I was browsing the forums and noticed there weren't any threads on openers for cold approaches(or maybe there are and I just can't seem to find them). So I figured why not start one.
I'll use a recent one. I was jogging on campus earlier this morning and there was a pretty blonde just laying in the grass with her iPad on her stomach. I stopped a few feet in front of her and sipped some water—it was just an excuse to get closer to see what she was doing though.
Me: You look bored. No recent posts on your timeline?
Her: (laughs) yeah, it's still early. Everyone's sleeping
Me: why aren't you in your dorm?
Her: *shrugs* I'm an early bird I guess. What about you?
Me: (nonchalantly dismissed her question with a slight smirk) what does it look like?
Her: (laughs) no need to be a smart ass
Me: let's go get some coffee, you look tired
Her: okay sure
Sometimes I'll look for things I can use to initiate the conversation(the iPad, in this case). What are some common openers and/or techniques you guys use for cold approaching?
