Or perhaps the knights who say 'ni'. This is an observation from real nightlife. There is this art/music variety show that they have every month around here. I know the term 'variety show' conjures visions of Ed Sullivan but this is hipster-land and the art is often created on the spot on digital tablets and the music and acts are punk rock and avant-garde oriented. It's also FREE! It is well attended by attractive young people of both sexes. They also serve booze!
There are two semi-regular women at this thing that I know, both in their mid-30s. One is a girl I went out with and then had a falling out with and now feel awkward around. The other is actually married. Both are ALWAYS the only attractive woman at a table composed of single guys. As for the married one, I've never seen her husband and she talks about him exactly never.
Last month, I saw the married one at a cramped table with 5 guys. I had commandeered a much larger table earlier, mostly to spite the other woman's party posse (I knew from months past that they liked the table I was at). I asked the group if they wanted to join me. They gladly moved. A few moments later, there was a cool performance art piece on the stage and I took some video with my new smartphone. To verify that the thing had recorded I played as few seconds of the video back. A guy at the table wheeled around and got really aggressive with me. He didn't care at all for my little 3 seconds of video. He calmed down pretty fast when he sensed that I wasn't scared of him and apologized.
I find all of this very interesting. I've NEVER, for instance, seen either woman alone at this venue. I go every month. I don't care if anyone I know is going. These two are only there when surrounded by this bodyguard of single dudes. It's almost like this stuff is coordinated so the goddesses at the center of these things never end up like I have most months - sitting alone at a table with a vodka on ice for company.
