Every cell can reproduce a finite number of times, because of telomere cutting with each copy cycle. if you acclerate the process, you cut the tail faster and the cells die earlier. if hgh accelarates cell-reproduction, it is only logical.

Yes, it is quite likely this applies. But it is also quite possible that it does not apply for reasons still unknown to us (it turns out, things are not always "logical" in the end). Perhaps HGH also reduces the amount of telomere cutting at the same time.

Until there is a huge double blind test with a big enough group (which most likely there never will be) we can't really be that confident about it.

But it's better to be safe than sorry, so unless there is a clinical necessity for using GH I would stay away. It probably won't improve your quality of life as much as it will harm it.

What about the quality of life though? Fair enough if you are living longer but if you can't walk and are shitting yourself then what's the point of the extra years.
I'd like to hear MikeCF's views on this.

Why extend your life from 80 to 90 when it involves very low T, no strength and your brain affected by dementia?

What you want is to extend your prime from your late 30's to your late 40's or into your 50's.

If it comes at the expense of dropping at 80 instead of 90, so be it.

Agree in theory, but the problem is we don't really know how it's going to play out. There simply haven't been numbers of men on HGH through their 50s into their 80s. Let's watch to see how Stallone goes.

My grandparents are in their 80s and there's not much golden about the golden years. If I could enhance my life quality from my late 30's or 40's with HGH and then die at 72 instead of 81.... I would highly consider it.

Stallone actually looks pretty darn good for his age.

I took it in my mid teens due to latent puberty. I grew 7 inches in about 4 months. Helluva drug...

For adults though, I think they're cheaper drugs with less side effects imo...

That's my point. He's 67 and there are few or no men older than him who have been on it for a long time, and if they are out there, there is no data on their health.

We need to see studies, and we're unlikely to get them. It's easy (especially for a younger man) to say "yeah I'm OK with dying at an active 75 with HGH instead of a decrepit 85" but what if that means tripling your risk of stroke or cancer all through your 50s and 60s? I'm not against HGH. I'd just like to have more data on its long term effects.

If you don't mind sharing:

How long did you take HGH for?
Have you had any adverse effects (that you know of)?
Were you warned of any possible long term health issues?

TIA.

Yossarian:

I took it for about 6 months. My pediatrician prescribed it to 'jump start' my growth and standing at 6'2 today, I'd say it was rather effective!

There were no sides. The bad stuff only happens IF your growth plates are closed. The only negative was I had to buy 2 new wardrobes that year lol.

Big boys die sooner than little old ladies.

I'd rather live a shorter life as a lion than a long life as a scavenger.

It's a personal choice.

If HGH and Testosterone made you bigger, stronger and healthier with absolutely no tradeoffs, our bodies would increase their production naturally. There is no such thing as a biological free lunch

This article is long and focuses mostly on nootropics, but it's still relevant:

+1 for a amazing article with wide-ranging insights into limits and trade-offs of evolution.

Fascinating to think our brains actually have reduced in size since earlier humans.
