I remember that show well.
If only you knew how bad things really are.

OH boy, my favorite show as a kid makes a comeback.
This shit is quality.
But you don't have to take my word for it.

Wow, I'm surprised to hear it was on air until 2009.
Epic, old school, classic.
Epic, old school, classic.
About time we had some good news.
Nice!
Awesome! Such a great show. Looks like it's going to hit $3 Million in 3 days.
I still can't stop calling him Geordi Laforge.
Like a fucking G.
He's holding up pretty good. The cat is 57 years...
Straight fucking G.

Childhood memories, fuck yes to this !
Good to see the Washington Post keeping it classy. "Pop-culture Journalist" writes an article tries to bash Geordi Levar's efforts as pure greed.
Thankfully she is getting universally crushed in the comments, for such a shoddy piece of "journalism." The comments rightfully set the record straight:
Furthermore if you look at RR's kickstarter page you see two things, first that the initial goal of $1million would have provided free access to 1500 classrooms and I suppose based on the success they've upped the goal to $5million which would provide free access to 7500 classrooms. So Ms. Dewey's claim wasn't even accurate to begin with. Although it should be noted that her article was on the 28th and the updated goal of $5million was updated on the 30th, however, that still misses what the original goal of $1million would have provided.
Now our favorite part, about the author:

And just not to end on a sour note:

It will not, let’s be clear, replicate the classic show that aired from 1983 to 2009. (Burton bought the rights to that show and its name and used them to spin off another company, RRKidz, which produces a Reading Rainbow tablet app.) The Kickstarter would essentially expand on that app, making it available on the Web and updating it with special tools for teachers — not for free, as the classic show was on PBS, but at a monthly subscription cost.
Thankfully she is getting universally crushed in the comments, for such a shoddy piece of "journalism." The comments rightfully set the record straight:

The original show was funded by both federal revenue (read: our tax dollars) and private donations. We paid for it then; there was nothing "charitable" about it. Now, Mr. Burton and his team want to bring something back, at a cost, that will be an actual investment, funded voluntarily by donations coming from the public. So what if he has investors for the application he created; they probably were not willing to give more than they already had, so he asked others for the money. Stop spinning positive, academic initiatives like this into some sort of scam. People are not always being fleeced when they donate money to a cause. Redirect your efforts elsewhere.

Caitlin Dewey covers social media, Internet culture, and other disparate topics for the Washington Post. Her work has also appeared in The New York Times, The Atlantic and The Columbia Journalism Review. Caitlin herself once appeared on the Today Show, a moment her mother will never forget. She previously wrangled spreadsheets and ran a quirky financial Tumblr as the associate web editor of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance.
Caitlin lives in a lowly basement apartment in Northwest D.C., but grew up in Buffalo, N.Y. For more information, please check out her LinkedIn profile or Washington Post archive page.

Best definition of a SIF I've seen in a while.
I sort of remember that show. Caitlin Dewey has posted anti RVF stuff before and It think she wrote some batshit crazy stuff about puahate as well recently.
We know all about Dewey, she's a fat cunt with an annoying vocal fry/voice.
