Talking quietly... A "shit"/compliance test?
06-01-2014, 11:45 AM
I'm guilty of this... I'll ask a girl a question but the music is so loud that I can't hear what the heck she said. So I'll say,"what?" and lean in to hear better and let her talk towards my ear. Mistake, right? I'm being too considerate.
If only you knew how bad things really are.

It's a good test for her if you point for her to move in so you can hear.
If she shrugs and doesn't care if you hear, you shouldn't have asked the question yet because she's not invested. Talk louder and talk more.
Or just point at her mouth and do a motion to increase volume. If she talks louder/ leans in, she just jumped through a hoop for you.
This is true even for guys. If you can't hear them just state: " I can't hear you" (not needy. just as a statement) if they speak up, then you have compliance from them infront of the whole group. He is now following your orders to speak louder.
Never lean in.
If you can't do any better, you've settled. --me--

Makes sense. I subconsciously knew it was wrong somehow when I did it.
That's why this forum is so great... I just turned a "waste of a night" into a learning experience.

Make a motion and tell her she has some shit stuck in her teeth. Don't throw her under the bus in a group, but, if you're alone (or pull her aside) just do the "you've got shit stuck in your teeth motion." Then she should lean into you to make sure the problem is solved. Now, you're a team. You've demonstrated higher value and knocked her off a rung or two. Then you can just say, "It's loud and I couldn't hear you well, and then I noticed your discrepancy. You were saying?"
No-lose situation after that. She's completely disarmed.
Don't ever lean in to a chick... It's a subtle form of supplication that no man should instinctually do...
