Differences among Scandinavian countries?

Just for the sake of convenience I want to include Finland and Iceland in the group of Scandinavian countries. If you have traveled or lived in at least 2 of these 5 countries then please write any noticeable differences among them in terms of

1. Girls (quality, ease of lay and attitude)
2. Attitude (both men and women) towards foreigners
3. Nightlife

I'll start. I have been to Iceland and Denmark.

Girls: Per capita more hot girls in Copenhagen than in Iceland but the girls are much. much easier in Reykjavik.

Attitude: I started random interesting conversations with people on the streets and was really impressed with the friendliness of the people in Reykjavik. Copenhagen, the complete opposite.

3. Nightlife: Did not get a proper nightlife experience in Cph as I was there on a weekday. Reykjavik. Well its a small city, for that I would say the nightlife was ok.

Sweden and Norway.

Girls - This is a close race, yes we all know about swedish girls but norwegian girls aren't too shabby. Although I had fun in Stockholm, I found the girls in Oslo to be a bit bolder.
Attitude - Swedes win this one, even the dudes are chilled. Guess I would be too if I had to look at those girls everyday.
Nightlife - Sweden wins again. Stockholm is very trendy, which is ok by me.

I am off to Iceland in a few months and curious to see how it is.

I have read before somewhere that girls from iceland are the sluttiest alive, they have that ''hit'' mentality like most guys.

I am scandinavian, and I would say that in terms of ease of hooking up, quality and so on the girls are quite similar (Iceland might be easier, I've never been there, but I imagine that due to their isolated position it's easy for a foreigner to stand out in a positive way).

The only difference I would worry about, is that DK by far have more relaxed politics on nightlife, which makes it a better place if one's sole objective is to hit on girls. If you can afford to pay 17 dollars for a beer, then Norway might be interesting. Swedish clubs and bars always close early, and in fact it is the only place in my life, I've been refused being served in a bar, since the bartender felt I was too drunk.

One of my best friends is from Iceland, he came here to Canada to go to school and we'd go out dogging every weekend with our other friends and he'd be so frustrated by how cold the woman of Vancouver were. I hadnt travelled much at that time so I didnt know any better I assumed it was like that everywhere. He'd tell stories about home I thought yeah sure hot chicks that are all over you like that happens, but I went back with him during a semester break and he wasnt lying. I was only there the week, I was directly hit on multiple times a day, never had experienced that before, itd happen on occassion in Vancouver but nowhere near the frequency and with the agressiveness I found there. Id say I got laid more in Mexico just cause of the atmosphere and type of girls that went but i dont think I ever had it easier than I did in Iceland in terms of actual picking up. It does take some getting used to, but the women for the most part were intelligent, well spoken and very open. They loved that I was a bit of a novelty as a Canadian and Im an east indian male but very light skinned so people in general have trouble placing me so seemingly every girl would like to play the guess what I was game and whatever they seemed happiest with I was cool being lol I didnt think it had the hottest women around but there was enough selection that I didnt have to settle for anything 7 and under. Hes moved here so I havent had an excuse to get back and I havent done any other part of Europe yet but the comparison shall come very soon.

I noticed on the Swedish club sites, the girls are pretty 'glam' ed up (which is hot). Are clubs in Oslo, Cope, Helsinki the same way? I know Scandinavian have a lot of style, but it seems the Swedes really take it to another level. Just wondering if the other Scandinavian big cities are the same.

Easiest in Finland....probably followed in distant second by Norway.

Black guys seem to always rave about Sweden, so it may be a different ball game over there if you have the right look, but I know I wasn't feeling a lot of love myself back in the day.

Clubs in Oslo are a lot less glam'ed up, more of a chill vibe. Seems to be mixed reviews on Copenhagen but it has always been on my list. Danish girls have a slightly different look which I think is frigging sexy.

The things I said about Danes being cold. I think its just their culture. Pulled out this thread about Scandinavian girls. I would completely concur with Quasi's description of Danish attitude. I am not criticizing it, just making a point that "thats how things are done over there."

I want to know if Sweden, Norway and Finland are different in any way.

I'm swedish so take my advise with perspective as I might not be the most objective..

Sweden,Norway and Finland are very similar (sweden and norway more similar to each other than finland )

Danish people are viewed as trashy and obnoxious. They are nothing like other Scandinavian countries and I would not recommend anyone going there.

Girls here are in general very liberal and have no problem taking you home for som dipping. If you look exotic (south europeen) I'd say you have better chanses. Girls like tall darkhaired guys with brown eyes.

Swedish people are very fashion aware and quick to judge you based on what you're wearing and what you look like. So you'd better be wearing something nice

Finland and Island still isnt scandinavia... but part of the NORDIC countries, not to be confused.. [Image: smile.gif] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scandinavia Im moving to Copenhagen this year after that Im willing to show anyone visiting around. Overall, Id say that Swedish and Norweigen girls are friendlyér than danish chicks equal in hotness, but depends on location...and offcourse how you look ..

The big deal here is to get her talking.. you should rather go for someplace chill where you can talk, than loud and fancy... once she gets the feeling you a cool guy with a life.. you can bang her.. one night lays in DK is standard, once she get drunk and horny it will happen.. you will have to listen to the golden "I usually dont do this" which I always reply "AH I have never heard that one before [Image: wink.gif]"

Personally I find Norweigen chicks extremely hot.. but in general the standard of Scandi chicks is far superior to most places in terms of style.. bodywise.. depends.. people like me who like well trained chick with apple buttoms..not so much... have no clue how fat the chicks are in the states, but here chicks arent really fat.

Anyways hopefully from summer or so I will be in Copenhagen, if your cool like Fonzie (and not the bum type whos biggest ambition is to bang poor hookers in a third world country for free), I might even let you crash my place and eat my delicous food.

Good post. Exactly what I was looking for. Now I know that I can expect something better and different in Sweden and Norway.

Sounds tempting but CPH was such a boring city (no offense). After one and a half days I was like WTF? now what do I do? Then I decided to spend a few hours at the botanical garden [Image: sad.gif]

None taken.. its not perfect here.. in terms of game, but in terms of style and living standards... this little kingdom is the fucking shit, would wish better weather.. but I love the cold north [Image: smile.gif]

What time did you visit..? its VERY VERY important to come to Scandi during the long light summer... may-july... especially in may..the light drives us all crazy.. during summer we have light until 22 and beautiful nights.. with crystal blue skyes.. that is really what you wanna come here for... then you should hit the beaches daytime..and then got out to eat and drink and party at night...

Universitys etc are great for meeting hot bright chicks here.. take some courses or summer school if able.. party hard at night, go back with scandi flags and swagger and knowledge.. win/win + win

I was there in June but only for a couple of days and both were weekdays. I went there after spending time in Barcelona, maybe that was the reason I found it to be extremely boring. Spanish girls are hard but Barcelona is one of my favorite cities in the world because of its amazing vibe. I will probably will give CPH another try sometime in the future and hang out with a someone such as you who has the knowledge.

Big fan of swedish girls. Have my flag but not whilst being in the country. Was thinking of going for a long weekend sometime (could go in May). CAn you recommend the best place to go:
Stockholm? Best bars/clubs??....
YOu mention beaches... Should I go straight to GOTLAND. I would be flying dolo so not sure how I would fit into the party crowd there since I know its where all the rich swedes have their holiday homes.

Mystik,

I have never been to Copenhagen, but Barcelona in May is a hard act to follow (I was there last May): beautiful weather, beach, city, "city on beach", fly girls from all over the world, sick nightlife, dope art, insane architecture, mind blowing grinds, etc etc etc

Following one of the worlds best cities during maybe the best month of the year is a almost unfair to another city.

I was in Stockholm in June: extremely hard to get in the clubs.
I managed to get in one club the second night (Bern's) just because I had dinner in the restaurant...
I was very low energy that night because of an illness but did not find the place easy to game...any hint?

I think a guy would inevitably pull ass in Sweden if you stayed there long enough.

Beyond the short-term nut busting, then what?

Cost of living is expensive, dining and entertainment options are nothing to write home about, and many long-term ex-pats find the pressure towards conformity (even when it comes to professional success and income) to be stifiling (see Jante Law).

I do really appreciate what the Nordic countries have to offer: beautiful women, English-friendly, functional societies that work, and relatively clean urban design.

I met some hot Finnish women in Tallinn. Unfortunately they were only there for weekends. Couldn't get a bang in that short of time. One group invited me to Helsinki but my lazy ass didn't get motivated to get on the ferry. They were easy to open and seemed DTF. Not sure if it was b/c they were on holiday or not.

Ex.1- Somehow I ended on the top bunk. A chick had come in late that night and took the bottom bed. In the morning I climbed down the ladder im tight boxer brief donning a major pee stiffie. The chick was peeping out of the covers to check me out. My cock was about 18" from her face. She was fucking mesmerized and didn't take her eyes off it. Ok, so that was a little embarrassing but what a way to open. I saw her later and she was beet red and giggly. Oh yeah, she was a solid 8.

Ex.2- Eight hot Finnish girls were in the adjacent room. I went to take a piss shirtless, and one that fucking looked like Bjork eeked out a "hi". I smiled and waved. When I went to put clothes on and open the set they were gone. I saw them later in the day and they were very approachable and talkative. Unfortunately they left the next morning.

I'm definitely gonna hit Helsinki later this year.

If you are going in May I'd recommend visiting the westcoast for the midsummer celebration. Midsummer is in the late May...google it. It's a crazy holiday with a lot of partying and easy getting laid. Check out "Smögen" on the west coast. But you should only stay there at the midsummer weekend. It's not the "rich" swedes party place. It's normal swedes in the ages of 18-30 going there in groups of friends and renting cheap cottages or camping. Go with the camping because it's way cheaper and easy to mingle.

I know you'd have a hell of a time. The strategy I'd use if I were you would be to socialise like hell and making friends before the midsummer evening. If you manage to make friends before that you probably get invited to the midsummer dinner and you'd have friends to hang with. Later at the evening/night everybody heads out to a local club.

Video from midsummer in smögen last year..(not my video)

All things being equal, Subutai, you are right. Why pay more? It s all relative, however.

For me, the appeal of Sweden (and Scandinavia) are the sexually liberated women (ONS), the beautiful women (world class), the potential exotic factor (overestimated, i m sure), the everyday fashion and style, the urban design, English speaking, and safety (I just want to have a good time, no neo nazi BS).

Also, the only girls that have ever paid for me in my life were Swedish. I don't spend much on women in general, but I ve hardly ever spent anything on Swedish girl. It's nice when a girl takes you out for a change. Remains to be seen if that trend continues.

I am inching my way towards a lengthy stay.

The cost of living in Stockholm compared to Toronto (where I currently live) is not a huge drop off. It's the opportunity cost of passing up cheap places that makes it much, much costlier.

Right. If Swedish girls were flocking to my cock like it was the last Swedish meatball on earth, then I too may give Sverige a second look.

But I guess I always found Swedish women hit or miss (mostly miss) so it's never been at the top of my list. This probably depends on whether your look and personality fit into what turns Swedish women on.

Luckystar - are you a Torontonian as well?

Subuatai you have raised some valid points. After my first Stockholm trip I was convinced I had found Mecca, once I looked into the job prospects then I realized it is a tough place to live. I think Swedes have a time finding jobs, so imagine how tough it would be for me. Norway, I really enjoyed but it seemed a little quieter and alot like my country Canada - which to be honest has more prospects.

Summer is a happening time in Sweden but my best trip was in January, alot of swedes tend to go on holiday in the summer so be careful.

Aliblahba - I enjoyed your post, i dated a finnish girl and she told me about a similar ferry that goes between Sweden and Finland. Lots of drinking and crazy behaviour.
