Budapest

We were going to do a stop over in Pristina, Kosovo for a few days and concentrate on Skopje, Bitola and Lake Orhid so we cna hit some secondary cities. We are only there for 10 days in the regio so dont want to spread ourselves too thin and want to allow time to get to know the place and make solid contacts. Originally we wanted to hop around a bit but we locked down a sweet 2 bedroom apartment in central Skopje for 30 Euros per night so we're all set and going to make that place the central station for heading around the country and maybe couchsurfing a few nights here and there or making some local contacts. I'm thinking that two fly brothas in the Balkans is going to be MAJOR!!!

There are some good clubs in the city centre. I really don't like Budapest, but I did score a cute girl overthere. Most girls I tryed to approach didn't speak good enough english or german to hang around with. Lots of hookers around if you like.

Any new info/Data Sheets on Budapest/Hungary in general? Where to go? What to do in the winter? How brutal is the weather (I am from Oregon... we get rain but very little snow/really cold weather...) I am moving there shortly with my telecom/energy brokering company.

I love Budapest. Beautiful City and some great girls - my fav being Sandra Shine.. [Image: wink.gif]

I've been twice, I drove from Prague, via Bratislava & Lake Balaton (loved it!)

I love the bar scene / restaurant scene in the summer time more than the clubs...it's also a great hub in Europe to explore other locations.

Recommended....!

So agree!!!!! Where's my passport? Budapest is a different league to Prague. They invented sexy, (slightly) slutty women...[Image: banana.gif]

Interesting and thank you, when did you go? I speak absolutely 0 Hungarian a little bit of German. How much will this hurt me? Perceptions of foreigners...? (I am about as Germanic looking as an American can get... Blond, 6 foot 2 and a body of a fullback (played American FB in college)) Does that matter? I am moving in January and I am looking forward to it if nothing else the ease of travel from the location and the opportunity with my company.

By the way Layercake, that is a good movie and a great quote.

Glad you like the quote! Great movie....not sure about the end however, although Sienna Miller looked amazing!

As for Hungarian? Nobody speaks Hungarian except Hungarians! Apparently I read somewhere Hungarian is one of, if not the hardest language in the World to learn. Hungarians know this, so they all speak English, German perfectly well. The one's who don't, you probably won't want to talk to anyway...English is the only language you need.

Your look and build means less in Eastern European countries than it does in the West, just dress well, smell nice, be a bit cheeky, make them laugh and that's it. Dress well is a pre-req.

Hit me up when you fly in from Yankee Doodle Land I most likely will fly in around Jan / Feb 2012 as Budapest I love and it's been 2 years since I visited... [Image: banana.gif]

Budapest

My 2 cents on this city:

I have been to Budapest this summer. The city is beautiful, the women - on average - are not. Obesity is a problem. The hottest girl I've seen in B was an American tourist (and I didn't hang out specifically with tourists...)

1/3 of the young generation is fluent in English, 1/3 has some very limited and basic understanding, 1/3 doesn't speak or understand any English. (The numbers for German language is pretty much the same.)

Quality of food ranges from mediocre to very good if you decide to eat in the more expensive restaurants.

If you are an average looking guy in America/Western Europe, you can expect to be one of the best looking guys in most Budapest clubs.
