Red trousers

Apparently in some quarters it's considered naff to wear bright red trousers:

I've always had positive comments when I wore red. One woman friend of my ex even said "Potent man!" (admiringly) when she saw me in some slim red jeans (many years ago).

I think red is a sign of aggression and boldness, a willingness to stand out from the crowd. What say you?

I rock red pants. It's more preppy than gay. And it's a good look in the summer.

I don't have bright red trousers but I do have a pair of bright blue and a purple pair I mix in. It's important to get the balance right, you have to look natural and good. Don't go in for the whole peacocking thing, don't wear shit cause it stands out, wear it cause it matches your vibe and style.

I have purple jeans and red chino shorts. One girl told me that "she digs a man who has balls to use purple pants". I am trying to avoid wearing black at all costs, and dark blue jeans get old real quickly.

red is coming over to the states now too, but it started over in europe

if you can get a darker, wine colored pair of chinos and match them with a shirt that isn't loud (blue chambray looks pretty good) you'll be fine, but as a straight dude I'd still stay away from the bright red stuff.

As always it depends... on what you wear with it. If I wear bold red trousers everything else is muted or cold (grey, blue). It signals you are willing to stand out from the crowd. I am sick of conforming to the dictat of grey, blue, and khaki, so I include a loud color in my outfit whenever I can.

Who cares if bright red is seen as gay (and I don't think it generally is)? It could bring the target's shields down until you get in and prove you're a heated-red-sexual. [Image: smile.gif]

It's a black guy thing in the US. Along with red shoes.

Brightly colored pants are a big fashion trend for men (and women) this year, at least here in the U.S. Guys rocking red, orange, bright blue, etc. is so common the look's beginning to lose its punch.

It's not the most masculine look, but it can definitely work. I wouldn't recommend it for shy, anxious, or nerdy guys (or guys in the early stages of getting over their social anxiety), as it seems incongruous and tends to come off as gay and/or dorky if your pants are way more aggressive and dynamic than your personality.

If you're comfortable being the center of attention, though, they're cool.

I like the idea of brick red jeans - atypical but not bright.

What would the rest of your outfit be with red jeans? I assume it is brown shoes & belt. Shirt? Sports coat?

It was so long ago I don't remember what else I wore - probably my leather biker jacket and a pair of canvas sneakers....

I've been rocking red pants (and subsequently making chicks wet) since I was 13.

If white and Asian dudes can rock short pink shorts then red pants shouldn't even be in the conversation.

See them a lot in Sydney, Australia and mostly they are worn by the private school boys crowd and hipsters etc. Have been popular here for the last 2-3 years.

A lot of men get hate for wearing colors that are not considered traditional.

I wear red pants, blue pants, too.

I don't worry about whether other dudes think it's gay, since in my view it's really fucking gay for other men to "check me out" and decide if my attire is straight or gay.

Girls love the red pants.

....naff?

I don't think red pants would work for me, but I'm also pretty solidly built. Maybe for a slender guy it could be cool.

I think this trend transcends all races.

I like the glasses and the jacket, but the rest is just bad.
