Recommendations for where to acquire "fine"-looking replicas? Links?

All due respect to quality manufacturers, I'm an impoverished grad student.

Here are the directions I gave in a PM to someone:

TaobaoNow doesn't sell anything, they're only an agent. The sellers are found on TaoBao. Use Google to translate TaoBao. Search by typing in the brand name, and nothing else, and go through the results. Use the sellers with the highest ratings - I think the diamond icons are the best, but I'm not sure. Look at the watch pictures very closely. Here's the listing for the watch I bought: http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=3604084829 . If there's a watermark on the photo, make sure it tracks back to the same seller. You can have TBN take photos of the item once they've received them, and have them ask for a refund if you're unsatisfied. (You'll still have paid TBN 10% or 50RMB either way.)

RWG also has a list of trusted dealers, but there are fewer options there, and anything there is probably on TaoBao anyway, and for less.

Personally, I rock "bling" at various times, with different outfits as part of my style. However, none of my jewelry is fake or knock-off, I just have a few nice items (diamond stud earring, Italian gold chain, Omega watch), which are simple and classy, but not overly gawdy.
...

I searched for breitlings on that site and all the watches are over 10k yuan which would be almost 2k us if i'm not mistaken. how do i find the fake watches? does anyone else have a good site for fakes, pm plz

Careful with buying fake watches overseas from China. Most sites you buy fake watches from are outside the US, and US Customs and Border Protection will seize your shipment, and possibly fine you (if not more). I believe it is illegal to buy counterfeits on the internet and import them into the US, even if they are for personal use. Can anyone verify this?

It is illegal, and customs will seize it, if they get ahold of it. But they probably won't. The only difference is a shipping time of 3-4 weeks.

As for the original question, I think money > taste. Eg, Ferragamos would beat $1000 handmade English shoes in getting it wet, even though the Ferragamos are no match in taste or quality. It seems the same with watches - Panerai vs. Patek.

Europe is even worse trying to import fakes then the US. Other then the watch on your wrist when you walk in, they demand offical sales receipts from deals for anything that is even similar to a branded name.

Also, there is an easy way to import watches into the US and other fakes. Mark them as 2nd hand items and have them sent person to person. The only issue is that you cannot have the original packaging, and it helps to mark the parcel ebay or something like that. Ive done it lots of times for friends.

Watches aren't a make-or-break piece with girls (like shoes or a suit), but I have one of these and it does get complimented fairly often, especially by younger girls. MSRP about $300 so fairly affordable.

Ok. IN the case that they do, does the receiver in the US get any jail time/fines?

Most of the time US customs just destroys the item and sends you a seizure letter. It doesn't make sense for them to make a CD (controled delivery) for something so minor and send you to jail. The only reason you could become targeted is if your are trying to import tens or hundreds in one shipment. Then that would go well beyond "personal use" relm. Strangely, I have had some packages opened by customs, repackaged and sent anyway.

if your not just rich then try some of the more affordable brands like Michael Kors, Armani Exchange, Dolce and Gabanna, Kenneth Cole, Boss, Movado etc.

If your willing to spend at least 300 u should be able to find something nice. A nice watch can turn heads and sometimes girls might even outright compliment it and ask you what kind it is if they like it enough. Tell them its a brand that they happen to like and youll gain some points.

If you personally import them into the US (i.e carrying them with you), it is legal with some restrictions - you can legally bring up to two different counterfeit items through US customs.
This, however, does not cover mail/freight imports.

They should send the seizure letter first, as there is an administrative process to challenge the seizure, and it obviously makes sense for them to wait. Only when the time line for challenge expires they'd destroy it.

CD alone doesn't prove that you ordered this item. Even if you sign for it - after all, the site may have sent you a wrong item, or a gift for being a "loyal customer".
It is the same with prescription drugs people order from outside US - it is clearly illegal, and there is major lobby to prevent this kind of trafficking, but there is little CBP could do, and my impression so far is that they don't really care as long as you're not receiving large packages of those.

Thanks for the clarification. You are right about the prescription drugs. That was the time for me it was opened and then sent to me anyway.

I've been looking at watches on amazon.com and it looks like there are some pretty nice watches for much less. Although, I don't know enough about the brands to make the call for certain. These two caught my eye.

I like the look of the Bell & Ross watches but wouldn't pay a couple grand for them.

Wonder if this website is any good, I like the look of that Bell & Ross Replica:

Here's a nice introdutory article for men's watches.

I really like KinoWear; it's a great resource for Men's Style and Fashion. Unfortunately, it's owners seem to have abandoned it.

Haha - yeah, I've heard this a dozen times, even from Roosh himself. I am just to lazy to sit there and type shit on a blog all day, and I have a short attention span. [Image: smile.gif]

Same reason why I don't have a twitter or facebook account. Got too much shit going on in my life...and only 24hrs each day to get it all done!!!

If someone wants to volunteer to put one up and run it...I'll submit content to it: video, interviews, data sheets etc.

Keeping a blog seems like a full-time thing however... [Image: dodgy.gif]

Mixx if GManifesto can do it, so can you. A good blog doesn't take more than a few minutes per day to update (of course the initial start-up, including unique template & graphics can take a while to design).

A Patek Phillipe or Cartier is WAAAYY too high brow for most girls to understand the value of. Those that do will also spot a fake pretty easy. While Rolex is widely known it's somewhat vulgar, tarnished by its bling-bling status and fakes have really hurt the brand.

If you ask me, go for Breitling or Tag Heuer - fake or real. Sophisticated watches without the Rolex tramp stamp.

Personally I wear an Omega Seamaster, a lot due to the fact that it has little "fake market" and the fakes that exist are easy to spot.

HOWEVER, if you're investing in a watch it should be for yourself not for the ladies. I've had 4 times as many men compliment me on my watch as women, haha!

Patek for sure, but a lot of ladies know of Cartier as it's mostly a high end jewelery manufacturer. I personally like Santos 100 from their line.

Breitling's Navitimer is a nice looking chrono that ladies take a notice of. But they seem to be pretty delicate with not much water resistance. I would pick it as my club/lounge watch.

Not a fan of Tags. Probably the most overpriced well known watch house on the market.

Omega has a rich history, but their recent quality control sucks, and so does their service. It's very inconsistent. I had a Seamaster GMT and a DeVille Power Reserve, nothing but problems. They have a new movement 8500 that will be put into new Planet Oceans, so hopefully things will improve as it's a great looking watch.

Rolex has a lot of copycats but I guess that's the price of being 'king of the hill.' Unless you go with a diamond encrusted leopard Daytona, their sports models are classics with understated looks, reliability, and the best resale value if you get bored with it.

If you want to be original you can always pick a JLC, IWC, Glashutte, Lange and Sohne. Their quality of finish is exceptional with reasonable prices (mid-high level Swiss/German brands).

Taobao (the Chinese eBay) is a goldmine for shit like this. I actually started a business several months ago as a Taobao agent since I speak Chinese and am still located in China. If anyone's interested in ordering something on Taobao or has questions, hit me up: http://www.taobaogenie.com

There is a certain class of woman that definitely looks at that kind of thing. They notice. Whether that gets 'em wet, I don't know, but it gives her an idea of your possible worth. Even young chicks, if they grew up in those circles, definitely have an eye for little things that may be a sign of your status, like the kind of suit you're wearing, your shoes, your tie.

I'm a watch fiend...I've been one since I was a kid. I've never had an expensive one until a couple of years ago (yes...I got a vintage ROLEX...an Air King circa 1970s that cost about $1,800). I have a ton of others I've scooped up over the years, or got as gifts. I even have a pocket watch. As for really expensive watches, I love Panerais. I've seen some nice Movado models (simply, clean) that I love also. I also have an Invicta Subaqua (I always wanted a big, chunky diver's watch) that retails for $1995.00, but I got it on Buy.com $240. I think the motivation for buying a really expensive watch is the key. If you're doing it because of how it's put together, I can better understand it. If you're doing it just for show to impress others, that's dubious. If you're doing it simply because you can afford to, God bless you! I'm one of those people that always felt that I couldn't justify paying several hundred to thousands for a watch. If I had ridiculous amounts of money I might feel differently.

I actually own and wear on a daily basis an omega seamaster planet ocean perfesional. I bought it because I wanted it not because I thought it would bet me laid and I've never had one chick metion it. I have had countless chicks mention the hemp anclet I have on my leg. I have a $4000+ piece of metal on my wrist and they like the anclet one of my buddies made for me for free. well at least I don't have to worry about them stealing it in my sleep.

Actually the MOVADO museum piece(leather strap) is pretty cheap. Reg price 500-600 but yearly sales for half off. I have been complimented by both men and women. Its not very expensive but some consider it a classy and beautiful piece.
