Brazilian feminists are taking their clothes off again

This time they are protesting a survey where a majority of responders said that women who wear provocative clothing are culpable for being raped.

Earlier this week, a study was released that said a startling 65.1 percent of Brazilians either partially or wholly believe that "if dressed provocatively, women deserve to be attacked and raped." In addition, the study revealed a 58.5 percent complacency with the belief that "if women knew how to behave, there would be less rape."

The study, conducted by Brazil's Institute for Applied Economic Research (IPEA), showed that 66.5 percent of the surveyed pool were in fact, women. The institute interviewed a reflective sample of 3,810 Brazilians via questionnaire across 212 cities between May and June of 2013.

Brazilian women instantly reacted and took to social media and blogs to start a conversation about the study's revelations, keeping the story relevant and trending for more than 24 hours. In protest, Brazilian journalist Nana Queiroz created a Facebook event and hashtag to confront the outrage. The hashtag is appropriately titled #NãoMereçoSerEstuprada, which translates to '#IDon'tDeserveToBeRaped.'

In an organized call to action, on March 28 at 8 p.m. Brazilian local time, women were encouraged to share photos of themselves topless while covering their breasts with a sign that showcased the aforementioned hashtag. The Facebook event also specified that if women were uncomfortable posting topless photos, they should pose fully clothed. The important thing, the journalist explained, was that "they, as women, demonstrate that no one can claim ownership over their bodies either than themselves."

Here are some of the powerful images contributed to the online protest:

WB the chick in 2nd pic. I guess she'd be offended because I'm "objectifying" her or some shit.

Seems like I'm always seeing feminist shit hitting the news out of Brazil. Is it on a steep downhill slope over there or what?

Still would bang the shit out of both of them. I'd take a Brazilian feminist over the average Americunt any day.

1) Stupid survey to begin with & dumb responses
2) It gives feminists even more ammunition to work with unfortunately
3) I hope this feminist BS doesn't expand out of Rio into other cities

Banged a younger girl last week within 15 minutes of meeting her.

Everything she posts on facebook is either a picture of some girl or some feminist drivel. She wants to get 4 tattoos. Pretty boring to talk to.

Another time I banged a girl within an hour of meeting her. She didn't even bother with kissing. When I got to her room she mentioned that she participated in the Slutwalk the week before.

These were the easiest bangs I've had but were very unsatisfying. Normally with Brazilian girls I feel an attraction all throughout my body. With these girls I only felt it in my penis. I feel like my time was not well spent after I'm done with these girls.

This is in 2nd tier capital city. Feminism is spreading but its not nearly as bad as everyone on the forum makes it out to be. There are still hundreds of thousands of girls who grew up in traditional households who abhor the extreme views that the feminists promote.

Guys...

Safado, have you heard here in SP a man ejaculated in a woman inside the subway at the rush hour? He also tried to pull her pants off.
The men inside the subway started to hit him hard.

At the police office he said he couldn't hold any longer. He grabbed her hand too. More than 20 men where arrested due rape acusations (with whitnessess)

This is why I think the campaign got popular. Something that happens everyday got even more serious. This is not "drunk rape" he said, she said. There are some creepy men organizing themselves to attack women on Facebook here in São Paulo at the rush hour, inside the poorest neighborhoods using the trains wagons. Look up for "Encoxada", "encoxar", etc... =[

Some guys are kind enough although the fuzz at rush hour to be as far as they can from you. Others, not really and they are horny (been through it). I hit them hard with my elbow. Some women are in shame to say something and things go backfire (to be bullied by people or even the guy, following them until home)

That said, don't think this a feminazi event. There are some really fucked up things going on at least in my city.

Deixa que essa fase é passageira, amanhã será melhor você vai ver a cidade inteira seu samba saber de cor!

This thread reminded me of a piece I cut out years ago. I tried looking for it online, and got linked to this...

WOMEN IN RIO CHEER GROPE-FREE RAILS

A law was passed by the state legislature and signed by Rio Governor Rosinha Matheus last month that averts groping and other unwanted sexual advances. Female commuters filled women-only, pink-striped subway cars yesterday on the first day of the program. Frequent complaints from women commuters about sexual harassment in crowded railway cars had prompted state legislators to pass the bill.

Here's the original story, word for word, as it appeared in the NY Daily News a few years ago...

Women in Rio cheer grope-free rails

RIO DE JANEIRO - Female commuters filled women-only, pink-striped subway cars yesterday on the first day of a program to avert groping and other unwanted sexual advances.

A law passed by the state legislature and signed by Rio Gov. Rosinha Matheus last month obliges the underground Metro and above-ground railways to have separate passenger cars for women during the weekday rush hours.

One car in every one of Metro Rio's 33 trains is marked with pink stripes on doors or windows. "It's the first day today and we had women applauding when men, who had entered their carriage without knowing the rule, got off," a spokeswoman for the private Metro Rio company said.

As you can see on the link above, there are other cities around the world that have dealt with this, and it reached the level of something that was considered serious.

"The best kind of pride is that which compels a man to do his best when no one is watching."
