I think that you stated much better what I was attempting to say, or at least that is what kind of what i was thinking.

Most of the time, there's going to be a back and forth situation, and you gotta get some ideas about the girl and her level of interest from the get go. If you measure her wrong, then, yeah, you are likely to come across as a pervert if you are moving too quickly and also not backing off somewhat when she is expressing reservations or even non interest.

So, if she is biting, then nothing wrong with escalating and even escalating quickly before she changes her thinking... if you are pussyfooting around while she is actually interested, then the pussyfooting can cause her to lose interest, too.

I think the hardest part for most guys is trying to read the chick's body language to determine if she's open to some kino. Usually the eyes and her body position relative to yours will give her away but reading body language is a skill that takes a lot of time and practice to figure out. I agree Doc that none of this discussion is really age specific, except that when a guy is 10 or 20 or more years older than the chick, then there may be some perception and connection issues... but if she is receptive, she is receptive and it does not matter if she is 20 or 35, you are going to be able to get some senses of that, if you are paying attention.

Some people are more touchy feelie than others, whether guys or girls, and some touchy feelie may come across as sexual depending on how it is done, and for example, the guy can put out a feeler (no pun intended) by placing his hand on her shoulder or on her arm or on her knee, and of course depending on how that is done, there can be sexual connotation or no sexual connotation or just an ability to back off if the girl seems to be reacting in a negative way.

Regarding escalating quickly, a decent rule of thumb is to escalate as fast as the girl is willing to let you, even if she puts up a few obstacles, you should tend to continue to escalate so long as those obstacles are not so clear as to really be obstacles.

In essence, it is the chicks job to either slow down the escalation or to figure out effective ways to say no, and chicks know this from a very early age - although if she is 20 or even 25, she may not be as experienced in how to say know or how to ward off unwanted advances, so sometimes for guys it can be nice to take advantage of some of the girl's naivette.

On the other hand, sometimes the girl may become too eager about the guy, and the guy may sense that she is too easy, and he may get turned off by her failure to resist or her inadequate resistance. Girls, even fairly young ones, frequently are tuned into this kind of stuff too, in that she kind of knows that she needs to place some obstacles for the guy or to resist in order to be perceived by the guy as a desired target. The older we are, the more we have likely played these kinds of games, which is just part of the escalation deal and sometimes (maybe even frequent) rejection process.

JJ, I totally agree for 19 yr olds what their peers think is somewhat important. I've discovered a few things about this as a 40+:

a) They got the idea from a friend[s] in the first place. Someone had a great experience and told her to forget stupid fratty 'fuckboys' and date/fuck a real man.
