Why Aren't Guys Using TRX?

You guys are killing me with these accronyms...I just cannot keep up. I'm still doing squat thrusts and mountain climbers with my head band and chuck taylors.

Yeah I guess in your measurements I'm like 180cm (5'11) and around 93 kilos (205-207lbs) and wide through the back, neck and soulders. Even in the US I have to get my business shirts tailored because my neck is like 19" and they do not design these shirts for athletes, they design them for 50 year old fat guys, which means I have like 2 extra feet of material to tuck in my pants making it all wrinkled up and shit. So I have to pay the extra to get the shirts re cut and sown again so I don't look like a slob.

I think Rocco is straight on.... becoming huge isnt what will land you most chicks.. atletic/ crossfit.. or powerlifter looks are really alot more beautiful in my book, looking forward to shredding and showing this winters results.. will make a thread with diet and sups, training and pics, when Im ready for it... there is alot fo good legal, natural sups, thats is worth your while, its not roids.. but also its not a hazard to your health... CLA, arginine, beta alanine, GABA, green tea extract, fish oil, extra magnesium before sleep etc.. but will make a thread eventually with the research (doses, timing of sups etc.) Ive found on pubmed..Im a biochemist so I have acces and is capable of reading science. Offcourse my own experiences is purely subjective.. [Image: smile.gif]

I dont wanna become much bigger just more symmetric.. since I wont be able to buy my favorite Italian clothes with more size.. but we all got a genetic background, that we will have to work with.. no two people are alike..

Quasi, that information would be golden. There's so much shit out there right now it's impossible to decipher what works, or is potentially hazardous. I'm getting ready to start a new fitness program and will only be taking Syntha 6, Collageena, and liquid vitamins (Natures Plus). Most of the other supplements I don't trust or are ignorant about. Gotta shed my winter layer. [Image: blush.gif]

Dude this is a little bit of a pre judgement and maybe Im just a dinosaur, but Protein (some powder) but mostly from lean chicken, fish , beef..vitamins and maybe Glutamine and Arginine are what I go with. Any of the new NoX shit is mainly just sugar, some of the creatine is good but I get the shits and dehydration sometimes and it makes me stiff and bloated. Most of the trick stuff you see is BS.

Eat right and train hard and if you really want to dump chemicals in your body then just do real steroids.

G. Do circuits with this after getting your form right on the exercises. 3-4 rounds with 8-12 reps. It can also be used as a finisher after your main workout. Benefits are mainly towards core. Get proficient at using one first, learn to adjust the straps. Some exercises to consider:

Atomic Push-ups: it's a push-up followed by a crunch, feet in straps. You could also do a shoulder push-up with a pike.

Chest presses: Relatively harder than pushups and difficulty increases the lower you go with the straps, also increases with a narrower stance.

Rows: Start with feet wider and move them closer to increase difficulty, elevate them for further difficulty, first on a stable then unstable surface

Squats: do pistol squats using the straps for support, can also do split squats with one foot in a strap

Fall outs, Hip Bridges and Body saws are great for core work. I'd also recommend Palloff Presses.

Bicep Curls and Tricep Extensions are useful, though keeping strict form in the beginning is hard and you get better ROI with free weights IMO.

Did my first TRX workout this morning. I love it.

Those Atomic Push ups are The Truth.

What other exercises do you like?

How many days a week do you do it?

Why Aren't Guys Using TRX?

Looks like someone figured out how to turn a ten dollar set of homemade gymnastic rings into a two hundred dollar set of straps.

It's like the perfect pushup version of the gymnastics you can get for free on the internet.

“I have a very simple rule when it comes to management: hire the best people from your competitors, pay them more than they were earning, and give them bonuses and incentives based on their performance. That’s how you build a first-class operation.”
― Donald J. Trump

If you want some PDF's on bodyweight exercise with little to no equipment, send me a PM and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.

For that kind of cost you could buy a proper set of gymnastic rings and all the literature on getting gymnast - swole that's worth reading.

It is a genius invention/biz.

I have been looking at some fitness products to invest in.

They have it at my boxing gym so I didn't buy it.

I prefer to use it for Rows and Body Saw-Pikes. Those feel the most effective IMO.

I throw it in once a week after weight training for some variety. Usually a 3 round circuit for 10 reps.

How many different exercises.

I did 10 or 11 exercises, 12 reps, 1 set each to ease into it.

I was sweating like crazy though. But then again, my boxing gym is 80 degrees.

Pick 4 to 6 exercises to work your entire body in a circuit. Rest 60 to 90 seconds between rounds. Rep range can vary from 10 to 15 reps. you can do 2 to 4 rounds. Focus on good form, it breaks down pretty quick.

For example my circuit is 10 reps x 3 rounds and consists of the following:

Upper body push: Chest Press and Shoulder Push-up
Upper body pull: TRX row with feet elevated
Core: Body Saw - Pike
Lower body: Hip Bridge and Split Squats

If you guys just want functional strength...

Chinups
Pseudo-Planche Pushups (find em on youtube)
Pistol Squats

No 200 dollar ropes needed [Image: wink.gif]

If you want to get fancy, get a kettlebell and do swings and get-ups.

Is it ok with you that I use them since they are free to use at my boxing gym?

Try YTWs alongside Shoulder Push-ups. That hits your entire shoulder region and is good for posture alignment. However, the form is tough to nail down.

Jaymillz- this seems like a spam post.

TRX is another home gym piece of equipment that most guys simply would order and never use. If you want to gain slabs of muscle nothing beats squat/bench/deadlift/pullups and a good diet. There are no shortcuts.

My bodybuilder friend has told me the same

Shoulder Ys, Ts, and Ws are basically rowing variations that help the back part of your shoulders. Those are usually under worked and imbalances cause a forward hunch alongside shoulder instability.

TRX Variation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhvlCqkaSP8

Dumbbell Variation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xCp-YynBEvE

The TRX version is significantly harder than with dumbbells. However, it really makes a difference in posture.

To work your way up to a shoulder push-up, try handstand walks with the TRX: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jel4_x_Kq7E
