With knowledge and application of game it's impossible to be thirsty. You recognize dry spells are a part of it sometimes and they are chances for you to grow or try out certain areas of game you haven't tried before. Perhaps you need to try new venues, day game more, experiment online, etc.

The average guy without game awareness does not have this sense. He's always clawing at chances to get with girls, because to him he has to make the most of the chances because they don't come around often. Whenever he gets a chance, more than likely he will fuck it up because he's jumping at the opportunity as if it's his last.

Once you have some experience with game, you recognize that getting laid is up to you, and not up to the girls (the average guy mindset). It's impossible to be thirsty because more than likely you haven't been approaching or working hard enough, and perhaps girls just aren't your focus at that time, and you know if you cared enough you could easily solve that small problem.

The main reason why for some people it's so easy and for other's is so hard to get laid today is the imbalance of access to pussy for men. To put it in simple terms:

1. A few generations ago 40% of the men got 60% of the pussy.
2. A decade ago 20% of the men got 80% of the pussy.
3. Today 10% of the men get 90% of the pussy.
   

Ok the numbers are a bit oversimplified and exaggerated, but you get my point.

Then the next question is what causes this imbalance?

The short answer: The society's widespread acceptance of casual dating for a whole decade before you get married.

Think how it was a couple generations ago when casual dating didn't exist. People didn't seek a partner to have a good time with, but one to spend the rest of their life with.

And it wasn't like there wasn't an imbalance in desires even then. Even then all the men wanted the top 10% prettiest women, and all the women wanted the top 10% of men. But they had to be real, because once the top men and women were paired off, the remaining had to choose only from the remaining, so you had a situation where top men ended up with top women, average men with average women, and ugly women with poor men. Again this is a bit of an oversimplifed model only to make my point.

Fast forward today, today once a girl dumps her boyfriend she wants a better one. But the better one doesn't want to attach himself to her because he's got plenty of choice, he's not crazy to attach himself to a girl below him. Heck he doesn't want to attach even to a girl of his own level, why would he when soon he'll be bored of her and he can have a lot of variety of pussy instead of one. And given that young women are under no pressure to get married, she'd rather enjoy being on rotation on the better guy's dick than enter into a stable relationship with someone of approximately her own level.

And that's how for the top men today there's plenty more pussy than there was in the past, and only crumbles remain for the rest.

Add to this one more fenomena that worsens the situation: A girl that had multiple boyfriends/fuckfriends in the past can't stand an average guy, his lack of uber-confidence is so repulsive to her that she can't stand it. But his lack of confidence exists precisely because she doesn't give him a chance to become more experienced, so it's a vicious circle. Think about it, while a young inexperienced girl can easily fall in love even with an average guy, a seasoned carousel rider is bored with all but the most interesting and exotic of men.

Btw I didn't define what a "top man" is. We all know what a "top woman" is, her score is based mostly on her looks. A "top man" today is quite different from what a "top man" was a few generations ago, then the most desired men where those who earned a good living, were of a stable character, were respected in their community, etc. Today the most desired men are pretty boys, football players, band members, bad boys, and even fat bikers and criminals are more exotic than the average man trying to make an honest living and be a good provider to his family.

Anecdotally, it appears to be getting harder for the majority of men to get laid.

Sorry I didn't conduct a rigorous academic study to give you exact numbers.
