Women Now Eating Their Own Young

A new trend is now forming for new mothers. From the article:

Quote:Quote:

After Julia Rodriguez gave birth to her twins via cesarean section 18 months ago, her body was swollen and she had to go on medication for high blood pressure medication. "When I got home, I looked like an elephant," she admits.

The medication and compression socks weren't working. She couldn't fit into any of her shoes. Then she began consuming pills made from her dried-up placenta, prepared by her doula.

"As soon as I began taking the placenta pills, everything went back to normal really fast." Rodriguez, 42, tells Yahoo Shine. "My energy was there. It was pretty amazing." Even her sister was shocked at the transformation in just a week.

Jennifer Mayer, owner of Brooklyn Placenta Services, who has encapsulated more than 200 placentas over the past two years, says the pills have made her clients who are "feeling weepy," stressed or off balance become more centered and emotionally stable. She also says they helped some women increase breast milk production.

Quote:Quote:

Even though there are scant published studies (unless you count one from 1954 that said eating dried placenta could increase the amount of milk a mother produced, as well as some animal studies that linked placenta consumption to an improved mood), "many doctors have said there's no harm in it," Mayer explains. "If it's helping women, even if it's a placebo, then what's the harm? You have nothing to lose."

Not true, says Harvey J. Kliman, MD, PhD, a research scientist in Yale's Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences. His groundbreaking research includes identifying clues about autism found in a newborn's placenta.

Just wow. But it gets better:

Quote:Quote:

While placenta consumption is becoming more mainstream - Kim Kardashian has famously talked about eating hers on her E! reality show, and a dinner party conversation on Netflix's "Orange Is the New Black" touched on the unconventional practice - it's not just a trend in New York and Los Angeles.

Women are eating human placenta because they feel bad after birth (pun intended).

I'll keep it short and let you decide if there is a possible future correlation:

It is believed cows get the disease from eating commercial feed that includes bone and brain from animals.

New cannibalism in pill form? This might be the where the zombie apocalypse begins.

P.S. This would be a great ROK article, but I got way too much on my plate to do it up right. One of you guys feel free.

I've seen probably fifty birthing goats gobble up their placentas.
Since most women are stupid and avoid meat due to the health reasons, post-pregnancy placenta consumption could actually be a pretty good idea. I can't imagine a protein that is more bioavailable than human flesh.

Seems strange when a woman does it, but most other mammals need to eat their placenta because they can't get up and leave their recently birthed babies in order to find some food.

They feel bad about giving birth because women have been taught that motherhood is oppressive.

Further, giving birth signifies a relationship with the future and our "YOLO!" Culture can't handle that.

That comforting part is consuming a piece of themselves in order to bring them peace they are still the star of their own movie - which just got a threatening new co-star & soon-to-be bit roleplayer in her life

I'm waiting for the next stage. Placenta supplement wonder drug - old rich women eating placenta supplements from younger women and an industry promoting child birth just for the placentas...The mothers are all on gov't programs and so just keep racking up more support for more kids and sell the placentas on the side.

I need to mark this prediction and check back in 2020.

So true.

It's odd that we "hate women," when we are the ones who praise child bearing and child rearing and see the value that a stable mother who takes pride in her work as a mother adds to the life of the family and to society.

If you look at outcomes, people who steer women away from motherhood are the ones who hate women.

The OP actually makes perfect nutritional sense.

When a woman is pregnant, her body puts all her nutritional stores into the placenta for the developing infant to use for growth.

When she gives birth, all that nutrition comes out with the placenta.

Given how poor in nutrition the S.A.D. (Standard American Diet) is, giving birth leaves women nutritionally depleted and they are not eating the right foods to restore all that lost nutrition.

This is the main reason why Post-Partum Depression has become common.

Many traditional cultures had mothers consume the placenta to aid in recovery from child birth....and most were peoples who had nutritionally dense diets to begin with!

But women don't have to eat their placenta, they just need to eat nutrient dense foods all through their pregnancy, and afterwords.

So should men drink their own semen after a workout for protein and recovery?

I have no problem making semen pills and marketing them in bodybuilding magazines.

These women are claiming that they are the only mammals in nature not eating their own placenta. Really? They want to act like dogs but not be treated like one. I'm still in shock over this, and placenta pills aren't FDA approved. Look up Kuru disease from cannibals. Kuru is one mutation away from CJD (the human form of mad cow disease).

This shit makes me think about that movie I am Legend.

This is something many animals already do. Not surprised that it is beneficial to consume - where do all the nutrients that help the baby grow have to pass through? We probably did this after every birth a long time ago, but the advent of hygeine most likely caused this practice to cease

Probably the hamsters would not need to turn to canibalism if they gave birth at the right age. At 42 she should devote her time to most typical things her age like watching telenovelas, growing an oversized ass, learning belly dance or prepearing to menopause. [Image: whip.gif]

She go crazy, is hamster!
