Return to Tribalism for Social Organization

I've read a lot of articles and I think that that in this globalized world, people are returning to tribalism as a form of organization.

Here's an article on the morality of the character Walter White from the program Breaking Bad:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/29/opinio...l?emc=eta1

Short version: Walt is moral because he takes care of his tribe. The morality of the Nation, Society, etc. is subordinate to taking care of your own.

Tom Wolfe published a book called Back to Blood saying that the USA is going back to blood ties.

The implications for business are obvious. You can't just market to a niche you have to join their tribe.

Game? Be the chief of the tribe.

Politics? Whichever party gets more people in more tribes behind it wins.

Look at the SWPL trying to fit in when they fit in nowhere. Their beliefs about the universal brotherhood of all people are being revealed to be rubbish. I guess they have their own tribe that meets at brunch to discuss how Obama is making the world safe for sustainable awareness raising methods.

Hipsters

Gangstas

Juggalos

What to do if you don't have a tribe?

How do you join the Manosphere tribe offline?

I think people here are figuring out which kind of tribe they'd like to belong to and then either find a way to belong to it or make one based on similar interests.

Because most of this stuff is on the internet, it is easy to be part of multiple tribes (or one tribe that itself can be divided into smaller tribes) due to the loose affiliation that comes with the internet.

For instance - everyone here is part of the manosphere tribe and the Roosh V Forum tribe. Some people here are part of the RSD tribe. Others are part of the PUA tribe. There are those that are part of the MGTOW tribe. And of course, let us not forget the self improvement tribe. But those are just the game tribes.

I wouldn't call being on an internet forum a tribe. Sure we are like minded people with similar goals, but I would consider it more like a clique than anything else. Jack Donovan suggest creating an honor gang

In The Way of Men, I argued that to create a legitimate honor culture, you need to create an honor group. It’s easy to assemble groups of like-minded men on the Internet, on forums and blogs and social networking groups, but a true honor culture must be proximate and “real-world.”

I'm more interested in seeing what effect the division of society has on game. If I can find the time tomorrow I'll do a writeup of my thoughts.

The Donovan Honor Gang idea is probably one of the best and most crystallized forms of tribal masculinity to come out of the western culture in the last hundred years.

In my opinion the understanding and underpinnings of tribalism never left. Men who are damned good leaders and excellent in teams will always be more 'tribal' than people who refuse to or are too scared to interact with strangers. People still willingly defer to an alpha male.

Yeah, I commented on Douthat's column in the BrBa thread, but The Texas Prophet pointed out that WW admitted to Skyler in the last episode that he did it all for himself - to feel alive.

Arabs do everything by tribalism, it does not work out too well in a lot of ways. No real rule of law, lots of corruption, low-trust society outside of your tribe, etc.

Politically it's a disaster, a return to the Dark Ages.

True, but no other ends favorable for men will ever be achieved, from this point, via politics in America. There is too much money, and nothing to gain by catering to men, which, compared to catering to women, is like herding cats. If the manosphere teaches anything, it is this. Just look around.

It's cyclical. There is a golden mean. Too much tribalism is one problem. Too much civilization is...what we have. It will have to swing the other way for a while if we (as human males) ever want to see a future where it reaches a sweet spot again.

Yes. Tribal societies - the Arab world. The Balkans and Caucuses. Sub-Saharan Africa. India - tribalism by caste, linguistic group, and religion.

Notice these are not exactly the most successful and prosperous parts of the world.

They do know how to keep their women in line, though.

Not necessarily cause and effect. More likely living in dangerous/3rd world areas necessitates such living.
