Texas Scientists Given Green Light To Use Sex Offenders For Medical Research

Came across this article and am wondering what some of you guys think. On the one hand I think that these goofs should suffer for the disgusting crimes that they've committed but on the other hand it reminds me of some of the weird shit that Nazi scientists did to Jews in WWII. I'm not in favour of it as I see it as a slippery slope by giving the government the ability to conduct this type of research, who's next? Honestly I couldn't care less if they took these dirt bags out back and blew their heads off with rifles but something about doing experiments on them doesn't sit right with me. From the article:

Quote:Quote:

Hundreds of violent and predatory sex offenders are being transferred from multiple correctional facilities all over Texas to a specialized medical research facility where they will spend the rest of their lives being used as subjects in medical experimentation and testing.
In a bold move Texas congress passed a bill in early October to give researchers permission to use the most violent, predatory, repeat sex offenders as the first human subjects who will be used in more cutting edge clinical inquiries.
The facility which is located in Sutton County is being praised worldwide as bringing medical research to the next crucial level. Several researchers are clamoring to bring their talent to the practice. Having the opportunity to work with human subjects will give scientists the opportunity to develop sophisticated new treatments and surgical procedures that will eventually be saving lives.
During a recent press conference designed to inform the public about the facility and it’s goals, a handful of people expressed distaste for the program claiming it was inhumane and unethical to use humans in research against their will regardless of their crimes. Senior biologist Andre Bordeaux who will be the primary director of the program had this to say:

“With This New Program These Offenders Will At Least Be Able to Provide Something Of Value To Society…”
“These are people who have committed horrific crimes and have shown no chance of ever being receptive to any kind of rehabilitation or treatment. It costs taxpayers millions of dollars a year to persecute, convict and house these criminals year after year. They are people who contribute absolutely nothing to society other than the pain and anguish that their victims must endure for the rest of their lives. Really, there is no justice in that process. With this new program, these offenders will at least be able to provide something of value to society. We realize that many see this as a cruel and unusual solution, but the majority of the public has agreed that these people basically revoked their rights to be treated with respect and dignity the moment they chose to commit their crimes.”
Others were overjoyed, many of them former victims of sexual abuse perpetrated by the men who were being used in the program. “This really gives me a complete sense of closure” commented Karen Kennedy at the press conference. She had been the victim of a repeat violent offender back in 1992 who was now being transferred to the institute. “I am happy that he will never be able to hurt any more children. It’s good too that they are putting him to good use. Any suffering he may experience in the process of course is an bonus” she added with a sadistic smile.

Here's another informative article from this reputable news source:

CDC Report Reveals Existence of ‘Zombies’

During the government shutdown, an unnamed source from the Department of Health and Human Services leaked a highly confidential report detailing an incident wherein the bodies of the recently deceased appeared to reanimate and began to attack citizens of a small town on the outskirts of Philadelphia.

Messages left at the CDC offices in Georgia were not immediately returned.

In October of 2004, reports of people described as listless, pale, and partially decomposed emerged from Newtown Square, Pennsylvania. The incursion appears to have taken place during a marching band competition at Thomas Massey High School. Though the document, termed the Undeath Syndrome Surveillance and Diagnosis report (which is available in full offsite), details an incursion that swept the Delaware County area, no local or national news stations can corroborate the account.

However, details emerging from the report go so far as to describe the medical condition of the ‘undead’ while providing a primer for the expected reanimation time of those attacked and bitten by those referred to as ‘specimens’. The report also features a section called the ‘Specimen Brain Trauma Impact Index’, which details the most effective method of eliminating those afflicted by Undeath Syndrome.

I'm just commenting on Scotian's use of the word "goof" I grew up using the word 'goof' as a term for a silly person, like Goofy from Disney.

I can't remember where I was where I said goof and someone had to pull me aside and explain what it meant where they are from. Where exactly does Goof mean sex offender?

Same thing happened to me a few months ago, I used the term "goofball" and my co-worker pulled me aside and said to never use the word goof towards him. He's an ex-con, and if I remember correctly, from what he said, the term "goof" is used inside canadian prisons to identify rats/snitches or sex offenders/pedos. I cant quite remember. Either way, it's pretty heavy if used against an ex-con (which there are plenty of in Alberta)

In response the article Scotian's posted..

I think it's a great idea to use convicted/repeat offenders for testing. However, it's all fun and games until they get super powers. Then we're fucked. Either that, or use them for slave labour...

Please excuse the phony story fellas, seemed legit [Image: huh.gif]

As for the term "goof" its a word for sex offenders and is pretty much the worst word in the Canadian lexicon, I can't think of another word that would guarantee a punch in the face, or worse, as calling someone a goof.

What the heck are you talking about. We say goof all the time. It means someone who goofs off. You know, like jokes around or a class clown.

Its got to be regional. NOW I remember who freaked out about 'goof' when I said it. It was a girl from New Brunswick that was working in Ontario.

Southern and Nothern Ontario previously I had never encountered an issue with 'goof' its just a word.

Doesn't La Crosse mean blow job or some such in Quebec?

I know the Buick by that name in the States is called Allure in Canada.

Have you ever heard the expression "you learn something new everyday"? , here's the definition from the urban dictionary:

The Canadian equivalent of the american term, punk. A word used in the Canadian prison system to describe informers, molestors, child killers and all inmates segregated from the general population in protective custody. In a looser sense, anyone who has become hated by the prison population in general for suspect behaviour, or irritating behaviour may be thought of as a goof.

To be called a goof, espescially if not true must be met by instant violence or you will lose all respect formerly given to you. If this isn't done, or you are incapable of defending yourself you may as well "check in." (ask to be moved to P.C., protective custody)

I never heard of that happening but its true, they had to rename the car in Quebec because in Quebecois slang "La Crosse" means jerking off, haha: http://autos.ca.msn.com/news/canadian-pr...d=22011666

The depressing thing is, this story is satire and yet medical testing has been done on children in care since forever...
