It depends on the person. I've been traveling now for over a year in over 25 countries and I'm not bored at all. I find it liberating actually - I travel on the cheap and only spent 20k USD my first year. That would not even pay for my apartment back home in the US. I just have a few clothes in my backpack and that's it. I eat at local places and stay in hostels and guesthouses and I usually meet a ton of people so I'm never really alone. I never get homesick because I know I'm living the life that most people dream of but are too pussy to actually try.
It's not for everyone but for me it works. Before this I was trying to be "normal" with a high paying job, a nice apartment, car, lots of toys, expensive restaurants, and even more expensive dates. All that stuff is okay, but now I realize that it's just superficial crap. A person can be happy living out of a bag moving from place to place every few days. If fact, once you get rid of all the superficial stuff in your life you realize what's really important. To me that is liberating, to others it sucks. To each his own. As I learned a long time ago most people in the world are settlers, but a small minority are explorers. If you are an explorer then you will be miserable living the life of a settler.
