Last night I discovered a new type of establishment here in Brazil.
I met up with this older bird in a part of the city I don't know to well. We walked around for a bit in search of a place where we could sit down and grab a few drinks. After a few minutes she suggested that we go to a bar on the top floor of a nearby building that was dark and ideal for us to chat.
I'd never been to a bar on the top floor of a building here so I was game. The place happened to be right around the corner so we got there a few seconds later. We presented our ID to the doorman as per the norm in Brazil, then we took the elevator up to the 23rd floor.
Exit the elevator, climb up one flight up stairs and we're there. Looking around it appeared to be a normal bar. It had tables and a small dance floor and suited up waiters.
What was different about this place is that it was designed exclusively for couples. The tables didn't have the normal seating arrangements, it only had one row for two people to sit. A chair for two people, a table, then another set of chairs in front, almost like on a bus. It felt like a combination of a movie theatre and a public bus because there was a row of chairs and you could see was what the people in front of you were doing.
The mood at the place is perfect for taking a date, getting some privacy with her and warming her up for the rest of the night. It's different than other bars because you have complete privacy and can escalate things pretty far without anyone taking notice. The lighting is dark, the view is inspiring and the music sets the tone right. It's a seamless transition to take the girl from this place to the motel around the corner.
I'd never seen a place like this before and I thought it was worth sharing to see if there are similar places like this elsewhere, or if this is only a Brazil thing.
On the topic there are some pretty cool motels here as well. Anybody have any cool motel stories?
