The progressive press finally admits women make false rape accusations

In an environment where the witch hunt against rapists is so strong that the federal government now forces colleges to not use the "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" standard of evidence that is a cornerstone of the US Constitution, it is refreshing to see some push back from the notion that we should burn anyone accused of rape at the stake, regardless of their actual guilt.

I contend that false rape accusations are 25-50% of all rape accusations myself.

I don't know a whole lot about New Republic, but I've read enough articles there to conclude that they regularly publish articles that are far from progressive.

""Men's Rights" Activists Are Trying to Redefine the Meaning of Rape"

Good article but bullshit title. It's the feminists who redefined rape to mean everything.

It's getting better. Even Jezebel is admitting that a girl made a false rape accusation. I think Oberst, the victim of this particular false accusation, is a player in feminist's clothes: While he calls himself a feminist, it's probably just his gaming approach to get some pussy. He did, after all, sue the girl making the accusation in question.

Well, I don't like how Patrick Henry College posted a hit piece against a Christian college that reads like it was written by a Jezebel writer (when the liberal/feminist press discusses allegations of sexual assault in a liberal college, they do not blame it on the college's world view, the way this hit piece did with the conservative college).

After the story became viral, Patrick Henry College posted a response (PDF file) where they say, in so many words (the exact wording was "The fact is that the information provided by the key individuals at the time differs from the allegations now related in the New Republic article"), that these women making the sexual assualt allegations are full of shit.

I haven't read much from New Republic either, but what I have read makes them look about as objective as Jezebel. There's a lot of stupid people and mob mentality on the Internet, and these rags make their money starting these kinds of flame wars.

That Jezzie article is some masterful hamster rationalization. It's amazing the lengths the writer went to say "we know she's got a documented history of being a liar and attention whore on the internet, but maybe this time she's telling the truth and he really did rape her guys...seriously!" It never actually admitted the accusation was false, it just tiptoed around the possibility while continuing to imply that she actually was raped.

You need to read that article a little more closely. It's actually the opposite: it pays lip service to the feminist party line of "believing" rape accusers while making completely clear that the woman in question is lying through her teeth. It's not hamster rationalization, its subversive groupspeak. Also an infuriating rhetorical tactic, but how else would it be able to hit Jezebel?

OP: Colleges didn't use the beyond a reasonable doubt standard before the Dear Colleague letter, either. The BRD standard and its Constitutional background come into play in criminal proceedings. College disciplinary hearings are private administrative hearings. They used to use a clear and convincing evidence standard.
