Well, I was hoping to calm down a bit this week in order to not have anything exciting to write about. Unfortunately, I have a story to tell.

Are you just looking for a room in an apartment or an apartment for yourself? Month to month is gonna be hard to rent your own apartment and much more expensive, but a shared place is easy and cheap and more fun IMO. I wouldn't get a place in advance, just stay in hotels/hostels until u find the perfect place.
I was kind of hoping to find a furnished short term rental apartment like the ones in the Philippines. You could pay by the day, week, or month. I wouldn't mind paying $800 or a so a month if the apartment was worth it. The only ones I seem to find online are like $1200 or higher.

I found a really nice flat in Miraflores on Airbnb. One bedroom furnished nicely they are asking $1340 a month for it. It shows its available to book from May 15 - July 15... So does that mean no one else has any days between then booked? If so I should be able to get it a little cheaper I would imagine. Specially since its gonna be off season (Winter) there around that time. I am giving myself a $2000 a month budget. If I drop $1000 in rent how far will my other $1000 a month take me in Miraflores? I'm thinking food, gym, taxis, going out on weekends will add up... I really don't wanna go over budget cause I the money I am saving by only spending $2000 a month is going towards something.

Peruvians are one of the most barterable people. Aim low, these people renting places at high prices are idiots and would probably take easily half the price. Negociate, negociate, negociate.
There are plenty of exercise bars along the Malecon where you can do calesthenics overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Also, my friend leads a "freeletics" group on the Malecon. Great way to meet people and great exercise. Dont pay for a dumbass gym membership, unless u have the money and really want a gym. there are no shortage of exercise opportunities in Lima.

Sup fellas, been in Peru for a few weeks now...got to spend 2 days in Lima (miraflores/ barranco) upon arrival, then just completed a 12 day ayahuasca retreat in Iquitos...it's nice being back in civilization aka miraflores but I leave for Cuzco and Machu Pichu/ Salkantay 4-day camping trip on Sat...not sure when I come back to Lima but my flight back to the US is May 19th..so may spend the last 4-days here before leaving...At this point, I'm still on the aya-retreat diet which means no pork, booze or "sampling the local culture"...but by the time I return hopefully the chains are off. Anyone gonna be around by then?

Ok guys spent two weeks in Peru; here's a summary:
General info:
Lima (total time spend: 5 days)
-Stayed in the hotel in Barranco which a poster here named Goldmund suggested called 'la quinta Allison', the price there is now 60 soles (23$) for an individual room, 5th night is free, it has all the basics except for internet in your room (depending where in the building) and no fancy stuff but overall good value for money. The owners didnt care about bringing back girls.
-Only went to Miraflores and Barranco, most tourist don't go outside these areas, except for visiting the old city centre. A taxi between the two is 6 soles or about 2,5 $.
-During day there are some nice shopping places, like larcomar and also around park Kennedy, generally a good place to meet girls
-Nightlife is concentrated in Barranco around 'the bulevard' a street with some 'dance' bars and in Miraflores around Calle Pizza.
-ate some anti-cuschos (cow heart) which was surprisingly good and some very nice cheviches as well. Food in general was cheap and very good.
Cusco (one week)
-stayed in a hostel besides club Templo, it was very old and a bit shitty but I had a private room there for 40 soles which is very cheap. The bed made a ridiculous amount of noise though and the water was cold. A decent place for a budget traveller who is not sure to have a girl but wants to have a single room in case of luck. The owner actively encouraged me to find girls hehe. He hooks you up with better prices for the activities around as well.
-did the 4 day Jungle trip to Macchu picchu for a bit over 200$ (with student card you can go under) with the extra 'montana' included (not hayynu picchu but the other one). Overall it was cool, the first day is just travelling and then 2 hour mountainbiking downhill. No reason to go so early imo, but the biking provides for some nice views, no problem to be hungover this day. Second day is doing part of the inca trail. About 9 hours of hiking in total in beautiful landscapes, really cool day but you'll be tired afterwards. You end up in a hot springs place which is great for relaxing. 3th day can be good I assume if you do the rafting (30$) and the ziplines (30$). Someone died in the rafting two weeks ago so it was not open and I was in a non zipline group which made that it was pretty boring, since we just walked the whole path along the river (6 hours). Last day is going up to MP. It's a short but very steep climb, just about 1 hour and a bit of steep inca steps. Your muscles will burn. Doing the extra mountain afterwards and in a rush will make your legs sour for a few days. Bring lots of water and make sure your well rested. MP is great and I think everyone will enjoy seeing that. Maybe a bit hyped but still a cool place.
-Wildwater rafting was ok outside of Cusco, I only paid 90 soles which was a steal with food and transport included. It's only level 3 rapids, but still fun for a day out.
-Plenty of other stuff to do which I didnt have the chance for, couldve spend a month here to be honest and it wouldve been great fun.
-Cool clubs for me where Templo (pounding house music, many tourists), Inca team (mix of music, many locals) and Mythology (cool mix of people, popular dance music, nice place for chilling, dancing or whatever, probably my favourite). I passed by mama africa one night early in the evening and it looked like shit (ugly gringo girls learning salsa dancing), probably gets better late night but i have no idea.
-you can get a massage for 25 soles, a normal one.
Huacachina
-this is a desert oasis where you can do sand surfing/boarding, beautiful place and a cool thing to try out. Lots of tourists though, but also nice parties in the night.
Nightlife/Girls/Game
First a bit about me. Mid-20s, blondish of European descent, pretty good built and decent classic clothing, very good talker, very weak dancer, good in escalating etc.
What can I say, I had 14 days in total of which I was hiking 4 days and spend two in the desert, which gave me 8 nights left, 5 in Lima and 3 in Cusco. I that time I fucked 6 girls so a nice 6/8 score (kissed 3 other girls as well), all one night stands with girls averaging a 6,5 to 8,5 (depending what you like).
1st night (Lima): went to beerhouse in barranco solo, started pre drinking a bit checking out the place, immediatly girls are checking me out. After a while I get a little buzz and start talking to some guys while drinking. Some ugly girl wants to dance with me but I turn her off, noticed by other better looking ones. One girl who was dancing beautifully and is pretty good looking, although skinny, gave me the eye. I approach in the late night, wait till her friends go away and take her back, nice bang! Always good to start out strong on your first night.
2nd night (Lima): meet up with a girl from badoo who looked nice in pictures. She brought a friend (pretty cute one) without warning and brought me to an upclass bar with expensive drinks. I talk to the girls for a good two hours and the atmosphere is good, but the girl i originally met up with is too skinny for my liking and i dont like the fact that im paying drinks (the mayority). I ditch the girl eventually although it seemed she was ready to go all the way, dropping her friend of at the hotel and coming back down for me to go to another place. This was in Miraflores and afterwards I go to Barranco to check some bars solo. I go in and get lots of looks. All ugly girls though. Some of them give me clear IOI and some ask me to dance salsa with them. Not a salsa guy and also not an ugly girl guy, dismissed. Eventually I see absolutely no hot enough girl around that is single and Im tired with a lack of sleep for some days so decide to go back alone.
3th night (Lima): meet up with a girl from badoo who is well in her 30ths, :-). I maintain convo, add some jokes and some kino to the mix. We drink a bit. She wants to go clubbing but the clubs are empty and I dont feel like paying expensive drinks. She keeps pushing me saying she wants to dance. Im not gonna dance awquard salsa in an empty club paying expensive drinks for her. She kisses me to convince me and starts rubbing her ass all over. I agree to one drink, afterwards we go to my hotel. Escalate directly to sex, a bit of last minute resistance but easily overcome. Then the strangest thing happened. After like 2 minutes of sex, she comes and says it has been a long time. I think Ok, great, lets continue. She then says no slow down, followed by i cant do this. She gets up, gets dressed and leaves haha. Thats how being used must feel like.
4th night (Cusco): pretty tired, but still decided to go out on my own. Went to Mythology and started drinking, getting into it and meeting up with some guys i spoke to in the day. It gets very energetic and everyone is having a great time. I find a girl, get her in the couch and start making out. Touch her all over and shes very ready, but friends come over telling they have to leave and she has to join them. She goes. Immediatly go to another girl, I feel like I own this club, and get some good reactions, but she appears too conservative so I ditch her. Eventually went to probably the hottest girl in the place, surrounded by friends, look her in the eye, take her by hand and immediatly try to kiss her. She halfly allows it but says not in front of my friends. I say ok and we dance a bit. After a while friends leave and she has to join, get the nr. for another night.
5th night (Cusco): predrink with some guys, again to mythology. Again girls are ripe for the taking. Pretty early in the evening I scoop an american/Peruvian girl which looked nice. After some strong resistance she goes back to my hotel for the bang. I mentioned the old beds, I mustve woke up the whole hostel. Owner gives me the thumbs up next morning.
6th night (Cusco): none of my newly acquired buddies wants to go out, but i say fuck it, even though the next day at 5 I have to wake up for the MP trip. Once again go to Mythology and Templo. In the first place I start talking to a pretty girl. Going good but shes too hesitant and she's there with just two boring friends. I foresee the cockblock and move one. Find a cute girl who is with 3 guys. Make the approach anyway, she goes for it directly, guys turn out to be gay. I take her back to the hotel and she was very willing, excellent night. She was a mix of Northern African, Peruvian and American. She mentioned that she was very surprised with my direct approach, saying guys never do that with her. She found it very manly.
7th night (Lima): Met up with a girl from Badoo, who was texting me a lot the past days. Meet her in the park, we have some laughs and she seems very sociable. I tell her we should pass by my hotel to drop something, before going for a drink. Never left the hotel off course, nice girl with good body.
8th night (Lima): Some girls from badoo are flaking so Im almost ready to go out solo and see what gives. Eventually a girl texts me and it was one of my favourites. We meet, I take her to some scenic places in Barranco. It feels like a traditional date almost. Eventually we go down to the beach where I go for the kiss. All succesfull, take her back to the hostel even though her parents are calling her and asking if she is coming home. Quick but very nice bang. After she left it was only like 12.30 so i go to another bar on the Bulevard. I walk in and there is like 6 girls, 5 of them pretty hot and 20 guys (estimates). I take a beer and get some eye from one of the hot girls, but I start to think this is probably a pro place, especially since the girl is pretty hot looking and dancing very slutty. I dont go for it and just sit back a bit. Afterwards i ask the bouncer if they are pro's and he says no, just nice girls having a good time. I consider going back but with my low testosteron decided to go eat and sleep.
All in all: Easy and great lays in Peru, I couldve gotten even more if my standards were lower and if i put in more works. Lovely country it is!! I had lots of fun here, both in nightlife but also in the day there is plenty to do. Great nature, many sport opportunities, damn.. I could def live there. Girls are not nearly as hot as in Colombia, I def agree with that, but still most clubs have some 7-8's atleast and my competition was almost zero. The nightlife is pretty standard European/American style, in comparison with Colombia which is much more social circle and much more dancing skills.

Last day is going up to MP. It's a short but very steep climb, just about 1 hour and a bit of steep inca steps. Your muscles will burn. Doing the extra mountain afterwards and in a rush will make your legs sour for a few days. Bring lots of water and make sure your well rested. MP is great and I think everyone will enjoy seeing that. Maybe a bit hyped but still a cool place.
-Wildwater rafting was ok outside of Cusco, I only paid 90 soles which was a steal with food and transport included. It's only level 3 rapids, but still fun for a day out.
-Plenty of other stuff to do which I didnt have the chance for, couldve spend a month here to be honest and it wouldve been great fun.
-Cool clubs for me where Templo (pounding house music, many tourists), Inca team (mix of music, many locals) and Mythology (cool mix of people, popular dance music, nice place for chilling, dancing or whatever, probably my favourite). I passed by mama africa one night early in the evening and it looked like shit (ugly gringo girls learning salsa dancing), probably gets better late night but i have no idea.

Baga, honestly, any hostel in Miraflores is fine.I can vouch for Flying Dog and Dragonfly. Both have bars and hot foreign travelers.
The only way to go hostel wise in Lima is Loki hostel. It is a party hostel through, so be warned, if you want something chill, it's not the place. Food is delicious too, and cheap.
