Ever notice that men are portrayed as...

stupid on tv commercials? Especially white men?

We can't seem to buy dairy queen without getting our tongue stuck in a blender, we can't buy diamonds because we are culturally ignorant sloths who need help, we need penis pills because we need bigger cocks, a better car, our kids are unhappy with the cars we have (toyota sienna commercial), on and on. As a matter of fact on nearly every commercial I see now a white boy is being owned by his wife. Just today a local jewelry commercial had the wife of the owner in a skit where the wife had the husband tied up and duct taped so he (the owner of the store) couldn't speak) and her (the trophy wife) could "offer a sale that steve can't argue with" (since he's tied up, hardee har)!

The emasculation of men continues. The American media continues to pander to the purses of the American woman because THE AMERICAN MAN HAS LOST ALL CONTROL OVER HIS OWN HOUSE HOLD. There is a dairy queen commercial where an 8 year old girl is with her mother. A nearby 8 year old boy "sends over" a blizzard. The 8 year old girl accepts the treat from the DQ worker and nods at the boy. She then turns to her mother and says "it's like shootin' fish in a barrel" and laughs. NOW you tell ME....have the men in this country completey fallen the fuck off or am I the crazy one?

If I'd have a commercial where I "tied my wife up so I could make the deals and she was subdued as not to interfere" My place would be run out of business. If I had a commercial where I claimed women were only good for making sandwiches and pouring slushies, i'd be castrated.

This is the problem in FEMarica....too many American men have become subservient pussies. This feminist man-abuse media is yet another wedge that will drive talented American dudes overseas....mark my words.

Unfortunately this is very true.

I do notice this whenever I go to America especially since I first became aware of this crap online.

I always knew something was wrong I just never could give it a name or shape.

As an American, I love America. It pains me yet to see what my once great homeland has come to and is head toward.

It's because the more you put down a guy, and the more you make him feel stupid, and the more you make him feel unworthy, the more money you can suck out of him.

The thing about most guys is they don't care about too much stuff. For the most part most of us would be happy being surrounded by beautiful women, having great food and drink, and some form of entertainment or sport to fill our time. All this materialistic bullshit is marketed to us to make us feel inferior without these things. It's all bullshit. Marketers know exactly what they're doing. Perceptive guys catch onto this stuff, but the chumps fall for it. Turns out there are plenty of chumps with enough money to keep this stuff going on! [Image: biggrin.gif]

Go to less-capitalistic societies within the western world and I doubt you will see as much male bashing.

This male bashing in commercial us also predominant in Canada. Here in Asia tough it's a different story. One particular commercial about a sport show where the 2 presentators, a man and a woman, has the woman totally clueless about a sports crossword game and the guy being very alpha toying with her. It's refreshing to see that kind of commercials on tv and unfortunately you would not see that in the feminazi run north America. Just an example that this shit is thankfully not spread yet to Asia and south America. Yet...

and so are all the sitcoms: King of Queens, Everybody Loves Raymond, Still Standing, Friends, et al. Nothing new here, it's been going on for years and it's why I don't have cable. I buy the series I want to watch. I think part of the reason I love Mad Men so much is it showcases the reverse.

also look at your typical fashion/model ad, always aloof, superior, unattainable.. don't fall for the programing.

I understand the need to vent but let's all keep in mind how stupid we'd think the girl who wrote about the "oppression of women today" is on a women's lib forum.

The only cure for this is that men need to be men, and those men need to teach their sons and nephews. Bitching about it seems counterproductive IMO.

Is it? Or is defining a problem and giving it a name a productive pursuit? Many men have a problem with it, not all will have the stones to identify it and attack it. Let's be real for a minute- this kind of shit is why American men are fleeing in droves to move overseas. An unfair playing field has men angling to leave.

Regarding commercials women are the target audience because they make up the bulk of consumers. Though the men are the ones portrayed derogatorily, I think these types of adds also make suckers out of women, taking advantage of shopping triggers and encouraging superficiality (very unattractive quality). It's the personal fault of women for falling into the consumerist bullshit shopaholicaust but overall corporations and the people making money are the ones that benefit most. Women in general don't get anything by being portrayed as smarter than men but a bunch of media lies, and it causes conflict between man and wife in the home because of the wife's spending too much money on things a man thinks are unnecessary.

bootylvr,

I hear you, and I like that you have the inclination to stand up for people but, personally my experience has been great because all these male chumps being portrayed on the media make me look like a superman when I all I do is fart out loud.

Again, I think the cure is for men to be MEN.

Although it is annoying that these bitches get programed into thinking they're entitled to something simply because they're women.

That is actually very good. Those of us, who make it clear that this is not a case, stand out. It also strikes the competitive nature of American chicks. I'm still amazed how easy they are caught by challenging them with "you'll never be able to do it" games. No Russian chick would fall for that.

Exactly Fisto. Spot on. The competition to be alpha in this country isn't as hard as years gone by. There still are some quality women here in the U.S., that don't expect their men kiss their ass. I know women who are just as disgusted at the behavior/portrayal of men on the tele.

If you tell a young child he is stupid, incapable of making decisions, and a total buffoon, then those around him INCLUDING the child will start to believe it. Same thing with men.

I can't tell you how many men I hear make fun of themselves by saying shit like this: "MAN if my wife catches me buying this new fishin' pole, i'm dead meat!" or "Man, I'm not scared of getting robbed, i'm scared of my wife!" haw haw haw!

They make fun of themselves as a result of social conditioning as a DIRECT RESULT of shows like "King of queens" and commercials that emasculate men. It is time to get loud about this, guys. It empowers our women and makes our men lose their confidence. The first step in tackling a problem is to identify it.

These ads are not made like this in order to bash males.

They are made like this so that women will feel not only empowered but will feel it is part of their duty to get their men to part with money - by hook or by crook - so they can buy shit that they don't need.

Women fall for it and nag their men. A lot of men are too much of a pussy to deal with the nagging correctly so they relent.

When they relent, the companies that put out the ads get the exact reward that the ad was intended to generate.

I should add that it is a mistake to blame this on feminism.

If you think it is the fault of feminism then you are not seeing the dynamic at play.

Ad agencies are simply very efficient machines tasked BY CORPORATIONS MOSTLY OWNED AND RUN BY MEN with pushing the correct buttons to get the pay outs and rewards that ads are intended to generate.

It's all about $$$$$$$.

If a more effective and efficient ad would be showing a reverse dynamic then thats the ad that would get made.

The only thing I agree with you on is that it is all about money, true. HOWEVER, the enabling factor here is that feminism paid the way for us to accept the emascualtion of men in our television commercials and sitcoms, which in turn has socially conditioned them to become extra-beta and compliant little worker bees. Feminism has everything to do with it because the marketers are using the "woman power" angle to emasculate and hurt men while egging on the woman to spend more. None of this would be possible or accepted unless feminism was allowed to take root in the first place. Do that math.

Also, your assertion that all corporations are controlled by men isn't exactly true. Women are far out pacing men in graduation rates from University, and competing with men for top jobs. Corporations regularly give "Women and minorities" first crack at promotions. I can google thousands of examples for you. So therefore, the corporate workplace is drastically changing and with that comes changes in acceptance and the continued buffoonery commercialization of white men. I have noticed that lately there are a few black men getting beat up in the commercials too, but by and large it is us white boys who are COMPLETELY helpless, impulsive, and fat while our counterparts are apparently worldly, wise, slim, and beautiful. It really is laughable if you look at your average white woman. lol.
