Back to ask the professionals to help...

I posted a few months ago as "The guy who married a Latvian" had fun talking w u guys. Need some help though. Wife is out of vacation and i have a week left so i am going to the EU for a week in late September to early October. I need suggestions for two cities to hang out and have some fun. Not looking to get laid but will be solo and budget not including flight and hotel is $2k. What 2 cities would u pick based on that? Would the Munich Octoberfest suck being solo? Thank you for all replies in advance.

Since you don't care about gaming, Munich is a lot of fun and a very beautiful city, weather should be good then, so try a couple days at Oktoberfest and maybe then try to hit the mountains for some beautiful Fall scenery? I've been to Oktoberfest once and it was a little crazy but fun, it's easy to meet people going solo. You can also just hit up the beer houses as well where there will be tons of tourists and it's easy to strike up a conversation with pretty much anyone passing through esp at the Hofbrauhaus. I really liked the new Paulaner beerhall, and the Augustinerkeller hall is great too.

Munich a tad bit expensive, but you can get my more cheaply if you plan ahead. Garmisch-Patenkirchen is only about 1-1.5 hours by car south of Munich. You could rent a car and drive down to Austria too (what I did) and then to Milan - or go by train if you wanted to fly into Munich and leave out of Milan. The Alps are really beautiful and the train ride would be quite scenic I think.

Munich has some really cool musems too - the one with all the airplanes and locomotives is awesome, and the art museums are great as well.

My 2 cents.

Dusseldorf is definitely worth a look, the Aldstadt (old town) area is one big street full of bars and it's always busy with a good atmosphere. I know you mentioned you are not looking to get laid but the girls are very friendly and it's easy to pull if you change your mind.
