Randomly met Tyler Durden from RSD last night

Thought this was kind of a random occurrence and interesting anecdote. I went out to dinner at a decent local restaurant last night with my girlfriend, and sitting at the table next to us was a familiar looking red haired guy messing around on a Mac book laptop.

At first I thought "I know that guy from some where", then I did a double take and thought "holy shit, is that Tyler Durden from RSD". I then looked at him hard and he kind of noticed I was looking at him, and I said "Owen?" with a questioning tone. He said, "yeah what's up" and I was like "damn that's random as hell man, I'm a fan of your work."

Basically I shot the shit with him briefly and didn't want to give too much away because my girl was there and I didn't want to get into a whole explanation of who Tyler is, what he does, and how I know about him.

Nonetheless, I thought it was a random as hell experience, and I thought I would share it with the forum. Apparently he was just passing through and spending the night in my town, on his way to teach a workshop in SF. He showed me a little clip of his latest video he shot in the redwoods which will be the next video he posts on youtube.

Overall I got to say that I got a really good vibe from the guy, although it wasn't like I had an in depth conversation with him or anything. He came across as really chill, very friendly, humble, and down to earth, I sensed zero attitude or ego from him.

I also got to say for anyone who watched his blueprint videos it's pretty amazing to see his physical transformation, he looks like he's in good shape, although he's a little guy and not jacked, and also looks like he's on top of his health game as well as style and grooming.

He was with a chick and I overheard him talking with another guy who joined him at his table, and I believe he introduced her as his girlfriend. She was attractive although not playboy playmate hot, she's the kind of girl I would pursue, brunette white chick in her mid-twenties, I'd say if you're a tough critic you may rate her a 7.5, but I'd say an 8.

When my chick got up to use the bathroom I asked Tyler if you knew about Roosh and mentioned I was an active poster of the forum. Interestingly he didn't seem to know much about Roosh, and asked "isn't his whole deal about leaving the U.S. or trying to encourage guys to leave the U.S.?"

I replied that, "yes Roosh is all about Eastern Europe, and is an outspoken critic of American women." He asked if it's because Roosh thinks they have an "entitled attitude" and I said yes, as well as them being too fat, too masculine, and not feminine enough, which Tyler kind of chuckled at and agreed with.

All in all I got to say I had a short, but positive interaction with the guy. I know he gets a lot of hate here on the forum, but I think he's doing good work and seems to genuinely want to help guys improve their lives. Either way, as far as I'm concerned he's one of the legends of the game community, and I think it's cool that I randomly got to meet him.

Nice write up. My first step to this forum was reading The Game, and Tyler is definitely one of the originals. Incidentally, I was living in Hollywood at the time that all took place, so it was a fun read. I followed a similar thought process to Neil Strauss afterwards as he wrote Emergency, including sovereign society material, to the concept of the five flags. So to be a member of this forum and come full circle to reading about your encounter with Tyler was great. Thanks for sharing.

Good story, I love moments like that.

Kind of stinks you couldn't get into something deeper. I understand not wanting to blow your cover with a girl, but still. I would love to pick the brains of some of the well known bloggers.

Does he really? RSD was the gateway material that introduced me to game and subsequently to Roosh, I don't see how what Tyler teaches goes against Roosh's work either.

I met him once as well at the Summit Series for entrepreneurship, and found him to be a low key nice guy as well. No sense of him trying to get the upper hand in any way; he seemed more comfortable blending into the surroundings and having casual conversations with people and being helpful. Brent Smith on the other hand is also a nice guy and very welcoming, but more about being the mayor and showing people a good time.

That talk in particular is AMAZING. I HIGHLY recommend it.

I suspect a lot of the people who relate to my writing and the manosphere in general have a strong painbody around beta male shaming.

This is my favorite video. The other three Truth About Success videos are excellent as well.

Cutting his hair was probably one of the best decisions he ever made. That Dog The Bounty Hunter look he used to rock was terrible.

Nice, I missed his free tour last month because I ended up going to a concert instead. Good to hear that he's a cool dude in real life.

The "society's permission" point he makes is so fucking true.
