Politicians. If we paid each Congressperson/ Senator over a million dollars a year, we'd have professionals running the country, not a bunch of idiots who do whatever the lobbyists want them to. They'd be too focused on doing a good job to get reelected, not just depending on charisma and personal connections. Imagine a country being run by business executives - not the best idea but better than having a bunch of lawyers and well-connected bumbling idiots run it.
What do you think are underpaid professions?
Scientists in general are underpaid. All the programs to get kids into science artificially increase the number of people graduating with science degrees and thus lead to a greater supply and lower salary for scientists than we would have in a free market.

Obviously I was kidding. I'm sure there would be Indians who would be willing to come here and work for less, driving down the cost of public transport for everyone and making it cheaper for people to get to work. However, current employees might not like it.
Sorry! Just woke up! :-)
Pretty much any profession that has a steady supply of people willing to do it.
That's why I work with computers. People don't like working with them.

Low level accountants (at least here in Italy where I live)
It's a very soul crushing job, requires a lot of attention and is kinda low paid.

I wouldn't say teachers are underpaid whatsoever. Educators make up 12% of millionaires.

Exactly. Let's put this idea in the graveyard where it belongs.
Established teachers pull mid-high five figures with great benefits and pension for NINE months of work.
Underpaid my ass. That's what the teachers' unions would like you to believe.
"I'm not worried about fucking terrorism, man. I was married for two fucking years. What are they going to do, scare me?"
I would second Adjunct Instructors... You get a PhD and get paid $2k per course for 4 months.
Yeah - I feel sorry for post docs. They seem to get shitty money - and live year to year applying for more and more grants.
