How many of you have Facebook?

I know there was another thread talking about how it was bad for gaming but I am curious how many of you still have it anyway?

I purely use it to keep in contact with my more far-flung friends. It's a low-effort way of keeping in touch over long distances. I only have 30 friends or so.

I have it, but my privacy settings are strict, and I haven't posted anything in over 2 years now. It serves primarily as a means for my gf to mark the territorry with lovey-dovey messages.
(She's also won the 'friends other than acquaintances' 'in a relationship' status after providing several especially nice blowjobs)

Its a great way to know what's going on. And most of my friends communicate through Facebook, not text. Strict privacy, self-discipline and an extremely shortened version of my name go a long way.

It's been a slow and effortful process, but I've been deleting people, fixing my privacy settings, and quit adding and started to ignore friend requests over the past 6 months.

Has it helped? Maybe in a way that I don't know about. Maybe some girls that I've met through social circle or have interest in me looked me up but couldn't find anything besides my main picture, causing some attraction due to mystery.

It sure hasn't hurt me though.

In the past, having facebook so open has hurt my chances a few times for sure, and probably many more times that I don't know about.

For those who still have facebook, how have you adapted it to your lifestyle (one that isn't conformist and essentially more red-pill).

I deactivated mine about a year ago. Imo its usefulness drops off after 25.

Im just more careful about who i add. I stay clear of family obviously. I remember when i first started changing my views and posting "controversial" stuf on facebook a lot of people complained, called me names etc so i just deleted them. I still kept a few of them around though, i like gettin a rise of of them on occasion.

I use it but mostly for organising social events and checking schedules for clubs. I have a false name on my profile so people I hardly know don't send me useless spam messages.

I have it, but I have a fake last name and I don't really ask people for it.

If people ask me, I usually say "I don't have one", or "I'm never on it".

FB works well for me. I post things on there that often get a lot of "likes" and a lot of interesting discussion by obviously interesting and attractive people, so it is a DHV. Girls ask me to be FB friends and they begin to see the network of people I am involved with around the world, so it is a big DHV.

Girls have mentioned to me, "you get so many people liking and commenting on what you put on fb". But it wasn't always that way... It took a lot of time. Friends on my fb behave themselves; as I publically delete those who play up. I also have conversations with people on other people's walls, some with thousands of friends. So, in this day and age, a lot of people will know who you are by what you have written, without even having met you!

So it is simple, I am giving value a lot of the time. I post things that I know my fb friends are interested in that they do not know about. And this isn't a forced thing for me, it is a natural kind of sharing I do.

But I'm becoming more and more sparse about sharing personal things, people just can't seem to handle very much that is at all personal. And increasingly, I'm finding my network so broad and over so many countries, professional and personal, I just don't want to share so much that is at all personal. I used to update it every week or so about my travels, now I'm being more mysterious. People are very jealous creatures of course.

I tried categorising all my friends into different levels, but never really bothered to use that feature.

It is obviously a useful to keep in contact with people. People who are using email to keep in contact with me, but I find it just takes too much time. In day and age, "stay in touch" doesn't make so much sense it seems to me.

If people are traveling in the same country you are in for example, then you can meet up with them. I find this happens a fair bit. I find it a powerful tool. But I never use fb chat, that just takes too much time.

Close friends of course, I am emailing and staying in touch that way. FB is more for acquaintences, of which I have many, this is useful for lots of reasons - networking, social circle, whatever you want to call it. Also, a lot of events are only advertised on FB. I have friends who have tried to get off, but they normally come back. In this day and age, it is all the more important to do face to face, a lot of people seem to maintain the idea of friendships and relationships through the egotism of the virtual world is enough, but of course it is very hollow and I think a big problem in the world today.

I have a new one with a fake name and privacy settings locked down so I can keep in touch with friends I spend time with somewhat regularly. I think there's about 40 people on there

I have a profile but use FB exclusively to stay in touch with people overseas. In fact, I limit my involvement to the FB messenger app on my phone for PMs.

I have Facebook but I don't use it for gaming purposes. I'm one of those people who jumped on Facebook back when I was only for people in college and now it's sunken it's hooks too far into me. Without it I would never been able to keep up with overseas relatives and I would have never re-connected with some of the people I've re-connected with.

I was on Facebook in 2007 or 2008 when it was fairly new; when all the game request spammers were still on MySpace. I've worked on tweaking my stream so I see pretty much what I want to see.

Yeah, I am on there, and I changed my name about a year ago due to my role in a massive project where I live. Because it is so controversial, I don't want people easily finding me on FB. I know it is easy to search my last name, find my wife or kids and back into me, but I don't want them to instantly find me.

The funny thing is, when I changed my name, family and friends went ape-shit. They thought I killed someone or stole something. Everyone wanted me to change it back, and they thought there was something wrong.

Just wait until I delete the damn thing! Ha ha!

I use it and yes it's very successful for me, I use the messenger side of it more to speak to people abroad. I've got sex off a random friend request and one of my girl friends acts a pimp for me and uses it to show her friends.

It's negatives are becoming more and more obvious as time goes on.

I'm at the point where I want to delete it but I hate missing out on opportunities for pictures.

Meh, I'll just buy a camera and be done with it.

How many of you have Facebook?

I just went through the process of changing all my privacy settings to "just me" and then going through and labeling all my posts as "just me."

I only use for a couple side pieces that can only communicate through FB for one reason or another and staying in touch with old friends. I dont post updates, I dont comment on anyone's uneducated political posts (sensational news story from an obviously biased source), I dont tell new girls I have FB, and I don't let me people tag me in anything.

I like to check the news feed to see what people are up to, but I have found I start to lose respect for people after seeing what they have posted.

God'll prolly have me on some real strict shit

Some mixed emotions about FB.
I have it, but only use it for keeping in touch and sharing bullshit photos with friends in Brasil. I find the instant messenger feature very useful for communicating with people in Brasil.
That's about it. Would never use it to try to meet chicks. And would never, ever "friend" a chick I was trying to game.
I haven't had any bad experiences with it, but my privacy settings are always "friends only" and never "public".

I just realized the value of facebook! Getting invited to parties by obscure friends who are removed from your social circle. This happens a fair bit.
