013 Holiday Shopping Thread
Considering many RVF users do major shopping on the holidays, I thought about creating this thread were we can share good deals that resonate with our demographic. Some like to buy clothes, other electronics, and such. There's no need to go out there and get shot at Best Buy over 10 TVs when we can get them at a discount on Amazon or eBay.

On Amazon many electronics are up 20% at the moment, in addition to other things.

This raises the question: is it better to buy stuff now or when "black friday" and "cyber monday" arrive?

I buy nothing except for relatives under 18. I just tell my loved ones I love and value them and we spend time together. I may change that since some people close to me want some durable goods they can't afford.

I was going to buy a usps hat for my friend who may or may not have pushed weightbut he wewent to jail for probation violations.

Still trying to come up with something for my little brother.

I got my older brother a machete (walmart) and a handle of Jack Daniels last year.. I'm not sure how I'll top that.

I'm the Grinch when it comes to Christmas.

I don't buy anyone gifts and I try to save as much as possible in December.

When January hits and people are freaking over their credit card bills and rent, I just laugh and count stacks.

Get a stocking and hang it on your wall this Christmas. Stuff any cash you'd spend on other people all month and see how much you have Dec 25th.

Stuff Your Stocking With Stacks.

I try to do all of my christmas shopping later at night on a weekday at a place like The Grove in LA (upscale outdoor mall with plenty of tail and flirty sales girls). I find weekday nights (when the mall is open until like 10 or 11) the best time to go, there's no way in hell I'm going to the mall on the weekends, its just pandemonium.

Just usually go into Nordstrom and buy everyone random T-shirts or something like that, its actually pretty quick. I mean a bunch of $25 t-shirts isn't going to clean me out or anything. The only gifts I really spend time and money on are for my parents and my brother.

The blessing around this time about being a single guy is that you can cheap out on gifts (or like McQueen said above, not buy anyone anything) and chalk it up to "being a single guy that's too busy to know any better". I really only buy gifts for immediate relatives though and even then I split most of them in half with my brother, the rest I just chalk it up to "being a single guy that's too busy to know any better". The excuse also works with dissing Christmas parties that are just going to be your coupled up friends talking about the pros and cons of day care services.
