Hong Kong: Feminist heaven?

I'm posting this in travel in the hopes that people can share their experiences with women in Hong Kong. I don't think I would ever go there but i'm just curious if this situation is extremely unusual or not.

The comments by the bystanders suggest that their relationship is aberrational. I can't imagine that this is the norm anywhere.

I've never seen anything this bluepill in my life. Seriously, if any guy anywhere is such a dork that he let's his girlfriend do this to him in public, I have no sympathy whatsoever.

I've never been to Hongkong, but I have a hard time imagining this as normal behavior. Even if it is, if you ever get yourself into a position where anything remotely close to this can happen...seriously man, I don't know what to say. What are you even doing on this forum?

No, I wasn't addressing you or anyone in particular.

I wasn't implying you or anyone else here would be like the guy in the video. It just meant that anyone with even rudimentary self esteem (which I assume most guys on this forum have) would never have to worry about getting into that kind of situation.

Oh, yeah I agree.

While this is probably quite rare, in most countries this should be unheard of. Especially in the middle of the street.

Any man with a hint of backbone would not put up with this shit. So in theory it should not be a specific concern to us, but who would want to be in an environment where women have this kind of nerve in the first place? That's more of what I was getting at.

Very strange that a Cantonese guy would deal with this epic loss of face. In my experiences, I've noticed that Northern Chinese, especially from shanghai tend to be the most blue pill... But even those motherfuckers wouldn't stoop to this level.

If this shit happened in Korea, I can say with 99% certainty that some rando middle aged Korean dude would fucking come out of nowhere and slap that bitch up within the first 15 seconds. Then stomp on the guy for being such a puss.

To answer the OP, I've had great results in HKG, especially the clubs. Local guys don't really cold approach so it was generally quite easy to hook girls attention. The girls were definitely more strong willed than other races (SE Asian in particular) but they didn't do shit like this.

To quote Alisa Yao from Youtube: "We call this the "princess disease" in china/HK/taiwan. It is a result of the one child policy, so families with a daughter spoil her like a little princess. She then grows up thinking she's a princess and gets whatever she wants. The one child policy also tells men that they need to win women over, especially in a society where women no longer need men to be successful. This is most likely why the man in the video did not fight back."

It's a big issue nowadays, society still thinks of women as victims.. even if they are perpetrators. No one helped him, cuz she is just a girl and probably a victim of his actions. Imagine the same scene with a guy standing infront of a chick slapping her. How would ppl react? ...

There is no one child policy in Hong Kong or Taiwan.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

I don't see this as much of a double standard. The guy in the video is physically perfectly capable of getting up and slapping the shit out of both of those women. I wouldn't be able to say the same if the genders were reversed, with two average sized guys grabbing an average sized woman who's kneeling on the ground by the hair and slapping her in the face in public.

It's crazy how passive the bystanders are.

I was about to suggest that this is due to the Chinese city mindset of minding one's own business (and looking out for yourself).

But now that I think about it, would the reaction from the spectators be that much different in other countries?

I remember seeing a youtube video of a social experiment involving a woman slapping a man in various different settings (in the US), and only in a few cases did anyone actually intervene.

Actually, near the last third of the video, people start getting involved telling him to dump her and that she's a bitch, can't treat other people like that etc.

"That's really bad. She's a bitch."

"Stand up. Stop kneeling to her."

"Fucking dump her."

"You don't need her. You're also a human."

"Stand up and hit her!"

I guess I was being too hard on him. He's obviously a weak person, and it looks like that chic knows how to be manipulative enough to be that psychologically abusive. Still, the guy needs to grow some balls.

GUYS, THIS IS A SPOOF. IT IS NOT REAL. My hk friends just told me this yesterday. There are apparently quite a few of these hk spoofs on youtube.

Chill...

Besides, with one of the most advantageous gender ratios for men in the world (http://blogs.wsj.com/chinarealtime/2012/...p-grows/), it seems like a first world destination worth visiting.

Lol, indeed very true. There is no one-child policy in HK.

But it's funny because HK-ers do acknowledge a cultural phenomenon called "princess disease" (gong zhu bing).
