Which bike would you get?

I'll have my license very soon and soon I'll have to pick and buy my first bike.

I thought I'd take the opportunity for some research and ask girls which one they like best, given a selection to choose from. I've asked 3 girls so far and there's a clear winner. See end of the post.

1. Suzuki GSX-R

2. Kawasaki ZX6R Ninja

3. Honda CBR 600 RR

4. Ducati Monster

The winner is 2. They also like the CBR (3). They all disliked number 4.

There should be some bike-owners on this forum. If yes, which bike would you recommend?

(P.S.: If anyone's in Thailand and interested in a road trip in a few weeks, let me know!)

Do you have much experience on 600cc bikes?

I have ridden the Ninja and CBR, neither of them are beginner bikes. The CBR600RR is basically a racing bike they made street legal. The thing is a rocket, and might be to much for some ones first bike.

I would pick the CBR.

I am a fairly experienced rider and I would probably still choose the CBR500R. Lighter, easier to flick in traffic, really smooth all around, and much cheaper. It does lack in power compared to the 600 but not that important unless you are taking it on the track. The 500 can still get up to 120mph which is more than enough for me.

Bigger is not always better and 99% of girls will have no idea the difference in the 500 and 600 cbr.

CBR600RR = $11,500
CBR500R = $6,000

As a proud owner of a 2007 Honda CBR600RR, that is what I would choose [Image: smile.gif] I bought it used for $9500, no damage and very low mileage. I highly recommend it!

DirectDanger, Kaii: Would you say the CBR can be used as a commuter bike? 90% of my mileage will be big city traffic..

Yes the CBR can be used as a commuter. But if 90% of the miles will be in the city you should for sure get the CBR500R. It will be easier to control in traffic, gives you more than enough power, slightly narrower profile so you can split lanes easier (depending on where you live), and uses less gas.

The CBR600R is badass but you really need a track to use it anywhere near its full potential.

Ah man, can't wait to have a test-ride.. I'll check out the 500R as well, perhaps I really don't need something that will probably kill me within 2 weeks as a starter bike.. [Image: wink.gif] Thanks for the feedback.

2nd and 3rd. The Ninja is a precision machine, but the Honda is a very solid bike. It's a throw up, but I like the Honda because you can get the Repsol kit! I'd take both if I could, the Ninja is on some dope Batman shit.

1st bike looks cheap, 4th is fugly even though it is a Ducati.

Easy decision: Ducati.

The first three bikes are dime a dozen and you'll never be able to exercise their full power safely on the streets. The Ducati looks like bad ass and would be a better commuter bike.

Another bike you should consider:

Suzuki SV650

Part of a guy's decision-making in getting a first bike is to appeal to girls. This is common, but trust me that once you get your bike and start enjoying it, you won't want any girl to get on, and won't care of their opinion.

Didn't expect that you are into bikes, Roosh. [Image: smile.gif]

Anyway, I think I found another good one. Actually I think it'd even prefer this to any of the sports bikes I've posted:

Yamaha XJR 1300

Also, I'm in Germany. I can legally go 300 km/h on many roads. If I ever wish to kill myself that is..

I rode a Ninja 500 for two years. I used it to go riding on the weekends and as a commuter bike. I sold it because I got into too many close calls while pushing the bike's limits on corners, but I never wrecked.

I will consider getting a motorcycle again if I find a permanent home and have health insurance.

These are highways, right? Going fast and straight is actually not that fun... it's a bit monotonous. The real fun is taking tight turns, but highways are designed not to have them. You'll end up finding country roads to ride on.

I have 3 friends with motorcycles, and they all say the same: That they had near-death experiences. I guess I'll see. No turning back now for me..

Yeah, I meant highways. And yeah, they are boring, but I guess if you go really fast while overtaking cars, it's a thrill..

In the OP pick one of the three jap bikes,, since they're pretty much all the same pick whichever one fits your body the best. Spend a good amount of time sitting on each of them remember the wind will take some of the pressure of your hands on the bars.

What about the Triumph Speed Triple? I would consider getting one of those.

But don't ask girls about it. A bike is for you. And girls don't know about bikes.

I'm not a big fan of Triumph. Although that might change if I ever ride one.
Yeah, I think I won't get a racing bike after all. Something like the XJR or SV650 is more likely.

Crotch rockets are a dime a dozen. Pick up a Sucker Punch Sally:
