DO NOT USE ANY ATM AT THE AIRPORT. Get some Reals through exchange.

It's common knowledge among Cariocas that the airport ATM's are rigged to get your pin.

I've heard this about Rio airport, and I wondered about this. It seems to me like airports would be the most difficult place to put a card skimmer, since there are cameras all over the place, and always security and travelers standing around. I wonder if it's an inside job.

Just got my visa back in the mail today. It's official, I'm finally crossing South America off of the list of continents. World Cup 2014!!!

Yah that line to leave 00 is killer. Took us like 30 minutes to leave. If I didn't show up there with a girl who I knew I was going to go home with it would have probably killed the mood.

One thing I do notice about paying when you leave though: It sure streamlines the process of getting drinks. No needless waits while people run their card after one round or fumbling around with cash. And since there is no tipping everyone is served the same.

Be careful if paying by card at 00.

I went one night and found they overcharged me by $40 on my statement when I logged on to my mobile banking the next day. It was an easy dispute to file with my CC company, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who got hit with extra charges.

Nice!

Do you have to leave for your destination within 90 days of receiving your VISA? I think thats what I read when looking up information for a Brasil tourist visa so I'm gonna apply for it in about 2 weeks.
