So this afternoon, I was walking home from the Grocery Store. As I'm walking down the street, an SUV driven by a 40-45 y/o White Woman pulls up, asking if I need a ride.
(NOTE: 1-2 Minutes before I crossed the street, I had heard her saying "Hi...Hi" but since she was not yelling it, and since i did not have my glasses on and couldn't see if she was talking to me, I ignored her and kept walking.)
I pause for a second, and then respond "Umm Yeah." and she open the door and I get in.
It's about 50-55 degrees outside, and I'm wearing a T-Shirt/Gym Shorts, so she was "concerned". (My walk home only takes 15-20 Mins, and I'm the type of dude who doesn't wear Jackets/Gloves/Beanie unless it's low 30 degrees.)
I tell her the street name, but she is not familiar, so I give 2 roads its nearby and she's familiar with them. She asks how long I've been living there, I lie and say "Month and a Half". (I've actually lived here a Year and half, but I understand women like Novelty and if they;re married/involved someone whos not in any of their social circles.).
I ask her the same question, and she responds "Oh...15 years" with a nervous laugh. (I'm guessing she was embarrased about her age.)
I ask if she was coming from work, and she says her husband was in the house making Chicken Noodle Soup (Beta lol) and so she went to Meijer (same store I went to) to get some extra stuff for dinner.
I was carrying 2 Quarts of Olive Oil (which I use as skin Moisturizer) but I thought she may think that was weird, so instead I told her I was cooking a big dinner for family later that night, to which she smiled.
I ask her what she does for work, she says she's a Home Instructor for the local School District. I ask her if she's soon to retire, as I noticed her SUV looked like a recent model, and she appeared to be financially successful, but she said "I wish...but I need the money".
After that, she asks me what I do for work, and just as I learned on Return of Kings, I told her I'm "In Between Jobs", to prevent myself from being put in Provider mode.
I asked her where she went to College, but it did not dawn on me to ask what she studied.
Anyways she passed the street she was supposed to turn on (not sure if intentional) and since I didnt have my glasses on i didnt even notice.
As she gets on the correct road, she points to a Church and mentions thats the one she goes "If I ever want to go there".
She had asked me earlier if I lived in "Wildwood" and area I had never heard of, but she points to a bunch of houses and mentions she lives over there.
So anyways, my Mind is going crazy trying to think of what to do. This is one of the most random situations/opportunities I've had in quite a while. I'm "Wolfing it",my faci alhair is 2 weeks and quite grizzly. Besides the T-Shirt/B Ball shorts, I'm also wearing some hightop Jordan VIIs, looking ghetto as hell. For all she knew, I could've been a murderer/thug. Even though she mentioned her husband a few times, I could not figure out if she merely gave me a ride because she wanted to get some "Young Love".
On one hand, this is a Surburban Area but at the same time you could say Suburban people are isolated/not as friendly. Also since this was a Sunday, maybe she was in a good mood and felt like doing a good deed? I was truly puzzled.
Anyway, as we get closer to my house, she's like "Wow...this is a very long walk for you". I mention how the Bus Stop is 3 miles away, so in comparison this is not that far.
So anyways, as we pull up on my street, I can sense the aura/vibe getting awkward. Up until then, the most silence in the convo was like 5 seconds, however it was like a 15 second silence.
She says "So have you made friends out here?" I respond, I'm focuse don finding work soley. Another 15 second silence, and she's like "Well I hope you are able to find a job".
As a last minute "Hail Mary" I say "Your name is _____ right? Well could I get your number, I'd love to repay you someday". She's like "Oh...don't worry about it, it's no problem". And I reluctantly get out.
And soon as I get out of the car, she leaves, which on one hand I was relieved (I had her stop like 3 houses before mine...didnt want her to know where I lived), but i wasnt sure if this means she wasnt interested.
What do y'all make of this? Should I have gone direct?
