Aweber Getting Hammered With the DDoS Attacks

Surprised no one has brought this up on here.

Any of you guys making any decent income with aweber must be going nuts (I imagine there are some established email marketers active on this forum). For a while the optin forms wouldn't even show up and you couldn't access the site for about three days. They had it back together for a day or two but the forms, while showing, aren't working and site access back down.

Fortunately my site is new so I'm not losing anything but still frustrating that people can't subscribe when they want to.

Sounds like they're fighting off the hackers with all they can muster...

I believe GetResponse is getting their ass handed to them too. Volatile times for this digital world.

I can't even begin to fathom how big the overall revenue hits are for big companies using their system.

Latest Update - if anyone cares:

"An Incident Update Has Been Posted

Our engineering team has the site coming back up. New IPs were configured that will need to be distributed across the Internet. Many customers are able to access their accounts again, web forms are being displayed, click tracking links are redirecting properly, and new subscribers are being accepted. If you are not able to access the site currently, it may take up to a few hours for the changes to reach your ISP. Thank you again for your patience as we mitigate this massive DDoS attack.

They've got a thread at the WF following it pretty closely: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-interne...eally.html

Given how much trouble they've been having, I imagine they'll get hit again in the next couple days.

These big attacks on all kinds of companies online have really gotten gnarly.

At least you're getting a preview of what it will be like in the next major war. The first casualty will be the internet.

You cancelled it just based on this?

These attacks are pretty out there - not exactly their fault. You could find another option, but why not find it before cancelling?

Or were you not using the service anyways?

Meetup.com has been getting hit with DDOS attacks the last couple days also. I know they aren't related to that industry at all -- I just wonder if there is some concerted effort to DDOS various sites for some reason..

Yeah, I sort of assumed these are usually done by groups like Anonymous (though not them specifically) that have some axe to grind against capitalistic practices.

For instance, targeting aweber and getresponse could be someone's way of going after internet marketers who constantly fill up inboxes with marketing messages. Some people really do see marketing as a modern evil and internet marketing especially gets a really rap.

Often deservedly so but not always. Even organizations that are not-for-profit need marketing to get their message out there.
