally fine), if you're ever out in a new city or just rolling solo just try telling a girl your name is something else. Doesn't matter what it is, nobody will call you out on it. It's an interesting experiment and for me, I found doing stuff like that kept my game fresh because I was always paying attention rather than being on autopilot the whole time. Works best if you're just passing through town though, otherwise you run the risk of girls you get to know/bang recognizing you in different contexts under a different name, which can cause some confusion and a bit of an awkward situation if you're not ready for it.

It's from the Onion so mostly a joke, though I find many Asians with traditionally 'white' names like in the chart.

Roosh gets laid all the time no. I am sure he goes by this name, and I doubt he'd have any problems.

That's not his real name. Not going to post it here but you can find it.

I don't go by my real (Indian) name in the States. In India, its a really cool name and doesn't hurt my game. In America, its a very Indian name and hurts my game. I either shorten it or go by the Americanized version. (Example - If my name was Sandeep, my nickname would be Sandy and my Americanized name would be something on the lines of Sanford).

Remember - The most beautiful women in any country will prefer to sleep with someone who is culturally similar.

When in Rome, do as the Romans do

If your name is Sandeep or Sudip, you should have a nickname of "Deep". I know Indian guys that were actually cool that did this.

Edit
Tho admittedly, they didn't pull american women, but they pulled Indian women.

My parents weren't cruel enough to give me a super FOB name so I wouldn't really know. Just trying to make an example.

Slightly unrelated but Bobby Jindal wouldn't be Governor if he went by Piyush (his real name).

An Indian-American is running for Governor of California – his name is easy to pronounce Neel Kashkari.
Some Indian names are very easy for anybody to pronounce e.g. Arun.

With Indian names the northern names tend to be quite short and easy to pronounce whereas the south Indian names are very long and hard to pronounce. I remember a couple of years at my graduation ceremony a really long South Indian name was read out by the white dean – he got a round of applause when he finished.

I’m guessing Deluge’s last name is Portuguese? I’ve come across Sri Lankans and Indians with an Indian first name and a Portuguese last name.

In my experience regarding names:
  • Chinese-Americans – nearly always have an American first name and Chinese middle name.
  • Korean-Americans – most have an American name and Korean middle name. The American names are usually based on the Bible (a lot of Korean Americans are Christian). However, Korean names are pretty easy to pronounce so a lot of their kids do have full Korean names.
  • Japanese-American – similar to Koreans, except that they don’t base their names on the bible
  • Indian-Americans – most have an Indian name. Very few with American names. If you ever meet an Indian-American with an American name, that’s his nickname. With British-Indians, a lot of them do have Britisih names.
  • Vietnamese-Americans – 50/50 in my experience. Their names aren’t difficult to pronounce, but some sound funny like Phuc and Bich.

English, Portuguese and Dutch surnames aren't uncommon for certain kinds of South Asians. All the ones I know with European first names are mixed-race or from Christian families though. I'm assuming by the 3rd generation it will be very common however judging from the U.K

nah. I have a very "black" name and I get a compliment on it at least once a month. I think taking the ethnic edge out of your name could be a detriment. However, I don't have top-notch game, so my opinion isn't necessarily solid.

that said. someone makes a joke about my name at least once a week, so that's kinda eh.

I will be checking my PMs weekly, so you can catch me there. I will not be posting.

Wow, I hope you are kidding, because that name is awful.
