A European once asked me if there are lots of mosquitoes in LA. I told her not really. She then asked why then are there screens on every window. Then it struck me that I'd never seen one in Europe before.

I've actually thought about it before but I think it's not common in Europe because it's ugly as hell and makes you feel like you're staring from a prison cell. I agree that it works very well, but it's so ugly...

Wouldn't "Bang" get sluts USING the window as a method of traverse?

You don't get there till you get there

Money making opportunity? An enterprising RVFer could export this new bug repellant technology to Europian real estate managment companys. No more dealing with that blimey tape. Just line up the edges and snap into place. That could be your infomercial catch phrase when you sell to homeowners.

We have permanent window nets (or "screens") on windows in almost all rural areas in Croatia, whereas in urban it's a hit or miss. Most apartments in my town wouldn't have it and yes, bugs would fly in occasionally. But we're talking moths (during night) or wasps (during day) here, not mosquitoes or flies, and I don't think they carry the same level of annoyance to warrant having screens absolutely everywhere.

I can understand less industrialized & poorer European countries not knowing about this, but seriously, how the fuck does BRITAIN not have this technology standardized yet?

I guess I'm just a spoiled American, but literally every openable window I've seen in my entire life has had screens on it. Even in total white trash/ghetto shitholes.

I'm drunk as a fucking homeless drunk, but I seriously think with all due respect that OP is doing a subtle troll and I love it.

Honestly, it's hysterical.

Likewise drunk as fuck, but, my 15 minutes of internet research indicates this technology is legitimately not remotely commonplace in the UK.

So, this begs the question, what cool shit does the UK have that the US doesn't?

So this is legit?

The UK doesn't have screens?

I swear to God I feel like I'm losing my mind. There's two naked girls running around my pad and I'm on RVF. WTF is wrong?!

I don't recall needing them much when I lived there. Summers weren't that long and I lived in the concrete jungle not too near to the park so the most I remember was one horrible day I kept finding a fly in my kitchen. I would kill it and then see another one. Over and over, I didn't know what was there, there was no fetid meat or anything stinking.

Eventually behind those white panel radiators you have in the UK flats to keep the place warm, there was a wall of flies..like a carpet of them on the other side. Radiator was obviously off since it was summer months.

I bought a can of Raid and went HAM on those ugly motherfcukers. But apart from that, you don't get the problems you get in the states.

With that said, I can see why OP will see screens as the new hype.

Hahaha I've enjoyed this thread.

To be fair, the weather over here is so crap 90% of the time that this product isn't standard.

Why would we waste money on something that can be used 40-50 days of the year, over beer?

This thread is fucked anyway sorry OP haha...

Figured I wouldn't start another thread so I'm gonna hi-jack this for a second:

My 30th Birthday is in August...

So I'm throwing a 3-City Celebration to celebrate:

Los Angeles

Las Vegas

Miami

Details to come but everyone in this mutherfucking board is welcome. You fly in and the rest I'm taking care of, hotel, bottle service etc.

Whatever city you can make PM me cuz it's gonna be off the damn chain.

You get to the city and I got you. I'm even making this an Official Invitation To The King Himself: RooshV. In fact, I'll split his airfare to get him here to one of the cities.

Prep for fucking magic.

The hatchet will be buried August 2014.

Until then the trolling continues.

Metal mesh screens to keep out insects (that can be opened upwards) are fitted onto most windows in south Korea.
Did the americans teach them that ?

[Image: insect_screen_panel_philippines_preview_3-600x600.jpg]

Seems like they don't have them up north...

^

They don't need them in North - the hunger there is such that all the insects have starved to death.
