The Power of "You seem..."

The Power of "You seem..."

Recently, I've been testing using the words 'you seem' much more often than I usually would. I use it in mostly pickup/tinder situations, as it's quite easy bait for girls to ask more questions. It goes as such:

"you seem like you're from x"

or if she answers the question,

"that's funny, you seemed like you were from x"

To explain, it's mostly due to the psychology of perception. If you're the one doing the judgement, you're perceived to have the power or the leverage in the situation. It doesn't even have to be with the word seem, but this word tends to be the best way to show this sort of judgement.

The usual responses to this are:

'really? why is that?'

Which brings me to another point. You can't have this in a void. You actually have to have a good reason. It's a great way for me to tease her about something e.g. her accent, her phone, lack of knowledge about a topic... you get the idea.

Try to implement this in some of your pickups. It will work well if done correctly and segued properly. If anyone has any other tips on the area of perception and frame control, please share.

"You seem..." is great.

It creates the sense that you have authority, and it suggests that you're very socially in-tune.

However, I wouldn't overuse the phrase on a girl because it would look like you're too focussed on her.

There tends to be a moment in a conversation where it's acceptable, usually within the first 5 minutes. You should only use it once. If you don't use it within the first 5 minutes, I personally like to sneak this in to a conversation after 15-20 minutes:

'you seem alright'

That is, if you've established a flirty frame and everything's going relatively well.
