Of course there is a rub to it that they don't mention, and that is that SMP value is used mainly to pre-screen, so that if you are perceived as undesirable by a woman, she won't want to get to know you better even if it were true that she would desire you if only she were to truly get to know you.
The article does lend however some credence to the notion that beta-ish long game might work provided you get your foot in the door.
