How many countries have you visited?

I've been to a continuous line of neighbouring countries from Morocco to Japan (via Spain/France/The Netherlands/Germany/Poland/Lithuania/Latvia/Estonia/Russia). Also been to Portugal/Ireland/UK/Hungary/Austria/Slovakia/Czech Republic/Romania/Greece in Europe and Turkey/Nepal/Thailand/Laos/Cambodia/Vietnam in Asia as well as Australia.

Need 3 more countries to get to 30, thinking any combination of Balkans (Serbia/Croatia/Montenegro), United States, Switzerland, South Korea and Scandinavia (Denmark/Norway/Sweden).

Need to hit up South America on a career break.

97 so far, looking forward to celebrate the 100th.
Will be Burma next August, progressing from Tajikistan and Thailand.

From Europe it's relatively easy as you have literally 45 countries at your doorstep, or at least a weekend trip away.
From Armenia to Portugal it ain't really that difficult.
No visa required (except Belarus - which last I heard is dropping it for Euro passports - and Russia).

Took advantage of the dashing growth of Turkish airlines in the last 5 years.
TK allowed for a convenient 1-stop connection to virtually everywhere in the Balkans, Caspian, Middle East and Asia.

Places which used to require convoluted routings at hefty prices, suddenly became accessible and cheap, getting me the Gold status in the process (I remember the nightmare to get to Kazakhstan back in 2007).

Honestly I would have not splushed the cash for a weekend in Kirghizistan, had not been for TK.

I work long hours as a local manager for an insurance company, therefore most of the Euro trips have been short, just for the sake of the 'flag' (but always with an overnight or 2), while for proper holidays I always go long haul, throwing in at minimum 1 country alongside my main destination.

This way is not hard to build some nice combo, while sampling the local beauties on the go.
Got fond memories of Vietnam/Cambodia, Colombia/Cuba, Perù/Bolivia, Zambia/Zimbabwe.

So my tip is be creative. With little of homework it's possible to have fun and see the country list growing, for the geeks out there, of course.

Canada

South America

Brazil
Argentina
Paraguay

Europe

Spain
France
England
Scotland
Wales
Belgium
Netherlands
Germany
Switzerland
Austria
Italy
Denmark
Sweden
Finland

Europe's sort of easy to smash out in one fell go; I did the bulk of them altogether and flew maybe 3 times in that period; out of choice than anything, given how cheap flights are.

I do want to do more of EE soon, maybe the Middle East and the USA.

Only like 8 or 9. Never really had too much of an interest visiting anywhere longer than a 3-4 hour flight via Latin America from the states. Although I probably am missing out on a lot as opposed to if I made a career out of traveling lol.

including 11 years of expatriation. it s actually not that much.
But to visit a country which is quite vast , you have to visit many cities .

PS : airport stops or passing by by train don't count.

So far:
Austria
Belgium
Bulgaria
Czech Republic
France
Germany
Greece
Italy
Liechtenstein
Luxembourg
Netherlands
Peru
Poland
Portugal
Slovakia
Spain
Switzerland
United Kingdom

including the fact that I lived in three of those countries for at least a few months.

My future plans include more of Eastern Europe (Ukraine, Belarus, Batlics), surely Latin America ( and I hope to visit all the countries in there) and well also Asia that's for sure (Thailand is a must). I also wish to see Fiji or some other Pacific islands.
