This is really good shit. The "go find a bar off the beaten path and just sit down and drink" trick is right up my alley, and looking back on previous travels I've definitely met some cool locals by inadvertently doing something like that.

So true. And it's a huge world out there once you slow down and dig into it like that. Lots of possibilities.
