Doesn't China have issues with male-female ratios? Boys are favoured over girls so how does this work out?

They are trying to get their men to be productive and motivated. M/F ratio in China is like 1/3 so girls are super spoiled and guys are frustrated and unmotivated. By shaming females they want to stabilize themselves as a country.

It's a commonly accepted fact in China that women who can't get themselves married by 30 are "left over women." They even have a special term to describe such women.

There is no equivalent for men.

The Chinese are incredibly pragmatic about marriage.

While many youngsters, high school or college aged students, dream of falling in love, most who are actually in the process of looking for a spouse are attempting to improve themselves by doing so.

And if they aren't their parents won't approve of any of the choices that don't meet a strict criteria, generally one where the girl and her family leverages the relationship between the supply and demand of marriage aged Chinese women for their own financial benefit.

Few Chinese age 20 or older live under the delusion that marriage is primarily for love.
